Has anyone won a competition prize?

A month ago my partner entered a competition in "TAKE A BREAK" magazine.

The prize was of numerous choices, up to the value of £3,000.

We came to the choice of two prizes, a fortnight in Kenya for two valued at the full £3,000, or £1,500 plus a luxury long luxury weekend in Paris, for two. We picked the latter, and will take the Paris trip next year, as we are off to Scotland in September.

I am just wondering, if anyone on the site has been lucky enough to win a competition prize

Closest I've ever came to winning a competition was the design a kit competition by the club few years back, came in final 6 and got given the new shirt and tickets to the Burnley game, which if I remember correctly was an uninspiring defeat!

MrsG used to do comps years ago when they were proper comps not just lucky draws where you had to answer difficult questions and come up with a slogan/strap-line as a tie-breaker.

She won quite a few things including a 5 star Skiing holiday in the French Alps, a top of the range gas cooker, tickets to see Michael Jackson at Wembley,TV, Garden equipment and other miscellaneous items.

She also used to write articles for a Magazine, Competitors Weekly.

She gave it all up when they just started doing easy lucky draws presumably to get more entries.

Well done with the win.

My mum won a £200 phone on a 50p raffle at my brothers football presentation. I've won on those stacked machines in the arcades, once in Skeggy, I won an iPod nano, the latest one at the time and then I won £50 on one in Newquay, it was wrapped around a plastic case.. lol

Won a few little things, $100 worth of pancakes a couple of weeks ago. A marquee for 10 of us at two different hiorse race meets with free grog. A days training with my AFL team including dinner with the players and some Merch.

I think some people are just born lucky and win holidays, cars etc.

I have heard of people that consider themselves pros. at doing competitions and getting many wins. Slogans seem to the forte of many of them. Interesting to know how they manage it.

Went to some function a few years back, think it was the Turnstyle and a birthday do. There was a charity raffle and I won this. Forget who the players are. Kept meaning to get it signed but never got round to it.

It's a framed black and white photo. Pride and place on my wall.

My mam used to enter just about every competition going. She doesn't enter many now but she won a car, numerous holidays and thousands of other prizes. I've only entered a few over the years but I won a meccano set when I was about 7, a few videos and dvds and tickets to Frank Worthington's testamonial. Competitions are more down to complete luck now than anything, they used to be about knowledge or skill. They seem to be used as a fundraiser, ring a premium rate number or some such so they can rake in more than they give away in prizes

Not won anything big. Although never been a big competition enteree. Never trusted them. Always seeing 'So and so won a car why dont you have a go you could too' and I thought no the most they'd give away is a £5 book token, all the others are employees.

But after seeing what some of you have won maybe I was wrong. I always thought there was a catch. Dont get something for nothingand all that.

Once won tickets to the Motor Show at the NEC in birmingham on Leicester Sound but couldn't go so gave them away and also won a place in the Kig Power Fans Challenge game at the end of the season - all I did was retwwet the message I think, I couldn't even remember doing it!
