Daggers Posted 26 July 2012 Posted 26 July 2012 And to think some wanted Pearce as England manager. I'd still like Pearce to be an England manager.
Corky Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 I'd still like Pearce to be an England manager. He's got the passion.
MooseBreath Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 I'd rather have Steve McLaren back as England boss before Pearce. Didn't watch this last night. Won't watch the other games. Crap, pointless tournament which means nothing to anybody.
Simo86 Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 I found it strange that Ramsey and Sinclair were behind Allen and Rose. GB looked a lot more threatening when Ramsey came on

purpleronnie Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 They were sat next to each other in the studio, why didn't they just have a conversation? C'mon now, its 2012 no-one has conversations anymore.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 Was at this last night, the team GB game was a let down, no real passion, didn't even manage to put any effort in to the warm up and played in a typical negative fashion. However the day itself was great and the UAE v Uruguay game was a cracker, very impressed with UAE who played some stunning football at times.
Webbo Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 This was only GBs second game together. Add to the fact that three of our players had to be substituted as a direct result of the reckless tackling of Senegal, with no protection at all from the ref, a draw was an understandable result.
ADK Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 Is it only me who can't stand the team being referred to as "team GB" all the time? Why not Great Britain or just Britain or even GB? We don't call the other teams "team senegal" "team U.A.E" "team uraguay". Just sounds so tacky. Couldn't stand the crap synth drum sound effect on every little replay either.

This, weirdly, is from 2008.

I'm American, and I HATE it how our team is always called, "Team USA." It's stupid, and I'm pretty sure it's also grammatically incorrect.
StanSP Posted 29 July 2012 Posted 29 July 2012 Off to see Team GB vs UAE preceded by Senegal vs Uruguay at Wembley today. Hoping for a good day . I'd be disappointed if GB don't get a win. I wonder if Senegal will be as ruthless and dirty in their tackles vs Uruguay as they were against GB!
purpleronnie Posted 29 July 2012 Posted 29 July 2012 well uruguay are losing 2-0, this could be the end of Team GB's involvement. We'll need to beat UAE and a result against uruguay too.
Jimothy Posted 29 July 2012 Posted 29 July 2012 well uruguay are losing 2-0, this could be the end of Team GB's involvement. We'll need to beat UAE and a result against uruguay too. Bit pessemistic. Uruguay looked poor in large parts against UAE and haven't been great today from what I've seen (although I have been flicking channels). We should beat UAE, and if Uruguay carry on the poor form who''s to say we won't turn them over. You're looking at the Uruguay name and fearing that rather than what's actually happening. The only team this result is bad for is uruguay. If we beat UAE we'll be on 4 points with Senegal, and Uruguay will be on 3, we'll just need to avoid defeat, which I don't think will be that difficult.

This post is almost a caricature of the stereotypical, defeatist mentality that surrounds the English national team. I know GB didn't look outstanding against Senegal, but they are still a capable side--why can't they go out and get those results?

Jimothy Posted 29 July 2012 Posted 29 July 2012 Senegal would be on 4 points Yeah it's the way I worded it, or punctuated should i say. Meant we'll be on 4 with Senegal, and Uruguay will be in 3.
Jordan Posted 29 July 2012 Posted 29 July 2012 Wonderful build-up to the Giggs goal. I hope all of those fans that had been yelling, "SHOOOOOT!" realise how stupid they are.
21st Century Fox Posted 29 July 2012 Posted 29 July 2012 How many accumulators are going to be f**ked if Spain crash out to Honduras?!
