My Nads Posted 30 November 2012 Posted 30 November 2012 Too inconsistent, great some games, then didn't show up others. Good job we haven't got anyone like that anymore
ozleicester Posted 30 November 2012 Posted 30 November 2012 I miss him, was a quality player and i think like a number of others, was playing a game that the entire side hadnt quite got its head around. Im not saying that Drinky or Marshall are not as good, but I like what he offered when given the chance. As to his cost, that really shouldnt be a part of what he was like as a player, we all try to get the most we can from the boss, doesnt make us a better or worse player/worker.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 30 November 2012 Posted 30 November 2012 Where did all this he was on 40k come from? He was signed when Milan was at the helm wasn't he? If so he never threw around that sort of coin on wages.
artursteppe Posted 30 November 2012 Posted 30 November 2012 I liked Yuki, he was quality, just here at the wrong time. I told friends at the pre season match against Sunderland that Drinkwater would run the show for us this season, would be our main man. They viewed my comments with suspicion, I piss them off because I see stuff before them. Take it from me, if Yuki were with us now, with this bunch of players we would be even better than we are. A choice of Drinky, King, Yuki with James as fourth choice would have been fantastic. In my view, much as I have always liked Drinkwater from the start, saw his potential before most and believe him to be one of the most effective central midfield players in the Championship, I really think Yuki would have been even better.
the new guy Posted 30 November 2012 Posted 30 November 2012 Not sure if trolling, or not? Abe made a nusience of himself... a bit like fly buzzing around a much bigger creature... a nusience but easily swatted off Drinkwater can dominate midfields - From what I've seen this season, Drinky, King & James are a different class Yuki > James
flowwolf Posted 30 November 2012 Posted 30 November 2012 No he was too light weight as is king and Drinkwater. This season has shown that against physically strong teams Drinkwater and King are easily dominated (Leeds for example ) we need a tough tackling play maker in midfield and a quality striker to compliment Nugent in the January transfer window. If Nigel can get that right I see no reason why we can't have a top two finish.
Captain... Posted 30 November 2012 Posted 30 November 2012 No he was too light weight as is king and Drinkwater. This season has shown that against physically strong teams Drinkwater and King are easily dominated after gifting a goal to a team who then decided they didn't want to play football anymore and just wanted to stop up playing (Leeds for example ) we need a tough tackling play maker in midfield and a quality striker to compliment Nugent in the January transfer window. If Nigel can get that right I see no reason why we can't have a top two finish. Fixed it for you. Don't see the Leeds game as fair reflection, if they hadn't scored so early and shut up shop we would have had the chance to impose our game on Leeds.

Don't see the Leeds game as fair reflection, if they hadn't scored so early and shut up shop we would have had the chance to impose our game on Leeds. Yes they scored very early and we had nearly the whole game left to put it right but we were unable too. If we are unable to unlock a side like Leeds then we can forget a top two finish. Yet again we had scoring chances but not enough quality up front to make it count. No Nugent means we struggle to score and we can't get away from that.
Dan Posted 30 November 2012 Posted 30 November 2012 I quite liked Abe, thought he was a decent retainer of the ball and would've actually fitted into this current side of ours. But if he was really on £40k a week then we made the right move. What an appallingly stupid salary to pay out to someone who's come from a completely different style of football. Decent player but for what we paid I expected the leagues top player.

No Nugent means we struggle to score and we can't get away from that. So was it the strikers fault or the midfield? We didn't create too many clear but chances from what I saw of the highlights I don't know if Nugent would have made a big difference. My point was against Leeds we only got 'dominated' in midfield because they were sitting on the lead focussing on stopping up play and not on scoring. We have generally bossed the middle this season, and looking to replace one of them for the few games when we do get a bit overrun. We do need a plan b in these situations, but plan a is doing pretty well for us so far.

Its no wonder Pearsons stuck by keeping Dyer imagine how much strength we would have in midfield without him we would be simular to a netball team
Guest Col city fan Posted 30 November 2012 Posted 30 November 2012 Always thought Yuki was really really average. And said so at the time. The midfield now is much better. Although imagine it with Jay Thomas in it! That'd be, like, amazin!

Although imagine it with Jay Thomas in it! That'd be, like, amazin! . Yeah pretty average player, thought his free kicks and corners were supposed to be amazing! Got outmuscled too much for a Championship player, I forgot all about him to be honest.

Arriba Los Zorros Posted 30 November 2012 Posted 30 November 2012 hell yes, absolutely underrated midfield metronome, incredibly 2-footed tidy player who kept moves ticking over, and was also calm and able to find a pass under pressure *breathe* might get slated for this but he was a bit 'Santi Cazorla' in my opinion and would fit really well in this current team
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 30 November 2012 Posted 30 November 2012 I miss his throw-ins, don't miss his chant.
Bert Posted 1 December 2012 Posted 1 December 2012 You miss Beckford... He wasn't on £40,000 a week though. Over Beckford now. We're doing better without.

fleckneymike Posted 1 December 2012 Posted 1 December 2012 Yuki was reportedly on a higher wage than many of his team mates BUT it is important to remember that it is the custom in Japanese football for the player to pay his former club his transfer fee, this means the buying club inflate his wages in order that he might pass the fee on.
