Trav Le Bleu Posted 4 September 2012 Posted 4 September 2012 For those that missed it. "Nice moment for Chris Brownridge, certainly."
marko Posted 4 September 2012 Posted 4 September 2012 Anyone else see the high jump last night for leg amputee's above the knee? Winner cleared 1.78m - incredible stuff!!!
Knightonian Posted 4 September 2012 Posted 4 September 2012 I'm loving the paralympics. Surprised there is not more on here about it.
ScouseFox Posted 4 September 2012 Posted 4 September 2012 My mate's brother David Devine smashed his personal best by 6 seconds in the 1500m to take bronze. SIX seconds! Think it might be a European record too, sure I read that somewhere. Qualified as a fastest loser in 8th place and was pumped just to be in the final and he medalled. Great stuff. He's in the 800m final tomorrow (I think) too.

Northants Fox 3 Posted 6 September 2012 Posted 6 September 2012 OMG!!!!! we are truly shite at Penalty's even our Blind 5 a side lost in a shoot out
purpleronnie Posted 6 September 2012 Posted 6 September 2012 OMG!!!!! we are truly shite at Penalty's even our Blind 5 a side lost in a shoot out I'm surprised anyone scores penalties...seems a massive ask against a goalkeeper who can see and tiny goals.
Super_horns Posted 6 September 2012 Posted 6 September 2012 Atmsophere in the athletics sounded amazing with another 3 golds for GB.
Northants Fox 3 Posted 6 September 2012 Posted 6 September 2012 I'm surprised anyone scores penalties...seems a massive ask against a goalkeeper who can see and tiny goals. True but the coaches stand behind the goal calling to them to show the players the direction to shoot, the China Coach had a metal pole and was banging it again'st the post as a way of directing them...

Raj Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 Wonder if people will continue to follow Disability sport after the Paras or will it just fade away. Hope it continues as they have proved worthy of having the limelight and the accolades they deserve(hope that dont sound patronising?) Enjoyed alot of the stuff...Good luck to em all...
Super_horns Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 That is true...how much will channel 4 cover throughout the year or is it back to Big Brother and the like next week. The BBC do give Olympic sports a fair amout of coverage because of their lack of mainstream sports.
Raj Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 Not just the coverage on TV,what about us,the general public??/ Will we give a fcuk about it after the BIG Olympic set up???
reynard Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 Not just the coverage on TV,what about us,the general public??/ Will we give a fcuk about it after the BIG Olympic set up??? Probably not unfortunately. Football rules in the UK. The papers only really cover football in any depth. Also depends upon how accessible it is. How much will it cost and also how competitive it will be. I went down and had a great time but some of the sports are frankly not that competitive. I'm NOT taking anything away from all the competitors but in some categories there are not sufficient competitors of a high enough standard to make it that interesting. This will change over time but if you want to watch competitive wheelchair basketball then where do you go. The same applies to theOlympic sports. Handball was fantastic to watch but if I want to see a good standard match can I see it in the Uk? I don't think so. All the sports are riding the crest of a wave at the moment but without accessible and affordable good quality competition in the UK I fear interest will soon wane.
Super_horns Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 Its true..most of the events we did best in aren't exactly cheap to compete in although the athletics success might get some out going for a jog if nothing else.
Webbo Posted 9 September 2012 Author Posted 9 September 2012 Good show from Coldplay at the closing ceremony (I don't care I like them).
Jaspa Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 Rihanna joined in on the action too Jay-Z on soon
Rincewind Posted 10 September 2012 Posted 10 September 2012 Can it get much worse? David Cameron followered by some Royal then further into the mire with Boris (A gaff every other word) Johnson.
