ras Posted 6 May 2012 Posted 6 May 2012 what a joke this man is he is calling roberto mancinis man city,he his saying now that man city have ruined the transfer market by paying big fees for players, for the past 15 year he as ruined it for the majority of clubs as hestarted paying high fees spoiling it for the average club ras
MPH Posted 6 May 2012 Posted 6 May 2012 Its called mind games. One game left and he knows he has to rely on man city messing up to win it....
Corky Posted 6 May 2012 Posted 6 May 2012 Man Utd have never spent big money on Ferdinand, Rooney, Berbatov, Veron, Van Nistelrooy. All done on the cheap.
Tielemans63 Posted 6 May 2012 Posted 6 May 2012 Perhaps he should cast his mind back to the tactics he deployed against City last Monday - his negativity in that game has cost them as much anything else. I'm sure he was happy when it was Man U skewing the transfer market picture before Sheikh Mansour arrived at City.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 6 May 2012 Posted 6 May 2012 I can't remember last time Man United have spent £30m + on one player..
ScouseFox Posted 6 May 2012 Posted 6 May 2012 I can't remember last time Man United have spent £30m + on one player.. Bar Robinho (who was bought waaay before Mancini) and possibly Aguero (who's transfer fee is reported differently depending on where you look) Man City have never spent £30 million on a single player. Ever.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 6 May 2012 Posted 6 May 2012 I don't really think anyone can have a dig at Man Utd with the way they go about their signings, they buy players for reasonable fees, their not a team made up of superstars. The players themselves are fairly average compared to the likes that teams such as Chelsea and Man City have brought in with their millions, SAF just knows how to get the best out of them.
Fox92 Posted 6 May 2012 Posted 6 May 2012 It's like last week when he said Mancini 'badgered' the officials all game.. something Ferguson never does obviously!
Joe Tebbutt Posted 6 May 2012 Posted 6 May 2012 Ferguson is a genius. FACT. Of course he uses mind games, who wouldn't, he wants to win the league. Players coming through the youth setup since he's been there? Too many to name. I'd say they didn't cost a lot. The great job he does for youngsters shipping them out to make them better then bringing them back when he could just bin them off, how many other clubs can boast that, he's given us a few on loan which only helps us. Hating a man thats done what he has is ridiculous IMO.

Hating a man thats done what he has is ridiculous IMO. I agree with the youth system part. Ferguson has brought a lot of players through for the game. However, Manchester United are not in a poor financial position to sell the players on, where as other clubs, such as Crewe and West Ham (West Ham have always had the best academy in my opinion) produce good footballers but most of the players end up leaving because they cannot afford to keep them... For example, in more recent years West Ham have produced Rio Ferdinand, Anton Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole, Michael Carrick, Jermaine Defoe, Glen Johnson, Paul Ince and Tony Cottee. All of these players ended up leaving West Ham. And they currently have Noble (best player outside the Premier League in my opinion), Collison, Tomkins, Stanislas and Fred Sears, but how many will stay at the club? Again, look at Crewe. In recent season, they have produced the likes of Nicky Maynard, Dean Ashton, Billy Jones, David Vaughan, Seth Johnson and Danny Murphy. And they all left.
Joe Tebbutt Posted 6 May 2012 Posted 6 May 2012 also totally agree with you Fox92, what I'm saying is with manu's financial position they don't need to bother so much with the youth setup but they do. They could just buy the players but they make the effort to develop the youth, which is good for them and for english football in general. Yes they have cash and in recent years they have spent a lot, but they are a massive club with only a couple in europe in front of them revenue wise. Everything Fergie does is to win because he is that passionate, he doesn't cheat, he had a go at ashley young for his recent diving exploits and i just don't see how people can give him so much grief when he's done so much for the game. He does talk sh!t but only because all the others managers bite like good uns' Again only IMO.
Webbo Posted 6 May 2012 Posted 6 May 2012 Their position means that they can have the pick of the best youngsters in their catchment area, obviously they'll produce some future stars. I really hope Man City win it, just to spite yoo nited.
NiftyFox Posted 6 May 2012 Posted 6 May 2012 Sir Alex needs to clean his glasses and spit out his chewing gum and realise this is modern day football, clubs are spending big these days.
21st Century Fox Posted 6 May 2012 Posted 6 May 2012 Vincent Kompany £6m Surely this has to be the dawn of some sort of Belgian golden age at the moment. Vertonghen, Kompany, Hazard, Fellaini, Lukaku.
Tielemans63 Posted 6 May 2012 Posted 6 May 2012 . And City had more homegrown players in their line-up! 2, Richards & Hart (I know he's a debatable case) to 1 (36 year old Paul Scholes.
Jimothy Posted 6 May 2012 Posted 6 May 2012 Bit false, seeing as Silva has been left out to include Richards who was free. EDIT: That's the team that finished the game today, whereas Man Utd's is the starting line up from today. But I'm fine with Man City and the spending, all top clubs, and Liverpool, throw money around on players. The De Jong signing was the one that made me laugh though, apparently Hamburg would have taken £3.5m for him, but Man City just steamed in with a £18 bid without even enquiring about him.
ScouseFox Posted 6 May 2012 Posted 6 May 2012 Nah sorry, I didn't do that I just saw someone post it on Twitter and thought it was interesting bear in mind the amount of people who go on about United building a squad and City spending billions more over the last few years.

Yeah I thought that, but United paid over £30m for Berbatov and he's not on there either...
Joe Tebbutt Posted 6 May 2012 Posted 6 May 2012 Shame might be slightly different viewing ;-) but still equally interesting-ish just slightly false...
