The big kit launch

Recommended Posts

Does anybody think its pretty poor that they bigged up the Kit launch so much only to give us the exact same design as the other teams wearing PUMA?

I know that Reading and Watford have the same kit in essence, with the patch on the shoulder. It's not something I'm going to lose sleep over but its pretty poor that they took so long to release the design of the kit and bigged up how unique it is when it really isn't. A classic case of commercialism and clever marketing.

With things looking pretty rosy on the pirch, just thought I'd moan about something as is my prerogative being a Leicester fan!

I do yes but they took so long because of where to position the sponsor and Leicester badge...

At least next season we have a bespoke kit. I've started a thread on here which was along the lines of. 'For the fans, by the fans'. We have some good designers on this forum and I'm thinking about seeing if the club would let us make some designs for next season.

Sounds a good idea  Generic kits designed by big companies are getting worse and worse, IMO this season's is one of the ugliest we've ever had, not quite as bad as the Topps Tiles one but not too far behind. There have been far better ones designed on here.

+ Sheffield Wednesday. I hate the idea of having a template kit too. It takes away the uniqueness of a football club.

You'll never see a top Premier League team with one of these template kits because they're regarded as more important than the rest, really annoys me.

Or because they have more money, or longer standing kit deals, or can make the manufacturer more money.

Yeah, that's a cracking idea. Was quality over the summer, looking at all the kits people threw into the mix. I'm sure they did it a few years back where children could the design the kit and we had some say in the 125 anniversary kit but it would make more sense to poll the best designs as the club is likely to see an increase in the shirt sales plus it would improve the owner/fan relationship if people felt that had a say in some things.

My point still stands.

I hate the concept of my club being left with a template kit making them appear less important than others. In addition, its not as if all Football League clubs have template kits which demonstrates how easy it would be for us to avoid the detestable things - Luton Town in the conference, for example, do not have a template kit. Did they sway their manufactures with the prospect of huge sums of money? I hardly think so.

Great idea.

Anything to increase the influence the fans have over the club can only be a good thing.

Red away kit please.
