Barnsley Post Match

Ok been in pub for an hour to reflect now.

Ok it wasnt great but 18 months ago we would have lost that game. Small progress?

As for pearsons tactics. I think today we had to many 5/6 out of 10. Subs should have been different yes. Should have taken dyer off 1st for fuctas and gone 3 up top. Then taken king off to make it 4 plus knockeart. Marshall wasnt needed or good enough today.

But its hardly the end of the world. 3 big games next. Important to take points of millwall and cardiff.

Thought the midfield was passed by today, Morgan was our best attacking midfielder at times. And thought King especially was overrun by stronger players.

Takes a good team to take a point when they arn't at their best though. Hard games to come though.

Well done mate. As usual spot on. I too thought the midfield was overrun. For some reason, from about 15 mins in, whenever THEY had the ball in the centre, they seemed to have a lot of time on it. Whenever WE did (eg. Knocky) they pounced and we lost it far too quickly.

I think King is wasted where he plays. He's a gifted player who is expected to get too involved in a defensive situation, which renders his bursts into the opposition box too infrequent IMO.

The one time he was laid in, by Nugent, he brought out another top save by Steele. I fear a little for King playing in a 4-4-2 next week at Millwall. He's always got a goal in him, but I don't want to see him overrun like was last season at the New Den.

Knockeart was piss poor today. Tidy finish for his goal but the only other contribution he made was to languish on the ball and give it away. I think Pearson got the subs right, but think Futacs should have been on 15 mins earlier. But tbh we were quite poor, I couldn't remember us winning the 2nd ball once. But a point is a point :-)

Bad display today on a fans fixture - this display was not entertaining so will not bring in the fans.

Thank god we got a draw so my weekends not completely ruined - I get moody after a lost match!

Good first and last 10, inbetween was woeful. I'm sure Col and crew will blame the midfield, but we were pressured and not given time all over the field from front to back, not just in the middle.

You need to win the right to play your football and they just seemed to put in that little bit extra in every position that meant we lacked time to compose ourselves and make our extra quality pay.

One extra defensive player in the middle wouldn't have made that much difference as we were losing the ball in every single position due to their pressing game.

Disappointing, one of them games where the oppo scores all their chances and we miss a hatful. On to the next game and look forward to hopefully adding that little bit extra we need in January.

Not good enough. Thought Barnsley were an embarrassment and we've failed to beat them.

One of them days I guess, but awful timing for it - we now need something from Millwall, IMO.

Agree he wasn't having a great game but like u said who was??

At least when he's on the pitch there's a chance that his tricks will unlock something especially when teams sit with 10 men behind the ball

But he offered very little today, he didn't look capable of unlocking things. He does a few good things a game, but his passing at times is awful, plays so many wrong passes it's frustrating.

Everyone was sucking up to Knockaert when he first joined including myself, people saying this is a player we have wished for, for a very long time. Now look at him, past three-four home games he has been one of our worst players, despite us playing really well in most of them. People expect too much of him after the way he performed in his first two months at the club, but currently he is a very overrated player.

In my opinion in some games, we could really do with 3 in midfield, with the way Millwall play in an aggressive manner, and with a physical Trotter in midfield, we could do with compacting that area and bring in James for maybe Knockaert or Dyer. Morgan did push forward a lot in the second half, but that was simply because we needed a goal, the whole defensive pushed pretty high. King and Drinkwater were poor in the first half, but in my opinion in the second half they were two of our better players.

Because Cardiff actually have good players

Yeah, we're so awful we've scored 12 in our last three home games.

What an absolute mammary gland.

That little bit extra being?.....

Well I'm no football manager.

But I would say a centre back (maybe just Keane on loan), a quality striker/finisher and an all action CM to replace Danns who clearly has no future here.

In the same way marshall was poor and did nothing?

Ak scored yes? Im not his biggest fan. But he has something different. Does pardew take beh arfa off did fergie take eric off. The last 15 mins when defenders are tried and by throwing it long we are in and around the box i'd want ak on.

I wonder how many of the squad popped into a bookies in the morning?

Well I did.. And had my pants pulled down...

Knockaerts biggest problems are his lack of pace and inability to do the simple things. One he can do nothing about, the other he can.

The only thing knocky has in common with those two is his nationality!lol

I'd take their keeper, their grey haired defender, bellamey and whittingham over any of our players you gland!

You don't think they'd take Knockaert, Nugent, Morgan or Schmeichel then?

An all action central midfielder, haven't we got three of them already?

I think their keeper is better / more consistent than schmeichel. Better on crosses and less likely to drop the ball on crosses. I think whittingham is better than any of our players, one of the best in the league, and naughton is quality. Obviously knockert and morgan are good players too, but cardiff are a stronger outfit in my opinion ...

I stated I thought this would be a tough game, and expected a close win. It seems we were lucky to get a point.

There is no need to panic, but we really must win these sort of games, if we are to gain promotion this season It's worrying we leaked to goals against a mediocre attack

We need a striker, and I would personally be looking Inverness Cally Thistle striker, Billy McKay. I saw him a couple of times a few months ago, when I was in Scotland. He is fast, highly skilled, and has an extremely clever footballing brain.. Added to that, he is a terrier with a high work ethic, and it is only a matter of time before other clubs will be chasing him.

Was it not Marshall who put the ball in for whit read to knock down for Vardy? I'm not denying knockeart scored, I'm saying apart from that he did nothing and actually looked very petulant. What's knocky have in comparison to Ben arfa or Éric ( I assume Cantona)? Greatest of respects he has not got anything near the capabilities of those two. He does offer something different when he wants to, today he wasn't. Much like the rest of the team.

I'm sure McKay is a product of our academy. Sounds familiar anyway.
