JonnyBoy Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 people complicate weight loss so much Its all about trying to achieve a calories defecit. People think certain 'healthy clean foods' make you lose more weight than others. You can eat macdonalds every day and lose weight if it fits your macros. Or you can eat chicken, brown rice and broccoli all day and put on three stone in a month its these 'fitness gurus' who brainwash peoples minds. Could someone tell me what a 'clean food;'is please? i'm about to go on a calorie defecit to lose body fat and maintain muscle, and sure i will be eating low calorie food like turkey and rice cakes but will also achieve my goal by incorporating foods i love into my macros. The sooner people realise this IIFYM approach the better bump

JonnyBoy Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 I think the obsession with calories is a bit of a falsehood, you can consume as many calories as you want as long as you burn them off, I think you need to be more aware of the amount of fat you consume, that is really the problem, being too fat, I know calories lead to fat, but so does fat, I get pissed off when I see low calorie options that are actually very fatty. I'm currently trying to shift a couple of pounds, but by changing my habits, such as stopping snacking on cheese and bread, and eating smaller portions and cooking more from scratch and doing more exercise. what do you mean? fat contributes to calories? and its not the amount of fat you consume, its whether your total macro nutrient intake is of a surplus or a defecit which will determine if you will lose weight or gain weight also, for me to maintain muscle and burn fat my fat actually increases, my carbs lowered and protein increases

JonnyBoy Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 I'm sure you were perpetuating the lots of small meals/metabolism myth at some point. yea that was to stop cravings rather than having a direct effect upon weight loss
Unabomber Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 smash green tea, around 8 cups a day, always do your cardio when you first wake up before any food Have the most carbs for your 1st meal (thus being low Glycemix index) and also for your other meals throughout the day (sweet potatoes, brown rice etc) Dont eat Carbs after 6 dont eat bread, replace with rye snack on grapefruit, berries and other dark fruit eat frequently (6 small meals a day) have a cheat day every 12-15 days (pig out on what you want) If your a chilli fan then thats good news, add chilli's to your meals as this helps burn fat make sure your cardio is High intensity interval training as this targets fat loss Wait what?
JonnyBoy Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 Wait what? some of that info was dodgy from me, i will put my hands up scrap the meal frequency and breakfast ballsh*t
Unabomber Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 some of that info was dodgy from me, i will put my hands up scrap the meal frequency and breakfast ballsh*t There is nothing wrong with bread, especially if you are fitting it into your macros, it is the diet on a whole that should be judged not individual foods. "Don't eat carbs after 6pm" This is absolutely not true as your body doesn't digest and expend calories based on what time you eat. There is no need for cheat days if you are fitting foods that you enjoy into your diet.

Even what i said last year may be true as there is no proven evidence but i don't agree with what i said ... i fully agree with the IIFYM approach having read upon a lot about it over the last 6 months and i am with you on the whole eating carbs after 6 approach

yorkie1999 Posted 17 February 2014 Posted 17 February 2014 "And today on Weight Fighters, we welcome Mandy from Somerset, who has lost an incredible 3 stone in one week, how have you managed it Mandy?""I've stopped going to McDonalds, KFC and Burger King and the local Kebab shop" she said."That must have taken some will power Mandy?""Not really", she said, "I can't swim!
Charl91 Posted 17 February 2014 Posted 17 February 2014 I lost about a stone before Christmas. Was pretty easy - I just didn't eat as much as normal.
kingcarr21 Posted 17 February 2014 Posted 17 February 2014 Im currently 15n a half stone and decided to get bk to the gym last week (I lost 3 stone 3 years ago but put it all bk on) Im struggling to think of some nice tasty meals to eat throughout the day. When i lost the weight previously the only thing i really did was watch how much carbs i was eating and to stop snacking inbetween meals. (Im a chocolate fiend but i lost my weight in a 6 month period not having a single choccy bar ) I feel like i have forgot what sort of meals i was eating before. Im going to the gym 5 days a week doing a mixture of cardio and muscle training. Can anyone give some good points on tasty meals or gd exercise workouts. i have lost the weight before so i know that what i did before worked but would like some fresh ideas please Also people are suggesting eating belvita biscuits as a snack what are peoples opinions on these as im not sure if a biscuit can really b that gd for u or is it a case of it just not being as bad as a choc bar. Weight watchers choccy bars i also find a bit suspicious
Monk Posted 17 February 2014 Posted 17 February 2014 Eating biscuits as a snack when you're trying to lose weight? Sounds like a great plan!

Weight watchers choccy bars i also find a bit suspicious Honestly, you're better off not snacking - it's snacking that normally makes people gain weight. Weightwatches stuff is awful. It's really expensive, and it's slightly less calories because they give you smaller portions.

This is true, weight watchers stuff is low calorie but they fail to mention that this is because the things are half the size.
Zingari Posted 17 February 2014 Posted 17 February 2014 I can still fit into the same thing as I got married in some 40 years ago i got married in Leicester registry office and i can still fit into it
Merging Cultures Posted 17 February 2014 Posted 17 February 2014 I'm currently 18stone (255lbs, 115.6kg). I think this is the heaviest I've been. 2012 I was down to 14stone (200lbs, 90kg) and ran a marathon. 2013 went through a job crisis, and we had our second child. 2014 is going to be the year to lose it and keep it off.
