I welcome these areas - that way people who want to stand can, people who don't want to can sit down.  You know what you're going to get.

I've had times this season when I've been sitting in my seat and the two people in front of me have decided to stand all match.  The stewards didn't stop them, and they ruined the match for me.  Whether they like it or not, the seat is currently for sitting on.  I didn't say anything to them as they'd clearly had a few and looked the types that would have welcomed the argument.

This thing seems to be driven by people who want to stand, but I truly think sitters should be getting just as much involved in it.

Truly do feel for fans who get their enjoyment ruined by fans that want to stand.

You don't see anybody without a clue having an opinion often on the news (usually deliberately if so) so why should the safe standing 'debate' be different - Aspinall has so much authority on a subject she knows close to nothing about, she amongst others keep coming out with some nonsense about "going back", it's quite clear to see it's not a backwards step.

"I don't think you can have any form of standing anyway without pens, cages, fences or whatever,"

Huh? She is blinded with grief.

And she has obviously not even entertained the idea of reading up on it.

I hope when the new inquiry into the hillsborough disaster is finished she and the rest of the hillsborough justice group disappear.

I wonder, has she written to Peterborough, Scunthorpe, Yeovil, Bristol Rovers, AFC Wimbledon, York, Burton and the rest of the clubs who old-style or fairly new terraces, as they obviously can't be safe can they?

The same old themes regurgitated again. Not "appropriate" because it happens to be 25 years since the Hillsborough Disaster was essentially the case he provided for his view.

It's not even close to being a good argument. No facts, no evidence, just a few pictures of children crying to stir people's emotions.

This whole debate really has highlighted the incredible number of people who are pig ignorant. It's astonishing.

They're not ignorant they know perfectly well that there is no logical reason to say no they are just being purposely obtuse because they want to stay in control on top of that they have no personal interest or need for it in their prawn sandwich executive cushioned free seats.

you surprised??

I'm not but we should be. The level of morality in this country is at an all-time low.

A fair argument too actually. **** them.

Interesting debate between Alastair Campbell and Danny Kelly in today's Observer (page 4 of the review section).

Also a small article in the Observer's Sport section.

Momentum is increasing.

Hopefully in a few years all grounds will have a safe standing section. I would love to see the whole Kop End of the King Power as a safe standing terrace. Get all the singers in there and create an atmosphere to rival the German clubs.

One can dream!!!!!

That would be awesome, but the whole kop would be difficult, having to relocate 3 or 4k wouldn't go down well at all.Unless there were promised padded seats elsewhere, that might tempt them.

You couldn't do it immediately. It would have to be gradual.

But over time people's mindset would be changed. They have been conditioned to sit so they can be conditioned to stand again as well.

Reading, yes Reading, have come out in support of it. Seeing as only 70%ish were in favour, I would have had them nailed on as anti so absolutely fair play to them.

"Safe? United reportedly back calls for the standing terraces to be reintroduced"

Just can't help themselves can they? Yet another occasion where a journalist misleads the public about what direction we're heading

That was a caption beneath the picture. I think the fact that their headline says 'Manchester United get behind calls for safe-standing terraces to be introduced in the Premier League' means that they're not intending to mislead at all.

The rest of the article was a lot better, I agree. Just irks me whenever I see people suggest, deliberately or accidentally, that Safe Standing is a return to what we had before.

As promised, here is the link to the draft e-mail to send to the Club. Please do send it on if you are pro-choice as this will certainly have an impact.

Cheers,

Union FS

I asked Susan Whelan tonight whether she was able to disclose the answers that the club gave to these 4 questions, but she said it remains confidential. I did try though, sorry!
