MrSpaM Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17860492 The 32-year-old, who limped off against West Ham on Monday, has a partial tear. "If surgery is involved we could be looking at September or October. But if it is treatable, he could be back for pre-season," said boss Nigel Pearson. Meanwhile striker Jeffrey Schlupp needs an operation on a knee injury next week, but should be fit for pre-season. Pearson added: "He [schlupp] will have surgery next week on his other knee. He's had a bit of an unfortunate season. He has had two injuries to his knees. "We have to get the surgery done and get the rehab right so he is ready for pre-season." And although Pearson said Wellens injury prognosis was a big blow, he said they were waiting for more news before ruling him out of pre-season training. "His knee is fairly stable so it could be that we treat it conservatively, but we will have to wait a bit longer to get the final prognosis on how we take it forward," he added.
Burmesefox Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 so he's not actually out for 6 weeks then...that's just a possibility if he requires surgery.
MrFox781 Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 Not too disappointed about Wellens. Schlupp get well soon.
Haydos Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 Not too disappointed about Wellens. Schlupp get well soon. Good supporter.
Happy Fox Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 Classy. Ooops I regret what I post and apologies to any poster that may have taken offense, I would never wish an injury on any player but is it coincidental that without Wellens in the side we seem to be a better proposition?, yes I know he isn't the only player that hasn't performed but next season I cannot see him featuring at all.
Legend_in_blue Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 Maybe when he comes back he'll only train for three days a week...
Babylon Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 but is it coincidental that without Wellens in the side we seem to be a better proposition?, Could you back that up?

Actually I'd say Wellens/Danns has been one of our best central midfield partnerships this season. He's not been as good as previous years, but he's hardly been bad.
Jace Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 accessory and artursteppe I always imaged they looked like this
Happy Fox Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 Could you back that up? We have only won 11 league games this season with him in the team.
Haydos Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 We have only won 11 league games this season with him in the team. 11 out of 17? Surely this contradicts your point if anything?
Fox92 Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 11 out of 17? Surely this contradicts your point if anything? lol
Happy Fox Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 11 out of 17? Surely this contradicts your point if anything? Maybe you are right , but Wellens isn't the answer imo, he hasn't been all season for me his career is heading on the downward stream at this club, I appreciate that he did well for us at some point but the Richie Wellens of old performances are non existent on a consistent basis.

He's our top assisting midfielder.
RowlattsFox Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 people are celebrating the fact he's injured yet this means he will be here next season whatever happens. A fit Wellens may have been moved on. A decent player and the criticisms he gets are a bit OTT.

You can't appreciate it that much if you're happy he's injured.
Happy Fox Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 He's our top assisting midfielder. 6 assists how pitiful a return, even Nugent has more says it all really.

I don't think he's the answer moving forward, but have been baffled by some of the abuse he's got after the hatemob moved on from Beckford, before it settled on Gallagher. Wellens & Danns once they'd played together a couple of times was about as good as the midfield got this season. Danns was doing the box-to-box running and Wellens was good further up the pitch, sadly it didn't last long with injury & suspension getting in the way. Aside from his playing, he's the only one made of captain material at the club, he's constantly talking to everyone, directing, having a word in their ear, putting an arm around their shoulder, as well as Wellens the player probably needing improving on... we need a couple more with his personality
Fox92 Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 He's our top assisting midfielder. He has been since he has been here!
Haydos Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 6 assists how pitiful a return, even Nugent has more says it all really. Danns hasn't got that many, that must mean he's terrible!
Happy Fox Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 Danns hasn't got that many, that must mean he's terrible! No ,but he offers more than Wellens ever did he isn't limited player, Danns possesses the ability to break up play ,score goals pass the ball with pace.
lcfcsnow Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 He has been since he has been here! Of course he has. He's been an ever present in a poor midfield now for 3 seasons and look how many he's mustered up? Pretty poor as the main playmaker in the side. Lets face the facts, he along with King, Dyer and Gallagher are just not upto it anymore. But will the manager realise this? I have my doubts and expect at least two of them to be in and around the squad next season.
