Spieth's pre shot routine looks like an orangutan falling out of a tree

I've seen people banging on about it like he's doing some kind of spider on a hot tin, but it's just a simple over the top feeling. Not really too bad.

Yeah at most I’ll be playing once, possibly twice a fortnight at a push so should hopefully be better value than a membership at one course. Thing with me is just finding time to get out there and play unfortunately.

If you fancy company when using your away points,  give us a shout.

Ive not heard Jordan or Cameron McCormick's comments on what theyre working on, but id strongly suspect he doesnt like the feeling of his arms getting behind his body.

With someone like Spieth who is generating 115mph+ with a driver, if his arms were to start getting behind his body, he would have to do something on his downswing to counteract this, most likely things like hanging on his right side whilst his arms fling out towards the ball.

This is a bit of a death move for someone who has his speed, because he then has to (under pressure) time the slowing down of his body to then allow his arms to fling out back in front of him. Youd often see Jordan "chicken wing" in the follow through..... instinctively he would feel the club face was shut as the club comes into the ball from an inside-out path.

Id suspect the rehearsal move is his way of feeling the arms stay in front of the body all the time. Club stays in front, upper body unwinds, path more neutral into the ball, and therefore his ball flight becomes more neutral without compensatory moves.

I dont think even though he won that its natural to him yet, but a lot of players have similar-ish swing thoughts and feels to that.

Fancy Morikawa and Hovland in the Zurich Classic. Could be the dream team if they hit it off together.

Some interesting pairings and always a fun watch but the 'walk on music' at this tourney can get right in the bin.

Had a round yesterday up Longcliffe

Was absolutely flying by my standards.

Was in the green side bunker for 2 on the 9th, uphill par 4 Stroke 1, when I thinned the bunker shot and ended up on the 7th fairway. Walked off with a 7 on that to go out in 46 😫

By the 11th hole I’d three putted 6 times

Played some beautiful golf really, knowing I was on to a good score I kept playing sensibly.

Par 3 15th is always tricky as the tee is massively elevated and the wind was crazy Got it on the green, but a long way from the pin and proceeded to 4 putt 😫😫😫

Overall I three putted 7 times and 4 putted once and still walked off with my lowest ever score of 91.

Sleepless night last night thinking of all those putts though (I’m usually pretty good with the putter)

Birdied the last though which was nice

@The Year Of The Fox Thats solid playing mate, especially in very gusty conditions like those today. The best players in the world struggle to play to their best in really tough winds so well done.

I played Rothley and shot 35 points in a stableford today. Just treacherous on the greens with the wind though. Some of the longer par 4s were playing downwind today which was a relief but it was a real battle at times. Swing wasnt great but the short game was bailing me out thankfully and to be fair, ive worked hard on my short game and its been paying dividends. Just like you missed a couple of par putts from inside 4 feet today which really annoyed me but every round is like that in terms of what could have been. On another day a few putts i holed would have missed so its swings and roundabouts.

Didnt realise Harvey played golf. Ive seen quite a few ex footballers up Lingdale from time to time. Craig Burley played there quite a bit

Im finding im having some problems this year with my right arm. It doesnt feel like elbow pain, its more forearm type pain. It takes a while to warm up and then i feel ok, but after a round my arm will go very stiff again.

Im beginning to think (as im getting older) its equipment related. I switched to Taylormade P790 irons this year having previously played PXG Gen 2 P's.

The PXG's felt softer at impact, with the foam insert in the face, the feeling was buttery. Off the Taylormades, the ball feels ok from a tee peg on a par 3, but if the ball is sat down in the fairway and you catch the ball even half a groove low, the feedback is awful from them and they really jar the joints.

I played the same dynamic gold x100 shaft in both (so very hard), but in the PXG the impact feels smoother, off the Taylormade it can be absolutely rock hard and thats a bit off putting.

I think Gary McAllister was a member at Longcliffe. Not sure if he still is or even living in the area any more. Muzzy plays a bit of golf as does Kingy.

Lilian Nalis liked to play in his time off. Never saw him play but Calum Davidson was reportedly a very good player.

A lot of footballers are aren’t they ?

