A lot of footballers do. Its something to do with having smaller 'trainer sock' like socks are comfier to play in so they wear them with the top half of the 'kit' sock over them. There was a big thing about it at the beginning of the season saything that they had to be the same colour as the kit etc.

He made one 'forwards' tackle to giveaway a free kick, not so sure on the goal, Whitbread should been much, much stronger IMO.
