seenitall Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 It probably was, but my point is that I am baffled by your reaction, its absolutely pathetic. That's because you can't see through my wit and wisdom chap - I know Pearson should be kept on and I know its only 5 games - message boards bring out the worst in people. having said that, starting a game like we finish it would be a major step forward - please relax a little, you get far too worked up for a young un
ScouseFox Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 Same old, same old. I only watched the first 25 then went back to bed because I was hanging to fùck but even from that it was obvious we weren't going to win. Not sure what it is about this team but I can't remember the last time I actually thought we'd win an away game. Woeful defensive lapses are becoming a theme too, which is mental considering that's about the only thing you'd actually expect of a Pearson team. Becoming a real chore to even watch us at the moment.
sdb Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 If Pearson gets sacked i'm gonna give footy a break for a bit. How are people not bored of the same old chopping and changing we go through EVERY FECKING YEAR?! Some of you have goldfish memories.
Thracian Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 Knockaert: is a good player but he is an impact sub. The bloke ran himself into the ground in the time he was on the pitch and towards the end he was already tiring. I just can't see why so many people do not see how a whole defence shifts to one side when they have the pace of Dyer shitting bricks out of their right back. Nugent: Its the same old story with the fans on this one, he isn't scoring every game so drop him, the bloke needs a goal he cannot get that from the bench. He was our top striker last season. He scored MORE than everyones bum boy Beckford and has played and scored at the top level of football. You don't turn shit over night . Moore: Is a traditional CB, I just cannot see why our fans want a CB who pisses about with the ball. Everyone loved Bamba because he brought the ball out and 'passed' the ball to feat, they forget though the amount of times he lost the ball doing so and nearly cost us, I refer you to one of Morgans scuff up's today whre he did the same. Moore like a good CB gets rid and tbh I would prefer that then lose the ball in a dangerous position. Bring on the next game. We are creating chances and playing well. The results will follow. Just be god damn patient. If we were playing shite and losing every game I would understand everyone's reactions but christ all mighty we are doing alright. There's a lot of sense in what you say. Knockaert tried hard but too often he simply ran into the Wolves defence and it might also be mentioned that Dyer weighted the perfect pass to Nugent just before half-time and would have been roundly applauded for it had Nugent done what he should have done and scored. We lost today because we scored only one goal from countless attacks and Wolves scored two from considerably fewer but also because we conceded the first half initiative by not closing down quickly and high up the pitch as one unit and because we floated far too many inaccurate high crosses as our final ball instead of having the patience to keep picking out our floor passes which caused much more trouble in the Wolves rearguard. There was no excusing Konchesky and De Laet losing their man for the goals but they wouldn't have come if we hadn't conceded an unnecessary free-kick in a dangerous place for the first and hadn't allowed a flick-on at the near post which gave Stearman his chance. And even the two goals wouldn't have mattered if Nugent had scored his first half sitter and Waghorn had hit his even easier finish across goal as he should instead of going for the near post and nudging the wrong side of the post. There were other chances too but the first requirement is to keep the ball down and too often we failed to do that - and not for the first time. Wolves really did look awful and unambitious after their second goal but, while there was much to commend our build-up we simply didn't have the ruthlessness to be winners and that word has cropped up time and again in our after-defeat inquests. There are still weaknesses in our team but the lack of a winners attitude was the biggest shortcoming. When are we finally going to play for a full 90 minutes instead of an hour or less, score the first goal and let the opposition worry about where to find our slipscream? Our big problem now is that, once again, we're fast slipping off the pace and the next thing to slip will be our confidence and self-belief. And yet we really do need to be patient because we've had the better of all our games so far apart from the scoreline and played some exciting, enterprising football. Our need now is for a focused mental attitude farther than any great upheaval within the team or management. All that said I'd definitely sign Heskey if possible. Our team needs some presence.
ScouseFox Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 Shit the bed, Konchesky's goal was feckin' good though.
ScouseFox Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 Also, what happened to King? Just seen in the MOTM thread that he went off after 31 minutes? Injured? Badly?
Number 6 Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 Most worrying thing for me is players keep saying on Twitter we deserved more. We deserve nothing - points have to be earned.

