Finnegan Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 Can't argue with that. My stream is a bit shit so couldn't really tell if he meant to hit it quite like that but if he did it was amazing. Seemed to swerve about 6 feet! Certainly deliberate, he's been trying it for a few games now. Had a go against Belgium but couldn't quite pull it off. He's obviously been watching Ronaldo a bit. I know its early, Finners, but what are your thoughts on Chris Coleman? Didn't really want him in the first place but wanted him even less when Verheijen quit after his appointment. I don't doubt that Speed was a big part of the newfound confidence and motivation in the squad but Verheijen was the brains and the FAW seriously underestimated how much we needed him. Coleman just doesn't inspire in the same way, we needed a very strong personality to come in after Speed's death who could keep up the same level of passion in the players but wouldn't ruin the Raymond-Roberts double act behind the scenes. Coleman's essentially come in and been neither. Unfortunately, the FAW have a track record of tolerating shit managers (not helped by the fact we're hugely short of viable options) so I don't see him going any time soon. Just going to knuckle down and get used to another four or five years of shit football and us wasting another partial generation of one or two extremely talented players.
BlueSi13 Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 Cleverley should have three and Defoe scored a clear goal, nope Ukarine don't deserve to lead, don't remember Hart having to do much... Eh? Cleverly should have one yes, but three? No chance, each were half chances at best, as for the foul by Defoe im 50/50. Ukraine have looked dangerous, more dynamic, and composed on the ball every time they have come forward. Have we?

Half chance, a ball coming across goal when unmarked and a clear sight of goal from a decent angle, those are chances you should take...

Finnegan Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 I always though it was a step backwards. Yeah but that's life. You can see the shockwaves from Speed's death still lingering in the squad, I'm not sure Coleman was the most sensible replacement for human reasons as well as for footballing ones. The likes of Bellamy have quite publicly come out and admitted to how much of a struggle it's been and for the younger lads Speed very quickly became a very familiar hero and mentor during his short tenure.
Guest ttfn Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 Get Lallana on FFS. No imagination in this midfield.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 Well at least Wales can say their 6th goal was fortunate..
Finnegan Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 I can't wait to hear Coleman's excuses for this one.
ScouseFox Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 It really does all fall apart at the back without JT. We look so poor defensively, every time they attack there's people out of position, people losing runners etc. Crazy that fans want Terry dropped.

We've shipped six to a developing nation and you're moaning about being poor at the back? Have a word mate!
Corky Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 Get Lallana on FFS. No imagination in this midfield. Or even Sterling. The Ukrainians won't know much about him so the surprise package element may work.

Yeah but you're Wales, you're meant to be that shit! There's no way I should be shitting one every time Ukraine counter against us at home.
davieG Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 I still don't think the Gerrard/Lampard combo works
purpleronnie Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 I still don't think the Gerrard/Lampard combo works you and 99.9% of people with eyes.....that work.
Finnegan Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 I've put on 5live to cheer myself up so you're probably certain to turn it around now.
leicesterisme Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 Passing football tends to work when you can pass the ball, we cant.
Voll Blau Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 Looks like there's a large Finnish community in the East Midlands... (Taken from their game against France)
davieG Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 you and 99.9% of people with eyes.....that work. You mean I'm not unique or original - bollocks, I thought I was bringing serious insight into the world of International football to the forum.
Finnegan Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 You mean I'm not unique or original - bollocks, I thought I was bringing serious insight into the world of International football to the forum. lol All of Wales on text: "He plays on the left, he plays on the leeeeeeeft, can you hear us Chris Coleman? Bale plays on the left!" lol !
James. Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 Win, lose or draw there is something so uniquely depressing about watching England play at Wembley. I think it's a combination of the style of football, the awful atmosphere, that fcking band, the players, the commentators, the fact they're often on ITV, those stupid empty corporate seats, that band, the fact I'm missing some far more entertaining on TV like Don't Tell The Bride, the chants, the long balls and that annoying, mind numbing cvnting band.
davieG Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 They seem to have perfected the art of gamesmanship or at least they're better at it than us.
