Phube Posted 29 August 2012 Posted 29 August 2012 Me, I love a bat shit crazy opening ceremony! Wow so many umbrellas!
Guest Bilo Posted 29 August 2012 Posted 29 August 2012 I'm watching, quite enjoying it to be fair. It's very eccentric, very British. Not as spectacular as the Olympic opening ceremony but still enjoyable.
Phube Posted 29 August 2012 Posted 29 August 2012 It seemed to be quite short to me? It only just started, then BAM! Into the procession!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 29 August 2012 Posted 29 August 2012 It seemed to be quite short to me? It only just started, then BAM! Into the procession! Ableist!
Phube Posted 29 August 2012 Posted 29 August 2012 Ableist! that'll teach me to not notice previous posts!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 29 August 2012 Posted 29 August 2012 Seriously though, did anyone notice the Algerian dwarf? The first time C4 cut to their parade level camera an Algerian dwarf walks up to the camera and flicks the Vs. F*** YOU BRITAIN! I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and it was a "lost in translation" moment.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 30 August 2012 Posted 30 August 2012 Will the paralympics have blind refs? You know, like normal sports.
Northants Fox 3 Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 Will the paralympics have blind refs? You know, like normal sports. Nope.......But is 5 a side Football Blind Football...........

Matt Posted 1 September 2012 Posted 1 September 2012 How come that Oscar Pistorius was allowed to compete in the Olympics and Paralympics? Is it simply a case of he was quick enough to qualify for the Olympic events so he was allowed to compete?

Is it simply a case of he was quick enough to qualify for the Olympic events so he was allowed to compete? Well there was a guy who won one of the 100m classifications (T4?) in 10.54, which I'm pretty sure is faster than some of the slower athletes in the qualifying heats of the olympics. On a different point, did anyone seem Richard Whitehead in the T42 200m? That was JAWDROPPING!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 1 September 2012 Posted 1 September 2012 This is the race I was talking about. Amazing!
purpleronnie Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 This is the race I was talking about. Amazing! Blimey. It really is awe inspiring to watch these athletes....nice to see such huge crowds too....probably because the corporates have fooked off...shame on them.
Parafox Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 Will the paralympics have blind refs? You know, like normal sports. I think some of the officials have disabilities. I hear there's a race starter with tourettes. He shouts take your marks.... FvCK OFF...

Add to that controversy over the classification of some athletes, and the doping and "Boosting". It is no more or less clean or egotistical, it is sport people will do anything to win, my favourite has to be the Spanish paralympic Basketball team, where over half the team had nothing physically or mentally wrong with them.

Maybe so, but it's not like they can play a team of able bods, as players with no or minimal disabilities have high point rankings and a team can only have a set number of aggregate points on the court at one time. So for every high point player, they'd have to pick a player with less points and therefore less ability. Swings and roundabouts.

StanSP Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 Did my first Paralympic ceremony yesterday. Felt very privileged to have given the Gold Flowers to GB. Quite fitting really as they won the final ever event at Eton Dorney of 2012. Was glad to be a part of that ceremony and felt it was a bonus that it was for Great Britain. Even more so that the Countess of Wessex (Prince Edward's wife, and he was there too) presented the flowers too! Off to the Olympic Park - Riverbank Arena/Hockey Centre to be precise - for rehearsals on Thursday and Friday, and then actual ceremonies on Friday and Saturday for 5-a-side football and 7-a-side football. If I'm right in thinking, our team does the last ever victory ceremony of 2012 on Sunday. Gonna try and get in that . Can't wait. But at the same time, I'm gonna be fairly upset that it's all over with in less than a week .
Trav Le Bleu Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 Anyone see George Osborne get roundly booed as he was introduced to the crowd as being someone presenting the medals? Dennis **** would get a better reception at the KP.
Super_horns Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 Puts many sportspeople and non-sportspeople to shame who complain about any little cut or strain.
