SmithyFox12 Posted 3 January 2013 Posted 3 January 2013 Sky Sports understands that Leicester City have turned down a bid from League Two Bristol Rovers for Cian Bolger.Bolger linked up with them again this summer, but that deal came to an end on January 1st, and Rovers lodged an offer to take him on a permanent basis after he recently returned from a knee injury. However, Leicester have rejected that bid and there is believed to be interest from other clubs in landing the highly-rated Irishman. Thoughts?
RizLCFC Posted 3 January 2013 Posted 3 January 2013 Looked quite poor when he came on in pre season games, similar story to Tom Parkes, best for him to leave permanently and develop in lower leagues.
Lambert09 Posted 3 January 2013 Posted 3 January 2013 Good to see we are playing hard ball for once. Usually we let players like this go for any offer on the table
Fox92 Posted 3 January 2013 Posted 3 January 2013 Well, I don't think I've seen him play so can't comment on his ability. But if Nigel, who was a solid defender, thinks he is decent enough to keep then I'll back it. He's only young remember and can improve. The loan spell at Bristol Rovers should be doing him well, although he was injured.
Dan Posted 3 January 2013 Posted 3 January 2013 Never rated him in truth, him & Parkes have always flattered to deceive, best of luck to both though.
Finnegan Posted 3 January 2013 Posted 3 January 2013 I remember reading a Brizzle board in the summer when I think we were linked to some winger of theirs. They were quite fond of Parkes and Bolger and they certainly rated him at that level.

SmithyFox12 Posted 3 January 2013 Author Posted 3 January 2013 Bristol Rovers, just for the info, have just signed another defender... does that mean they'll be withdrawing their interest for Bolger?
Finnegan Posted 3 January 2013 Posted 3 January 2013 Mustapha Caryol, moved to Middlesbrough in the summer. That's the bean.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 3 January 2013 Posted 3 January 2013 I thought they had no money? Thats why McGhee left ?
chrishlcfc Posted 3 January 2013 Posted 3 January 2013 I thought they had no money? Thats why McGhee left ? Really i just thought mcghee left because he was a shit manager doing a shit job.
whitlock Posted 3 January 2013 Posted 3 January 2013 Maybe they have just offered a shit fee... I don't think it's been rejected because he is in NP plans...
General Smuts Posted 3 January 2013 Posted 3 January 2013 Maybe they have just offered a shit fee... I don't think it's been rejected because he is in NP plans... My thought straight away. Offer a fiver and it'll get rejected.

Libertine Dream Posted 3 January 2013 Posted 3 January 2013 According to their forum they offered 50k and his contract is up in June. Cant see it getting extended, they might up the bid to 75k, might aswell accept it, pay someplayers wage for a week
Yojoe36 Posted 3 January 2013 Posted 3 January 2013 Would of been better for him to go really, and get the games in. But obviously we don't know the offer. Could of been a box of Cheerios for all we know
ScouseFox Posted 3 January 2013 Posted 3 January 2013 My mate reckons they offered 50k (he supports 'em), and it was rejected. They've signed someone else but he's not too sure if it's instead or hopefully as well as, bit of disagreement about that from their "ITK"s. Not sure why we'd reject anything reasonable, having seen them both play a few times for Rovers, and seen them play together I'd say Parkes was the better of the two and we sold him. Oh and McGhee was sacked because he's shit and a cúnt and they were bottom of the whole football league.
SmithyFox12 Posted 3 January 2013 Author Posted 3 January 2013 Bristol Rovers manager on Bolger bid: "I'm not sure if we can go and improve on that bid at the moment as the cash flow is not as nice as we'd like it." http://www.sportinglife.com/football/news/article/360/8378948/leicester-snub-bolger-bid?
Narborough_fox Posted 4 January 2013 Posted 4 January 2013 50 k would cover mills' wages for 2 weeks Aye, shame he plays for Bolton now though...
Foxhateram Posted 4 January 2013 Posted 4 January 2013 I like Cian, seen him play a few times a Bristol and seems a solid player. Especially good in the air. Him and Parkes made a great pairing too. Bristol fans have nothing but good things to say about him. Think he will be champ quality eventually, just not yet.
