shen Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 My Strikers AF my right wing is IF(A) left wing W(A) my cms are CM(s) AP(A) DM(D) and standard cbs and the full backs are automatic. I play direct man mark and drill crosses rest are default What about the mentality? Attacking, normal, defensive? How high do you push up? Is it rigid/normal/fluid? Who are you playing with?
BstarFox Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Attacking fluid and with grimsby in league 1 I used 442 in the last seasons but I don't enjoy it that much I really enjoyed 4-1-2-2-1 and 4-2-3-1 on FM and had success with them but this year nothing
Finnegan Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 It's probably best to not play overly fluid or creative tactics with a lower league side. If you're careful picking your team you can just about get away with a passing game but I wouldn't even do that. Play direct with a lot of pace and width, lots of counter attacking, use shouts like pass in to pace and get ball forward. If you can get from back to front accurately in a few seconds you'll tear league one apart. Speed is very potent at lower levels on FM. I'd play with both wide men as IFs, too, and have them dribbling and cutting inside a lot. The latest patch has done something to my wide men and they're cutting in loads to score some ridiculous goals now. Without changing my tactics I've gone from never having goals of the week to having the top three goals of the year. Crazy.

I've found out that the 'Shoot from Distance' PPM that a certain mr. Sam has, is a farking useless and pain in the ass ability to have, despite his alround great stats for exactly that PPM. Nine times out of ten, he misses the target (BY MILES) and the one time he hits the target it's a tame shot or a floater. Maybe it only works with counter-attacking tactics, even though that doesn't make too much sense to me...
Brainy Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Won the Europa League with Sparta Prague in 2031....... all because I embarrased myself in the CL group stage . First time I hadn't reached the knockout rounds of the CL in about 7 years. Furthest i'd got in the CL was a semi final. Nearly hit 1000 games for Sparta now, getting quite tired of it but still badly wanna win the CL, will require a lot of luck with draws. Louth Arena has now been expanded about 4 times and is now due to be a 65k stadium. Looked back to my first ever league game and I attracted 11k (55% of the capacity) to a home match so we've came quite far . 16 first division titles, 8 FA Cups, 14 Super Cups, 1 Europa League. Need to move to England soon

I'm talking about cutting inside, skinning two or three players and bending or smashing one in from just inside the box. Lorenzo Insigne, Gianluca Caprari and one of my regens are doing it for fun on my Leicester save. It's ridiculous. It's almost like being a winger somehow adds to your pace. They're just zipping straight through teams and burrying it like they're all Cristiano Ronaldo.
Libertine Dream Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Not played this since Christmas, my takeover at Crewe ruined the game for me completely

Admittedly, I haven't been playing too much, but neither Knockaert, Marshall, Sam, Albin or anyone else for that matter have done this on a regular basis. Usually they only find the space when counter-attacking (which my tactic isn't set up to do).
BstarFox Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Can anyone recomened a good downloadable 4-1-2-2-1 or 4-2-3-1 tactic?
shen Posted 25 January 2013 Posted 25 January 2013 Can anyone recomened a good downloadable 4-1-2-2-1 or 4-2-3-1 tactic? Your best bet is to trawl through the SI Games forums. Don't know of any though.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 25 January 2013 Posted 25 January 2013 This is actually a joke. Not won a league game at all, my players just move away from the ball. Tried out so many different tactics. It seems so scripted (I know it is, but this seems unreal) My players miss so many one on ones, free headers inside the box and their keeper saves them. Also so many long range stupid shots when I'm saying retain possession and pass to feet.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 25 January 2013 Posted 25 January 2013 Never been so frustrated with a FM game. The only players who score are my CBs, with Moore having 5 goals. Yet they run up the pitch and my players literally step out of the way and they just tap a goal in. So many times. Not enjoying this years at all. I realise the game has got harder but my squad is more than good enough (even the standard Leicester squad was) to expect a couple of wins in a row.

They got relegated, rock bottom of the league, on my Blackburn game. I quit Rovers to take them back up to the Prem and I'm on the cusp of doing it now.

I was the same, from start of the season untill jan only won about 4/5 games, then messed around with the tatics then went the rest of the season only loosing 2 games.
shen Posted 25 January 2013 Posted 25 January 2013 Maybe I am just a tactical genius then. Mind you, Caprari and Insigne are rapid. I'm sure you are, Finners In this version I pride myself on my awesome defense though. Surprising how well it works with just one centerback...
Finnegan Posted 25 January 2013 Posted 25 January 2013 I've always been a bit of a Kevin Kegan on FM. As long as I've got a better defense than the bottom six I'm usually happy! I remember doing an unbeaten season once with Betis and still had the worst defensive record in the top half.
Ozwin Posted 25 January 2013 Posted 25 January 2013 FM13 is definitely harder, you can't just force a tactic on your team like you could before. It actually takes time for them to play well in it in my experience. It's good but it's also bad when you just want to piss around for a bit on it and you're losing to your own reserves.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 25 January 2013 Posted 25 January 2013 Is FM classic massively different or? Haven't won on that for about 6 games either Don't think there's any coaches or anything like that.
Brainy Posted 25 January 2013 Posted 25 January 2013 20 years at Sparta Prague 997 games, was hoping i'd reach 1000 before the end of the season but not to be the case. One more season then i'm off
SystonFox Posted 25 January 2013 Posted 25 January 2013 Started a new leicester save. Signed : arismendi, meite, Glenn whelan, Adam smith, Eric lichaj, Danny Potts, adryan. Got rid of Danns and Beckford on loan. Currently 15th after around 12 games, keep drawing games or conceding last minute goals to lose. Even after I've changed to defensive tactics. Tight league though, won 3 games in a row and still not moved above 14th. Nugent and Knockaert are awesome. Waggy bags a fair few off the bench. Anyone got a recommendation on a cheap striker in jan? Either perm or loan. Could do with some back up to nuge/knocky/waggy
