Or the general dissent in the stands for the past few years? Or notice that they sell out Hampden once in a blue moon? England's "complaints" are completely legitimate, but that doesn't stop us drawing 70,000 to 90,000 for a qualifier against somebody like Andorra for example, or taking 100,000 to Germany or Portugal for tournaments in the past, all despite us not coming close to winning sod all for nearly 50 years. In terms of consistent support, us and the Germans are out there on our own.

Of course, which is why in the last two tournament qualification rounds, from 8 home games they've breached 50k in 5 of them (bear in mind, Hampden is a 52k capacity stadium). And Scotlands aren't? You may not be getting near winning, but at least you're bloody qualifying for the tournaments.
Narborough_fox Posted 8 September 2012 Posted 8 September 2012 I'm more than happy with a point against Serbia, they have some very good players and to keep a clean sheet against one of the stronger teams in the group will be a very big confidence boost. Would prefer Rhodes to start ahead of Miller though, one of them just cost a team £8 million, the other players for Vancouver Whitecaps. Also like to see Matt Phillips been given more of a chance. However, win on Tuesday and it will be a very good start to the campaign. Still don't rate Levein but we can't do much better than him at the moment. Not like any Scottish manager would leave their job in the Premier League to manage a relatively poor Scotland side.
Bugg Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 Levein is fvcking toilet. Scotland might not have a massive berth of good players, but Craig Levein should be doing a lot better with Scotland than they currently are. Why he still plays Kenny Miller is beyond me, he's complete garbage.

Our away support and tournament support is superb, excellent numbers, but the Scots, for a small country who do far less than us, have a great following.

Never said they didn't, them and the Irish both have excellent support. I was just replying to a comment in which they apparently put ours to "shame", when that simply isn't true at all.

Maybe "to shame" was the wrong phrase, it just seems like a section of our fans are constantly negative and always looking to play it down, when it's not as bad as it's made out to be. No doubt fans of the other Home Nations are similar but we tend to head from the English fans a lot more.

With Allen, Collison and Ledley out, and with King in excellent form, I thought he might have got a chance... Mhh, not really. I quite like Edwards, I think he's a very busy player with a lot of energy and I think we needed that really in the middle. King is in reasonable form but I'd say "excellent" is a stretch, it's still early days in the season. I think bringing him on in the second half to drift in from deep was the right ploy, to be honest. I like King at City and at Championship level but, as I've said before, he's way down the pecking order for Wales. I appreciate we aren't world beaters but the central midfield isn't an area we're struggling in. Bad start for Wales anyway. Will be interesting to see if this Belgian side can fulfil their potential... It wasn't a fantastic start but we were excellent defensively, which puts to bed some concerns. Belgium were very, very average and offered little by way of creativity, resorting to Mertens whipping balls in. Their crossing was alright, to be fair, but they never looked like breaking us down from open play and Hazard, Mirallas and Witsel were shockingly quiet. I don't doubt that there are a couple of excellent players in that team but I feel that without Fifa and Football manager, most people in this country wouldn't have heard of most of them and their quality is more than a pinch over-exaggerated by people who clearly haven't actually seen most of them play that often. Can't fault their defensive players, though, and we never really looked much like scoring. We've been a striker short of a tidy side for a long while but with the industry and the creativity of Bale and Ramsey starting to really bloom it just ups the emphasis on our ability to finish.

I get that he won't play but the fact you can get an England call up for a half decent game against Hearts and a few decent touches in 3 Premier League games is really mental. Lallana called up too I read, which is deserved. Better than Cleverly, just doesn't play for United.

If Bale shows up and Serbia don't then maybe. They also have a new gaffer who has started about as badly as Coleman. We lack goals massively, though. A draw is within our reach but I don't see who is going to score. Head says 1 0 Serbia.

Yeah I noticed their recent form was pretty poor. From the little I've seen of him this season I reckon Vidic might be past his best too. I've put my money where my mouth is but only to the tune of a fiver. Really hoping Allen is fit to play. Your prediction could well be right, I'm thinking it will most likely be that scoreline one way or the other.

That said, I rate Serbia as a much better attacking side than the Belgians. You take Hazard out and the latter are very average but against a side like ours Tosic and Tadic are just brilliant.
