Mack Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 If this is a sale fair enough. If this is a loan then it's a brain dead decision. The only reason I can think if for a loan would be the owners wanting to cut costs, but loaning him to a rival club goes against their aims. And I cant see Huddersfield being able to pay even half his wages.
Top cop Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 Beck ford is an over paid, under interested, over rated, under skilled prima donna. If he really wanted to, he could do a good job at this level for us? But all the evidence suggests that he is just not that bothered, so if we keep him, he will occasionally delight, but mostly frustrate. If we can get a decent fee for him, then bye bye. If not, prepare to be habitually disappointed by him.
Babylon Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 This is very true. Hardly he's missed dozens of chances and people still think he's gods gift to finishing on here.

Couldnt have put it better myself, he's a classic "done it at League 1 level" striker, first touch is appalling and I would imagine a dressing room disruption, his "contribution" at Forest in the Cup will live long in the memory after coming on after 10 minutes for the injured Schlupp, shocking display of ineptitude and everything that's wrong with a person who thinks the sun shines out of his behind.
adamlcfcbevo85 Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 talk about jumping the gun , beckford will be in a lcfc shirt next week through till January , not going to sell one of our best strikers, who has had a better attitude and looks like he wants to play, unless Maynard is coming here which I doubt or another proven striker at this level beckford will be staying put !!!
mrmanns84 Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 Sell him ain't really done anything for Lesta and won't be sorely missed but can understand peoples views of he can do it at this level. He just really hasnt performed to a standerd that a main striker should do even tho there was signs of a slight improvement now and then. I'm sure the 30'000 whatever a week can be spent on a more willing player.
paddy Agyemang Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 Pearson is ****ing up a quality player I hope he scores every game for Huddersfield
Guest ttfn Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 Pearson is ****ing up a quality player I hope he scores every game for Huddersfield Yeah he was such a success here under Sven. Bloody Pearson.
absolutelegend Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 Pearson is ****ing up a quality player I hope he scores every game for Huddersfield Yes, because he has been so good since he joined us my god
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 In my opinion we do not currently have enough quality up front. We miss too many guilt edged chances at the moment. I do not care how many strikers we have they are not good enough. We should be sitting on more than 3 points at the moment. The conversion ratio compared to the teams we have played so far is just not good enough. A new striker is needed, even more so if Beckford goes.
tyneside fox Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 Stinks of a repeat of DJ Campbell to me. If you are going to get rid of a decent player sell him not loan him out IMO.Ihope he has a decent replacement lined up because we are going to need one as Schlupp and Waggy arent good enough yet.
Guest ttfn Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 Shame to see Maynard going to Cardiff on the cheap...now there's a proven Championship centre forward if ever I saw one.

I think I'd agree with this, despite good away performances we've not scored the goals we should have, and I seem to remember when we reached the playoffs under Pearson we never really challenged the top 4 spots due to a lack of goals (too many drawn games). So to get rid of one of our better strikers would be a mistake (I know, I know, stats tell us he's no better than Iain Hume!), especially with very little time to get in our own replacement. Perhaps the Rhodes deal was the one everyone was waiting for to trigger a series of deals that were being lined up. I can't imagine that there was lots of money floating around prior to Blackburn chucking £8m in. So maybe Pearson has a deal in place.
paddy Agyemang Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 Yeah he was such a success here under Sven. Bloody Pearson. Reason for why he don't score is the players around him, Leeds built there team round beckford whereas we buy him to play around them
marbelladave Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 Shame to see Maynard going to Cardiff on the cheap...now there's a proven Championship centre forward if ever I saw one. Oh no he isn't...... Oh yes he is....... Continue for 31 pages.........
Benjaldinho Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 Big Mistake in my eyes. Unless theres a proven replacement coming in. he may not have been groundbreaking yet but he will be...Keep him Nige
leicesterisme Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 Reason for why he don't score is the players around him, Leeds built there team round beckford whereas we buy him to play around them In league 1. He's bang average with one of the worst first touches I've seen for a professional footballer.
Fox 4 Life Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 What's the odds on Becks and DJ Campbell firing Huddersfield to promotion while we languish in 9th place......

ibbosuk Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 It's on sky sports now (Ticker) Beckford to join Huddersfield on loan.
Happy Fox Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 It's on sky sports now (Ticker) Beckford to join Huddersfield on loan. Why cannot it be a permanent? they have money don't they, they are screwing us..
FourtyFour Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 oh no sorry it's not lionel. it's his sister, jessie
TrentFox Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 Surprising we didn't go for a sale. Wages off our books is good, but adding a million or two for a sale would be better.
