Yes mate. We went on tour there about 5 years ago (the Welsh Rugby team stayed there at the same time!)

Great venue and two cracking courses. The Welsh National is a brute (the 2nd is a 600 yard par 5 IIRC) and the Lakes course has got water everywhere (funnily enough!)

It's a bit of a trek to get there but you'll love it

It really looks class. I’m just hoping the weather holds out decent.

There’s about 30 of us going I think. The lad who organises it does a cracking job of it all. Think we’re playing the National twice and the Lake Course once

Wow £55 a round is way over my threshold of £40 max.

Whilst its a lot, i can definitely recommend longcliffe its definitely one of the best if not THE best course in Leicestershire. Id say Luffenham Heath is the other absolute premier course.

I think Kibworth is an underrated one in Leicestershire. Greens are superb in summer there.

All subjective but to me its average (being diplomatic).

Theyre trying to take the venue down a corporate golf type route which for me just isnt the right model.

The course is built on a small piece of land which winds its way around trees. It has some good holes on it....the opening hole is a strong opening, the 5th or 6th is a hogsback type fairway around a gentle left to right dogleg and thats a strong hole.

Theyve managed to build one of the most utterly diabolical par 5s on the 11th. Probably one of the worst holes ever. You tee off down hill and right to left, you then hit off a severe downslope to lay up onto a severe upslope on the other side.

And then when you go into the green, its so steep that unless the pin is at the very back and youre under the pin, youll probably not be able to putt the ball to the hole without aiming miles away from the hole or tapping it for fear of missing the green.

Other than that its an enjoyable enough day.

Driving range wildly over priced.

For £20 odd as it was a couple of years ago it was excellent in the summer months. Very picturesque, some tough holes, especially the 9th, 11th and 18th

As SP says, they’ve upped the prices quite a lot now- I think we played a few months back in the winter and it was £30

Their memberships are more than Longcliffes now though, which is absolutely bonkers if you compare both courses

My dad was a member in the late 90s early 00s and it was £800 a year back then, which I thought was astronomical for that course. It’s bang average.

Longclffe's a lovely course with some great holes,  plays harder than it looks and in great condition in the summer months.  Luffenham is the pick of the Leicestershire bunch,  though its a long way out and believe the green fee's are now £90.  I'd put Hinckley just behind Longcliffe in third place.

Great news about Tiger.

Best tournament in golf is back this week and I’m buzzing for it. Going for a DJ outright win and a Vik Hovland E/W. Can’t wait for it to start now 🤩

Oh yes it's masters time, bring it on.

New single malt on the way, loads of decent beer for the 4 days and finalising my bets.

Still leaning towards Cameron Smith, his approach play is phenomenal.

Bloody love it

Just picked up golf and still on the driving range but planning on working up to the par 3s and a full course during the year.

Who are good players to watch on tour in terms of technique to help with my own novice level? I'm a lefty.

Happy Masters Day :D

Justin Thomas or Cam Smith for me this year.

But intrigued to see how the younger guys get on, some of which are in much better form than the likes of DJ, Rory & Spieth.

Looking forward to the Masters again this year. As usual it’s got a very open look to it. Amazing to see Tiger make it as well.

My 2 picks to go well would be Morikawa and Hovland.

Of the big favourites I really like Smith here.

I actually think it might go to someone further down the odds though.

I have had a speculative punt on Robert Macintyre e/w at very long odds.

I've no idea who to back. Honesty, anyone of about 30 of them could win it.

All I hope is that:

a) Tiger makes the cut and shows he's still got it

b) A European wins

c) It's a close final round and not a procession

Think I'm gonna have to add Jack Nicklaus to my death list for next year after watching the honorary starters :( Poor bloke looked like he was really struggling and showed every one of his 82 years.

Gary Player on the other hand :o What incredible nick he's in for 86, still fit as a fiddle

And good to see To Watson joining them and getting all emotional. What a great tradition it is.

You could do a lot worse than looking at Adam Scott.

Widely regarded as one of the best swings in the game, very similar to a young Tiger Woods, mainly because they were both coached by Butch Harmon.

And as I type this, he's just hit a terrible shot over the back of the green lol

Hovland, Niemann, Scheffler to win.

Sepp Straka top 10.

Tiger and De Chambeau not to make the cut.

Those are my bets this year. Also had Morikawa in Skybet's HotShots.

I can't really give too many tips, I've been playing since I was about 6 and probably do everything wrong, but I feel comfortable with it!

Keep your head still, don't worry too much about club speed to start with, you can work on that in time.

Just concentrate on the rhythm of your swing and consistantly striking the ball. If you can hit a ball 150 yards, you can get round a course.

Enjoy, but, don't forget, it's bloody addictive!

Kin size of Tigers traps and shoulders now - giving Bryson a run for his money.

I remember seeing him up close as he walked off the 12th green at the '02 RC at the Belfry and he was a right lanky streak of piss then.

It'll just be a miracle if he manages to get round 72 holes tbh
