ADK Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 Great post. This thread highlights not only how great things are going right now, but also how important Pearson is and how successful he's been so far. One thing though - that Barnsley game, I think it's been 'misremembered' by a lot people. My view of the game at the time was that, yes we played poorly, but it wasn't a horrible performance. We conceded two sloppy goals and were made to look silly by Drinkwater, but we tried throughout the match to get back into it, we didn't create much of any note but the effort was there just no quality. But the majority of the fans were on the player's backs for most of the 2nd half - and the booing at the end was disgraceful. If they hadn't put the effort in then fair play but... Kind of agree with this, we conceded the exact game same goal twice. Out to their wide man -> overlap -> crossed in -> target man scores. But i remember apart from that we wernt horrible, Wellens missed a good chance to equalise. You have to remember that Barnsley were a decent mid table side back then too, with Drinkwater and Vaz Te running the show. Felt it was abit of an over reaction from our lot, you'd have thought we'd done a Birmingham and lost 5-0.
flowwolf Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 I can do much worse than that mate What has this poor bugger done to get such constant slagging you ought to be ashamed of your selves.

It possibly wasn't the worst performance (Millwall would probably win that), but everything surrounding it that I mentioned- the booing, the post-match comments, the run we'd been on and the display all added up to being the lowest point for me.
David Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 Great post. The appointment of Sven was exciting, so were his signings and we were involved in some great games. The problem was he brought in a team of talented individuals on big money.. Some of them turned out terrible, some did well and Im glad Pearson kept a few. If you stuck Yakubu in the current team he would be fantastic im sure, or Naughton or even Van Aanholt. All of the signings together was the issue. Ive never been Pearsons biggest fan (and was disappointed when we brought him back) but what he has done very well, is combine the players from Sven (that were a good fit) with experience Championship players and young, hungry players (who learnt their trade at the top academies) Additionally, it is mainly a British squad. As I said on my first post on this forum last week, we have a team that is very young and talented, that I strongly believe will get better with age. Whether we go up, or stay down, not much change is needed. A couple of good, solid additions would be enough.
iamafox Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 I reckon we're currently in the best era of our club since O'Neill was here. Given the time that Pearson has had since he came back, he has done a great job with building the squad and not paying over the odds on big-names. In Nigel we trust
Happy Fox Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 Those Burgers Michael Johnson ate make him look clinically obese
kingfox Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 How in the blue hell did you end up with -59 rep points!? Accused of spoiling threads. It's called 'Banter'.. They just can't handle it.
Dan Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 When you look at that team you wonder how the fcuk we managed to rack up 58million worth of debt, wtf did Sven spend it on? Michael Johnson.
Dan Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 That's where 'banter' gets you Come on Kingfox, self-proclaimed 'banter king' is terrible.
cambridgefox Posted 2 April 2013 Posted 2 April 2013 A year ago today we lost 2-1 at home to Barnsley, in what I certainly consider to be the lowest point of last season. It was at the end of a quite dreadful six weeks, in which we'd had mediocre home draws against strugglers in Peterborough, Ipswich and Portsmouth, as well as a shocking defeat and display at Doncaster. The Barnsley match was just desperate, and in truth we were fortunate it was only 1-2. It is most memorable for the booing before the final whistle and Pearson's after-match comments about "delusions of grandeur" within the club, which didn't go down well with the fans who'd watched yet another uninspiring display from a highly paid and underachieving team. Looking at us now, we are almost unrecognisable. Different personnel within the squad, and most importantly a different attitude. We are 12 points better off today, 12 places higher up and scoring more goals. It's not 100% perfect but we've made huge strides in the last year, we look more of a team and a unit plus we also look consistent. Our home form is much improved, our away form is starting to turn and the fans are increasingly behind the players (with the exception of the Gallagher booing). The starting line-up and subs that day show that only Schmeichel, Konchesky, King, Dyer and Nugent are still regulars from the 16 (although St Ledger would be and Gallagher is back in contention). One crucial factor on that day, and our season right now, was Danny Drinkwater, who ran the game for Barnsley and is currently pulling the strings in our midfield. Pearson has done well to turn us around from that point, and we are certainly heading in the right direction. The mood on here is significantly different to a year ago and as fans we are looking forward to matches at the moment. It feels much better to be a Leicester fan today. Guess what I just stumbled across in highest rep points.Sorry Corky, but I was pissing myself, just how quickly things change.
red5 Posted 2 April 2013 Posted 2 April 2013 Nigel Pearson after signing Wes and Marshall last season said something along the lines of that not only are they good players but they have good attitudes and are nice people and that is vital within a football club. I could not agree more and NP has once again been proven correct. haha I love it, just go away pearson and take fvck 0ff marshall with you.
Swiss_tony Posted 2 April 2013 Posted 2 April 2013 after 40 games last year we had 56 pts. so he's improved us by 3 pts in 12 months of hard work on the training ground.
Donut Posted 2 April 2013 Posted 2 April 2013 after 40 games last year we had 56 pts. so he's improved us by 3 pts in 12 moths of hard work on the training ground. Whilst also having to start correcting the financial side of the club and reshape the squad in fairness Supposing we beat Brighton on saturday and return into the playoffs, i think this is a position most of us would have been pretty content with at the start of the season. It is only the fact that the recent run has been so bad that has polarised opinion.
Munshi Posted 2 April 2013 Posted 2 April 2013 Guess what I just stumbled across in highest rep points. Sorry Corky, but I was pissing myself, just how quickly things change. How do you check the highest rep points?
cambridgefox Posted 3 April 2013 Posted 3 April 2013 How do you check the highest rep points? on the main page 3/4 of the way down in blue, near " today's top posters"" overall top posters" not many but love the Chinese school chant on YouTube.
Guest Bilo Posted 3 April 2013 Posted 3 April 2013 When you get Chinese kids to sing We Love You Leicester you get 50 odd rep points, I get English kids to sing When You're Tired and Weary and get a disciplinary. Double standards.
