Hullfox Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 Despite the club saying all day that the game was on I made the decision not to travel because of the conditions. - I expect nothing and deserve nothing from the club. It was circumstances that conspired against many of us, not the club.
Guest ttfn Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 Walk in the snow for an hour in a suit and trousers and see what it does to them, it's not generally good. Yes I had a ticket. I did, the trousers were fine. Some roughage on the shoes. Estimated wear and tear of £2.75. As I say, people made their choices and they dont have to defend them to anybody. But the club shouldn't feel obliged to offer people free stuff at future because they didn't have the right clothes to go to a game for which they had previously bought a ticket.

Don't think anyone has said 'obliged'. More that it would be great PR/customer service to do so considering the situation. Theres a reason we have 10,000+ empty seats every game and it's not because of the football this season.
RonnieTodger Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 C ENGLISH GCSE Maybe you would have gotten a B if you knew that rule. Edit: Nevermind, you did the Foundation paper. Could've been eligible for the Higher one though!
AlphaMaleFox Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 Do they think the club will etch "LOYAL SUPPORTER" onto their gravestone? Perhaps they will be on Tv or be an icon like Jobber! This is why Arsenal fanbs are paying £82 tickets cos the fans are too LOYAL o boycott! People really should start thinking about the importance (or lack of) of football...its only a fcuking bunch of over paid primadonnas kicking a bag of air. That tw@t Scouse manager who said it was more important than life really must have been a lonely man!!
davieG Posted 21 January 2013 Author Posted 21 January 2013 Oh well at least our foxestalk topic on it is getting a mention, in fact I think that's where he got most of his 'facts' from. http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/boro-fc/boro-fc-news/2013/01/21/84229-32647266/?
Hullfox Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 True... But you'd think it was a nice gesture and good PR if they did give you a small token though wouldn't you? Yes but that doesn't mean that they should. Even then a small gesture would be deemed a disgrace by some on here though. The club upheld their end of the deal, I didn't.
Bettsj2 Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 Ok, if I potentially wanted to get there a) without a ticket b) with clothing I could probably have frozen to death wearing and c) in shoes that aren't brilliant when walking on the pavement let alone snow and ice for 8 miles, I could potentially have got there barring death. That's not really an option though is it? I've not said they owe anyone anything, I've said it's good PR to give a gesture. I wouldn't expect anyone to get any kind of refund. As a season ticket holder I'm covered, I get ticket exchange. It wouldn't hurt them to offer people with unused tickets the same (we have 8000 spare seats after all) or at least their free shitty beer and pie or a fiver off another game or something. It's not like it was a small number of people, it's 12,000 + people we're talking about here, a rather large chunk of the fan base. Shoes that aren't brilliant even for walking on a pavement? What the hell are they?
Guest ttfn Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 Don't think anyone has said 'obliged'. More that it would be great PR/customer service to do so considering the situation. Theres a reason we have 10,000+ empty seats every game and it's not because of the football this season. Come on, there are plenty of people on here implying that. Something which would be "good PR" wouldn't get 12 pages (and counting). A lot of people on here seem to think they're owed something because the game went ahead and they didn't go.
Babylon Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 Shoes that aren't brilliant even for walking on a pavement? What the hell are they? Crappy black work shoes with little to no grip. Fine for getting on and off buses, not so much 8 mile snow hikes!

A lot of people on here seem to think they're owed something because the game went ahead and they didn't go. Most of the 12 pages are me, and I've got a free ticket to another game. I'm happy with that! Most big companies we deal with at work do what they can, even with small gestures to keep customers happy. If someone writes to them saying they enjoy their product, they send a a coupon for money off their next purchase to reward loyalty. If someone writes to them and says they didn't enjoy their product, they still send them coupons in the hope they try again and have a better experience. It doesn't cost them much in the grand scheme of things, its something they dont have to do, but it gives people a the perception they are bothered and care... Which is valuable to any company. If they are going to treat people as customers and not fans, they should do it properly IMO.

And when situations like that arise good companies generally realise there is something in the complaints or the situation and set up something to entice those people back.

Babylon Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 Home in an hour today, amazing what you can do with no gorps on the road!
Storming Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 If it wasn't snowing, even with it being on TV we would have got 21,000 plus. So what exactly is your point? I know that but because it was on and you had to get Cold, Wet and maybe walk some people took the easy option
ADK Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 Would be good customer relations to offer a refund or at least an exchange for a free ticket to another match. We arnt broke so its not like they couldn't afford it and they can see clearly that many of the ticket holders wern't able to go to the game.
Storming Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 Lets give Boro a point aswell as some of their support couldnt cheer them on ? Nice PR ?
Danno Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 Not the clubs fault so they're under no obligation to refund you. They put the game on so it's not their fault that you couldn't attend the game. If the game was called off then yes, they should refund you, but as the game went ahead, there is no need to.
Foxblogger Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 Would be good customer relations to offer a refund or at least an exchange for a free ticket to another match. We arnt broke so its not like they couldn't afford it and they can see clearly that many of the ticket holders wern't able to go to the game. The club is losing tens of millions of pounds a season and has debts of more than £50m. Whilst technically we aren't broke its easy to see why the game went ahead for commercial reasons and why refunds etc. have not been forthcoming. NB: The above is not a comment on the rights and wrongs of that decision. Just some context.
glen parva fox Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 Would it have been called off if it wasn't on Sky! aka Ipswich
fleckneymike Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 The money for sky is hardly a euro millions win. It went ahead because there was no reason for it not to.
Guest MattP Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 The club is losing tens of millions of pounds a season and has debts of more than £50m. Exactly, you would think trying to fill 10,000 empty seats would be a priority. Lets give Boro a point aswell as some of their support couldnt cheer them on ? Nice PR ? Yes that's exactly the same as enticing supporters into the stadium next time around. What a ridiculous statement.
Kitchandro Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 I know that but because it was on and you had to get Cold, Wet and maybe walk some people took the easy option When they'd already bought a ticket?
