Ridiculous how German and other European teams have it week in week out without incident but they don't even consider/trial it here. Hopefully Celtic having it next season will see it spread through the UK.

In modern stadiums and with the level of planning going into football now i don't think people can use the Hillsborough disaster as a reason against safe standing.

They shouldn't but even though this concept is completely different Margaret still says it's taking a step back to 'the bad old days' and unfortunately politicians listen to her.

The club do actually need to be approached again about this what with the stadium expansion supposedly starting in the autumn

True its an ideal time to rejig and fine tune the stadium if they choose to expand.

A second tier on the East Stand and a Safe Standing Kop would be unreal, plus it would take the capacity to 40K+

As much as I think it's brilliant they are building a section of Safe Standing at Celtic, I can't help but feel this could do our argument for it more harm than good.

If I am not mistaken they are giving the section to the Green Brigade. I just hope they don't act like idiots in it and give the anti standing brigade any ammo.

Yeah, they've got a terrible behaviour record in recent years, I can see them fvcking it up and putting us back another 5 years.

Unforutantely the media seem to love to absolutely slate Celtic and Ragers, look at the media coverage when Celtic set off pyro compared to Dundee United when they played Celtic a few days ago.

In the lets face it quite likely event that they decide to see off pyro or likewise, the media will have a field day and safe standing will be even further off.

"But a support group for families who lost loved ones in the Hillsborough disaster said it would never change its view that standing is dangerous."

**** off! Leaving extra gates open, letting too many fans in to the ground, incompetent policing, 7ft palisade fences are dangerous. Not people who stand at the football.

Morons of the highest order. If they genuinely cared for football fans they would listen and see that there are advances in technology such that standing can actually make fans safer.

It's so backwards it's unreal. Look at their kop lol lol

There's a poll at the bottom of the Mirror link I posted. 80% say they're in favour of a return to standing

That's quite a low percentage of people in support compared to some polls that have been conducted. I'm sure I've seen one where support has been as high as 90%.

Even at 90% it surprises me how low that is. How can anyone be against providing a safe choice that eve fits everybody?

Oh yeah, selfish ignorance. We're top at that in this country.

I was listening to them talk about the Celtic issue on talksport yesterday. It got me thinking (not sure if this is worth a poll or not) so I'll stick it in here for now.

Assuming, Safe standing ever comes in, the likely hood is, that from a club point of view at LCFC, they would install it in the kop.

So this is mainly aimed at L1, would people be likely to oppose safe standing in the kop, if it meant the club adopted a policy, in which they said, fine we have safe standing, if you wish to stand then there is your option, however we are going to police other areas of the ground with a much firmer line. ie they would try to clamp down on L1 and people at the rear of the family stand etc ?

I can see that happening to be honest. It benefits the club because they can say they're offering a clear choice (let's not forget L1 was never meant to be what it is now, the away end was opposite the "home end" for a reason when the ground was built). Not saying I'm in favour of it because obviously there are plenty of lads in L1 who all know each other and it'd be sad to dismantle that, but from the club's point of view it would makes sense.

They could all congregate near each other on a safe standing terrace though.

Anyone who would chose staying in L1 over moving to a section of our ground built for standing and singing needs their head checking!

The atmosphere throughout the ground would be a million times better if a safe standing area existed in the South Stand (perhaps lower half of the Kop with a gap so that those sitting in the upper section can be seated) and L1 joined those Kopites wishing to stand in the centre of the Kop. That number of singers congregated together would have a much greater influence on the ground's atmosphere than having two separate sections as we do at the moment.

Sod that.

I like my view from the back row, It needs a few blocks all standing, not half and half.
