Alexikokopops Posted 12 September 2012 Posted 12 September 2012 I've just been reading this. I want them all. http://www.redonline.co.uk/food/10-best/10-best-vegetarian-dinner-party-recipes
Zingari Posted 12 September 2012 Posted 12 September 2012 Nothing quite as satisfying as being filled by a big chunk of meat oooh errr missus no !
The Doctor Posted 12 September 2012 Posted 12 September 2012 No dice - If/when I finally get the motivation to cook rather than not bothering to eat, I've got a load of mince, turkey and bacon in my freezer to be used.
Charl91 Posted 12 September 2012 Posted 12 September 2012 I honestly couldn't do it. My diet is too awful - most of it is meat. Without it, I would probably be living on bread, cereal and potatos. I only just managed to start eating spaghetti!

Finally someone the same as me, I pretty much have only ever eaten meat, potatoes, bread and cereal as well. Never liked or touched a vegetable in my life.
I am Rod Hull Posted 12 September 2012 Author Posted 12 September 2012 Trial aborted due to me being pissed when I posted I was given a veggie curry from an Indian lass that owns my local chippy and it was that good I thought I could live on it for a week....

The food was incredible and (apart from the bigger cities) all vegetarian. The most flavoursome food I've ever had. I've only ever found one Indian restaurant in the UK that does food like it and I'm not telling any of you where that is

An estimated 30+% of Indians are Veggies. No wonder they are so boney

I've developed a slightly unnerving love for aubergine curry. I'm not sure it should work, but it does. And masala dosas. Mmmmmmm.... dosa...
The Doctor Posted 13 September 2012 Posted 13 September 2012 some of my mates dishes now he dont eat meat Fried Sea Bream, rice an gravy he does eat meat then...

I've only ever found one Indian restaurant in the UK that does food like it and I'm not telling any of you where that is I had some great Indian veggie food at a curry house near the Phoenix not that long ago, a set veggie menu that was fantastic, can't remember the name, might knock up a potato curry tonight see how that goes down. There used to be a really good veggie curry house on Belgrave road, I think it has gone now, but that was quality too, on the corner with Loughborough road.

Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 13 September 2012 Posted 13 September 2012 I've always been an omnivore as human teeth, coupled with our ability to digest most known carbohydrates, proteins, fibres (i.e. just about anything the animal kingdom considers "edible") have proved we are "meant" to be omnivorous, but I have found myself lately wanting meat less. On the whole I don't avoid meat and hate pushy vegetarians, but I could live without it quite comfortably. The only meat I actively avoid is imported cheap pork - anyone who's seen or read about those cages they farm pigs in will tell you how despicable it is, 100x worse than battery hen farming. I also refuse to buy battery eggs, and try to avoid battery chicken - although the price of free-range chicken meat can sometimes be a bit too prohibitive. Pastas, pizzas, soups, pies, stir-fries, curries, sandwiches, fruits, vegetables... happy to eat anything except meat-replacement garbage. Tofu isn't a foodstuff. Neither is Quorn. And Linda McCartney's sausages are quite possibly the most unpleasant tasting thing found in any supermarket (and that includes the shit in the skip around the back, with flies buzzing around it).

Because if it isn't then your list is now made up of 2 restaurants. This place is lovely. http://www.rasarestaurants.com/UserPages/Viewrestaurantdetails.aspx?restid=33 I kind of thought it might be as you're pretty close to Stoke Newington.
Webbo Posted 13 September 2012 Posted 13 September 2012 I had a mushroom curry at an Indian restaurant once. I love mushrooms but the meal wasn't really satisfying though. I think it was the lack of chewing that ruined it.
m00nie Posted 13 September 2012 Posted 13 September 2012 he does eat meat then... haha yea, ok, now hes a pectorism ?? no meat only fish..

Completely vegetarian, healthy, tasty and cheap. I'm going to be a vegetarian at least once a month now.

Last time I was there we went there as a group of 7, had two courses, could barely move, and it came to the grand total of £77. Don't trust what Time Out have to say, they're clearly idiots. It's very home run, and run down inside, but the food is magnificent. I will check out Rasa.
Monk Posted 13 September 2012 Posted 13 September 2012 I've only ever found one Indian restaurant in the UK that does food like it and I'm not telling any of you where that is Tayyabs?
Alexikokopops Posted 13 September 2012 Posted 13 September 2012 Tayyabs? I still haven't been there actually. I need to get my arse in gear.
Monk Posted 13 September 2012 Posted 13 September 2012 I still haven't been there actually. I need to get my arse in gear. Damn! That place actually reaches the very short list of reasons I was sad to leave London.
Dr The Singh Posted 13 September 2012 Posted 13 September 2012 Most Sikhs would say the best vegetarian food is 'langar'. It is by far the best veggie food I ever tasted, and it's free aswell.
