davieG Posted 4 July 2012 Posted 4 July 2012 http://www.fifa.com/worldranking/rankingtable/index.html England 4th up two places.
Finnegan Posted 4 July 2012 Posted 4 July 2012 How are we up three places!? Think we've lost twice since the last update. Still above Scotland!!
foxfanazer Posted 4 July 2012 Posted 4 July 2012 I can think of at least 8 countries that are better than us at the moment. These rankings are pointless
foxfanazer Posted 4 July 2012 Posted 4 July 2012 Uruguay aren't that good. Dear me. They have a great attack but that's about it
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 4 July 2012 Posted 4 July 2012 I'm not surprised, not saying the rankings are correct because i think we should be around 8th or 9th, but we had a good tournamnet really if you think about thie injuries and new manager coming in. Not surprised to see Holand drop!
Bert Posted 4 July 2012 Posted 4 July 2012 Yes England don't play great football and it's not pretty to watch. But it's not very often that we lose.
leicesterisme Posted 4 July 2012 Posted 4 July 2012 I cant say I've watched Brazil recently but are they really 1 ranking better than Greece? Us in 4th place, jesus christ.
Corky Posted 4 July 2012 Posted 4 July 2012 They count all sorts of games (tournament matches, qualifiers and friendlies). We don't actually lose that many and win a fair few. Obviously not the really crucial ones but the majority of our games we don't lose.
AyewJoking Posted 4 July 2012 Posted 4 July 2012 Are rankings important when it comes to being seeded at tournaments?
GianEmmo Zola Posted 4 July 2012 Posted 4 July 2012 To be fair, weve only lost 6 times in 48 matches! From capellos reign through to hodgsons.
Bert Posted 4 July 2012 Posted 4 July 2012 To be fair, weve only lost 6 times in 48 matches! From capellos reign through to hodgsons. One in every 8. Absolutely shocking in a results business that.
Jimothy Posted 4 July 2012 Posted 4 July 2012 The rankings look stupid I know, but only look stupid in the same way the tennis rankings can sometimes look stupid, especially the women's. England are forth in the same style Caroline Wozniacki got to world number one. We're consistent, rarely lose friendlies, never get torn a new arsehole by anyone and regularly get to the Euro's and the World Cup. Sure we're not spectacular, and even a little shit at times, but our consistency puts us up there. We're not forth best in the world, like Wozniacki wasn't the best tennis player in the world, but it's done on results, what other way can it be done, and despite our shite performances we regularly get decent results.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 4 July 2012 Posted 4 July 2012 Uruguay have actually not been bad recently, Brazil in 11th however
Fox in the North Posted 4 July 2012 Posted 4 July 2012 Brazil or argentina didn't even make the semi finals of the copa America last year with Paraguay and Uruguay beating both. And they lost to holland and Germany in the world cup, so based on results it works out in a way. Though it's an awful system for rankings x)
Bert Posted 4 July 2012 Posted 4 July 2012 Only the English could moan about being ranked as the 4th best team in the world. Granted we're not. In fact euro 2012 suggests we're not even in the top 4 European teams but it gives out a bit of a fear factor to other teams and helps us with seedlings for qualifications. I'd much rather be an English fan than any of the other British teams at the minute.

Bert Posted 4 July 2012 Posted 4 July 2012 How do you know that other countries fans don't take the piss out of their rankings? Do they then? I've only ever really heard of the shitter nations do so to themselves, but if they were 4th they wouldn't do it, so why do the English? People would moan if we were 15th and moan that we're 4th. No time for anyone that does so, fair enough if it's from another nation but not from your own.

I wouldn't say people are moaning about us being fourth. It's just really a true reflection of where we are at. Rankings don't really mean anything to me
