Make a donation to Foxestalk

Fair enough chaps, I see where you're all coming from. My original point was that people may donate more if there was more transparency but from BF's example that's obviously not always the case.

By the way I certainly wouldn't begrudge Mark any surplus, he's clearly earnt it.

I agreed with James- If I know FT is in trouble financially then it will persuade me to donate a significant sum. I am going to donate anyway but a bit of more transparency can play a part in the amount of the donation I suppose.

Keep up the good work Mark regardless.

If even a few give a little I would think costs are covered, no-one needs to donate a lot. Just put a little towards your own enjoyment and use of the site. I hope he does make a little extra out of it

Thanks to those who donated over the past few days.

For those interested the new server I upgraded to last July costs £180 a month. The advertising revenue just about covers that although it is up and down, any donations made go towards that.

Ideally the site would be ad free as it was for the first 5 or 6 years but we need a top of the range server these days and that's the only way to finance it.

Thanks Mark, appreciate the update and the info about the server cost. Well done on continuing to provide a first class website.

Mark, what happens if/when you can't be bothered/can't afford/don't want to keep maintaining the site any more? Is there a contingency plan or could it be ran by a FoxesTalk select group of members? It's become a big thing amongst the fans and I could understand that you might get tired of having to run it eventually. Just wondering if you've had any thoughts regarding this matter.

What do others think?

Daggers has promised to sell his body to provide funds to keep the site running and Doc Singh will come round to twist a few FT posters arms to stump up some cash.

Purpleronnie will auction off some of his shoes ( slightly soiled )

Don't worry , there are other contingency plans are in place

If i remember, one time Mark said something along the lines of any money not used up goes towards the next months payment.... But i wonder how we all define the word surplus?

I'd imagine If Mark charged even two quid for every hour he has put into this website then over the years he'd still be out of pocket for a couple of grand...

Mark,

Just an idea... If people knew how much money you got from someone clicking on an advert, then it might encourage them to spend a coupld of minutes clicking away... especially those too young to have their own bank account or paypal account... it might encourage them to make a few more clicks if it gets you up to a quid or two from their clicks...

Also, would it cost you anything to set up that thing where people can donate vy sending a text message to a certain number? again, some people might prefer this method and those without a bank account would still be able to get you a donation...
