Happy Fox Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 http://www.warwickco...-exit-1-3803892 It now seems certain that Jacob Blyth has played his last game for Brakes, with the promising youngster expected to make the move to a leading Championship side early next week. The final details of the deal have still to be finalised, leaving Leamington understandably tight-lipped, but with Brakes boss Paul Holleran a close friend of Leicester City assistant manager Craig Shakespeare, rumours of a move to the King Power Stadium seems well-founded.
Happy Fox Posted 4 May 2012 Author Posted 4 May 2012 Looks to have some foundation the Leamington fans are commenting on the situation http://banter.cv31.co.uk/showthread.php?8933-Jacob-Blyth/page2
ScouseFox Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 Give them a few million and him tens of thousands a week. All hail sir Nige!
Guest parky0607 Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 Leamington is a horrible place Heard there was a Spa there though
paddy Agyemang Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 Hope he won't be another Frank moussa and never play for us, if we get him then at least play him
Babylon Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 Hope he won't be another Frank moussa and never play for us, if we get him then at least play him If they are good enough they will play. Sometimes these things work out, sometimes they don't. I'd rather be looking for the odd diamond in the rough than not bothering at all.
Happy Fox Posted 4 May 2012 Author Posted 4 May 2012 19 years old, scored 20 goals this season in a division albeit 2 below the Conference it is a gamble but he might be worth it?
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 19 years old, scored 20 goals this season in a division albeit 2 below the Conference it is a gamble but he might be worth it? Agreed and happy with this. A Non-League youngster is well worth a gamble with much to prove; Now isn't there a certain Mr Vardy who we're linked with too???
Soar Fox Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 Love how some people turned there noses up at Yakubu and Jelavic, who wasn't deemed good enough because he played in the SPL. But as soon as we're linked to a young non-league player people instantly froth at the mouth as it's a (typical Pearson player)
flowwolf Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 I'm pleased we are giving the lad a chance. What harm can it do ?

But as soon as we're linked to a young non-league player people instantly froth at the mouth as it's a (typical Pearson player) I seem to remember most people turning their noses up at the fees that were being thrown around for signings such as Jelavic, the price being to steep for an SPL player. Lets be honest this lad isn't going to cost us a lot, and no one has said he's going to be a first team player, no expectation will be placed upon him. Can you blame people for wanting players like these to make a name for themselves? It's been pointed out many times on here that some of our best players have came from the lower leagues, it's just a nice change to think we can be finding the next big thing by giving them a chance, rather than having to pay a huge fee, and big wages just for the contract to get signed. No there's no guarantee that they will make it, or become a huge star, but the idea that they might is exciting in itself, after the previous season can you really blame our fans for being sceptical about 'big name' transfers.

Raw Dykes Posted 5 May 2012 Posted 5 May 2012 But Jelavic has proved the fee that was being thrown around he was worth it. He has now, but when we were after him, how were any of us to know that? I'm sure most of us remember all too well Levein's pathetic SPL imports, and Strachan's recent disappointing Middlesbrough side made up of SPL players. There are many examples of players who look world-beaters in the SPL finding the Championship too difficult. Do you realise that we don't have infinite resources? Do you realise the club is in debt? Honestly, reading your recent comments on this thread, anyone could be forgiven for thinking you started following Leicester City yesterday. At this club, I think there are more examples of failed expensive signings than successes. For every Jelavic we missed, there's a Beckford, a Mills and an Akinbiyi we bought. I think it's fair to say we've had way more success finding good players before they became good, or ones that other clubs overlooked, rather than buying the ready-made, finished article. LcFc_Smiv said pretty much everything I was going to say. I much prefer to see the club make signings from lower down the leagues than PL players dropping down to us, for many reasons. I much prefer to see unknown players make their name here like MON's team, rather than expensive big names turning up just to get their cash like Sven's flops. Signings from the lower leagues are cheaper, so there's less risk involved, and if they succeed, then it probably means we've got a decent scouting network that can dig up more gems. Their cost also means there's more chance of a profit if they have to be sold on. How much do you think the club will make from selling expensive failures like Beckford or Mills? Players from lower down the ladder on their way up also usually have a point to prove and are normally less complacent than players on big wages dropping down the ladder, thinking it will be a walk in the park. Has Sven's "splash the cash and hope for the best" approach taught some of the fans nothing at all?
Kitchandro Posted 5 May 2012 Posted 5 May 2012 I'm all for getting talent from the lower leagues but you have to wonder why this guy is playing 2 leagues below the conference. You could say he's 'one for the future' but he's not 16, he's 19. He's going to have to make the step up reasonably quickly. Sure either him or Vardy could play a massive part for us in the next 2 seasons and I could look like a prat but they're strange targets to say the least.
ozleicester Posted 5 May 2012 Posted 5 May 2012 Gte down the bookies, we are going to stroll the Conference next year
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 5 May 2012 Posted 5 May 2012 As I have already said. If the bulk of the players we are linked with true we have gone from shopping at Harrods to Primark. Already having my doubts. Seems like Pearson only wants young players as he can not handle an ego. Would people reallly be happy if we got rid of Beckford and ended up with this kid or Tyrell?
ramadaone Posted 5 May 2012 Posted 5 May 2012 What is the point in having an Academy if we buy players of this quality ? I suppose someone is going to tell me this lad is better than Jeff,Hopper or HP

Has Sven's "splash the cash and hope for the best" approach taught some of the fans nothing at all? Only started supporting them yesterday? Why's that because I don't get excited at the thought of having a potential strike force of a 25 year old conference player and a 19 year old Evo Stick league player next season? Do you think the owners will give Nigel the time to see if these players come good? I doubt Pearson would still be here come Christmas if we're not in the top 6. Also Derby seem to be signing a few players from the lower leagues, there hardly setting the world a light. I'm not saying I'm against signing from the lower leagues, but I just think we need a good balance between experienced championship players and a couple of young hungry players who have got the ability or potential.

So you honestly think this lad will come in to replace Beckford? Come off it. I've watched a lot of non league football and there is a lot of talent that deserve to play at a far higher level. You seem to forget where Beckford was playing a few years ago.

No one has said he's going to replace Beckford, just because we've been linked with a few kids so far? We've also been linked with two players at united, one who spent last season playing prem football for Norwich. It's a week today since the season ended, there's far too long of the summer to go before people start jumping on Pearson's back again, christ the transfer window hasn't even opened yet. Of course there are going to be deals going on in the background that we are not aware of, why worry yet? Why don't people wait to the week before the start of the season before they start to slate the deals we make in the transfer market.