A perfect way to highlight the problems without being irrational, you have summarised my thinking exactly and agree entirely on the dyer/knocky situation. Glad to see I'm not alone.
Corky Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 Also, what happened to King? Just seen in the MOTM thread that he went off after 31 minutes? Injured? Badly? Hamstring apparently. Shame, he was part of our best move in the first half.
ScouseFox Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 Hamstring apparently. Shame, he was part of our best move in the first half. Ahh balls. Was just doing well, too.
ibbosuk Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 Another dissapointing result under Pearson. Not good enough in terms of points or league position.
Guest ttfn Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 When was the last time we were 2 down and got anything out of a game? I actually can't remember.
Daggers Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 Nige didn't make any bad decisions?! Nige didn't decide that Konchesky wouldn't follow his man, neither did he decide that De Laet would stand and watch Stearman score So, in other words, you're saying that Pearson (a good ex-defender who knows what is required) has failed to sort out a defence after almost a year in the job and a summer to strengthen the back four. Are we hanging out waiting for him to get a magic wand off Top on his first year anniversary? In the meantime, I suggest we grab every black chicken, bottle of black liquor, bags of black rice and as many black eggs as we can hold and start praying like fvck to Rahu.
Corky Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 When was the last time we were 2 down and got anything out of a game? I actually can't remember. Leeds at home springs to mind. Boxing Day 2010.
FoxyPV Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 Usual problems. Poor defending from set pieces and an inability to convert our chances. I thought we looked good in periods but the two early goals killed any chance of us getting anything from this match. I'd love to say I'm shocked we'd lost but I'd be lying.
leicesterseddon Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 Most worrying thing for me is players keep saying on Twitter we deserved more. We deserve nothing - points have to be earned. I fear self-pity is going to become a destructive force at the club again, like in the second half of last season. Went today, wish I hadn't. Wolves were dreadful and so were we. Only 5 games in, and NP does deserve more time to bring the squad together...but I honestly could not say our team is any better than last year's, which is saying something. For a long time now lots of us have liked to believe we are a good team playing badly. Sadly I just think we are a bad team.
MANFACE Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 I thought we played bloody well today. Look forward to the rest of the season.

reynard Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 We can't defend set pieces. A lack of height throughout the team is a serious problem here. No leadership on the pitch (what the hell is Morgan doing? he should be organising and cajoling but i see no sign of it). Our midfield is lightweight and doesn't keep the ball well enough or show enough movement off the ball. We can't score. Our corners? Well we may as well not bother as we don't look threatening. Again lack of height. Please please stop just punting the ball up from the back to our strikers. They did not win one header all afternoon. The manager needs to work out something else here. Why bother with two wideplayers when we hardly ever use the width if the pitch? Apart from these things it is all going well and we are looking great.
Corky Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 Agree with Thrac. I like the way we are trying to play but we're off the pace already. Might be time for pragmatism, shame.
roblcfc84 Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 Poor result today. But I think anyone calling for Pearson to be sacked needs to chill out a bit. I know post game emotions run high but to give a different take on things, I think there's a lot of positives from this season and this afternoon. Certainly second half we dominated the game, Wolves created very little indeed. We are consistently getting in good positions and it's just not quite clicking, but take today for example unlucky hitting the post and spurned a few good opportunities. That said, at least we are creating chances. We have also shown that we can pass the ball and keep possession. Aside from some simple sloppy mistakes I personally think we have looked pretty decent. A contributing factor has been injuries to two cb's leaving us vulnerable. Moore is still very young and inexperienced and at times it showed today. But this is a period of transition, Pearson has a young squad and is still trying to build his own team. Coupled with the fact that the club are clearly cutting back on expenditure, I think a little patience is needed. I've seen enough to be confident this work in progress will come good. Promotion is not guaranteed for any club in the championship, and therefore 5 games in this league means nothing. Trust I was seriously frustrated this afternoon but can also see the bigger picture. This is a good team, I just Pearson gets the chance to see it through. Poor result today. But I think anyone calling for Pearson to be sacked needs to chill out a bit. ADK Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 Our main problem is the strikers, we've played 5 matches so far and our strikers have managed to score 1 goal.