Combination of natural sporting talent and a lot of time on their hands. I remember Julian Dicks toying with the idea of turning pro. I played behind Shearer, Newell and Ruddock at Formby - all decent golfers although I imagine Ruddock might struggle to turn these days !

Jimmy Bullard was a scratch golfer I believe.

He was, he briefly flirted with the europro tour which is a couple of levels below european tour level.

I may have imagined it, but im 99% sure Andrey Shevchenko played in a european tour event (badly).

I wish I’d have asked him how Longcliffe compares to the 9 holes at Seagrave now it’s under the club’s ownership

Asked him how he’d got on and he said ‘Not very well’ but complimented on the course. Said he’d played here only one time before

He was with a couple of academy players I believe. Sat outside the 19th hole totally unrecognisable afterwards.

Think Holloway was a member at LC back in the day. He lived in the big house on the corner of the road opposite The Priory

Cheers. I had a restless night thinking of all those missed putts!

Shot 94 today. Was absolutely flying until the 15th today. A thinned wedge over the green on the 16th. A duffed approach shot on the 14th and 17th. And another thinned wedge on the 18th

I knew I was flying but I think my mate done me really, when he told me that the breaking 90 was still on on the 16th tee. Just subconsciously started trying harder I think.

im just happy that apart from towards the end today I’m now creaming every iron I’m hitting. I couldn’t stop duffing or thinning them 2 weeks ago

He used to live up the top of Thringstone/Whitwick near the Hare and Hounds. Not sure if he still does

Still Covid positive, but feeling alright, so working on my golf game lol

I book and pay online and go out first thing on my own, so not in contact with anyone else.

Went out yesterday, the first 9 was a dream. I was only 3 over par at the turn! Then the back 9 happened. I was chasing a score and trying to break 80, head completely went and came back in 48.

Incredibly frustrating as I'm normally better on the back 9.

Out again at 7am.

Got to make the most of it whilst I can't go to work or anywhere else. Gutted I'm not going to the Roma game on Thursday. Legally I could go to work and the football, but morally, I won't.

So I'll just enjoy the golf course for a few more days :D

Teed off at 7 this morning, then decided to go round again when I'd finished lol

Much better second round. Highlight was a pin high 5 iron on a 185 yard par 3...sunk the 8 footer for a birdie 2

Going to sleep for a few hours, everything hurts!

Well done mate, really well played. I dont know if its the first time youve done it, or a long time since doing it, but breaking 80 is one of those milestone moments in a golfing life that once overcome can really build the confidence in your game.

Also, its possibly shown you that you can still score well without playing perfectly. I bet if you analyse your round, you could think of two shots you could have saved....theres a 75. So if you keep chipping away at your score theres always little gains to make.

what course is this just out of interest? I dont recognise the scorecard but theres some very exotic hole names :)

Thanks mate.

Its Delapre Golf Course in Northampton. Only a par 69 and not the most challenging of courses, but I'm still over the moon with that.

This was my 10th round there. I've parred almost every hole, it's just putting it all together in the same round.

I got some lucky bounces on the front 9 and the golfing gods were definitely smiling on me!

Driver has been hit and miss, so kept it in the bag and used the 3 wood instead on most holes. The only real difference between driver and 3 wood for me is a few yards roll. I'd rather hit the fairway consistently and be 15 yards shorter than risk going way right.

Irons were superb though, hit a couple of good ones early and gave me the confidence. I was pinging 6 irons from 165 yards in to the heart of greens, I can't usually do that!

As mentioned, my back has been sore at the base of my spine, I honestly think it made me slow down and focus more!

Broke 80 twice in my life previously, both 79, both at the par 70 Western Park about 15 years ago!

Par 3's are massive for scoring though. Played the 4 of them to par today, makes a huge difference. That 2 on the card looks great, the 3's do too.

I try to play to 5 a hole as par, gets you 90. So if I hit a 3, that's 2 under in my head. Let's me know exactly where I am with my overall score.

Those last 3 holes were pressure...it was like I was holding off the field to take home the Claret Jug lol

Get on Rory in play at 12/1 in the Wells Fargo

Only made the cut on the mark and 10 shots adrift, now only 3 behind.

Fitzpatrick also in the hunt for his first PGA tour win

I know you know your golf so stuck a ton on after reading your recommendation. Not been able to check my account or the result yet though. 💰
