Danizen Posted 26 January 2013 Share Posted 26 January 2013 Thrift shop at number 1? No way. It should've been 'I Will Wait' or 'Hey Ho'
MikeyT Posted 27 January 2013 Share Posted 27 January 2013 To say I'm out of touch with a lot of modern music is an understatement. I've only heard of 4 of those songs. Majotiry of artists on that list I've never even heard of. I MUST be getting old.

I'm not really into music of nowadays, apart from the odd song, so I couldn't tell you what any of those songs went like.

Adster Posted 27 January 2013 Share Posted 27 January 2013 Never heard of 95 %of them. Safe to say modern music isn't my thing.
The Doctor Posted 27 January 2013 Share Posted 27 January 2013 All credibility that list could have had was lost when Lana Del Ray and Mumford and Sons made the list.

No, it's Australian music - a lot of their stuff never makes it past the Barrier Reef. They also seem to listen to a lot more stuff that over here would be considered "alternative". Trav Le Bleu Posted 27 January 2013 Share Posted 27 January 2013 I know none of those songs I only know a couple of those bands! Mumford and Sons, Kanye West, Muse, Arctic Monkeys, Florence and the Machine, Calvin Harris, M.I.A should have heard of at least. Jack White, Lana Del Rey, Two Door Cinema Club, Gaslight Anthem, Everything Everything, Black Keys, Frank Ocean, Ben Folds Five, The Temper Trap, Django Django, Skrillex, The XX and Bat For Lashes should be familiar to anyone with more than a passing interest in music. I recognise quite a few others too, but probably about 20-30 I've never heard of there.

I'm not really into music of nowadays, apart from the odd song, so I couldn't tell you what any of those songs went like. I turn 33 in April. I tend to stick to what i know. But I use Lastfm a lot and that gives me recommendations of similar musicians. I mainly like my rock and metal stuff but do like other genres too. Not a fan at all of hip hop/rap or what is classed as modern R&B.

SOCCERROO FOX Posted 29 January 2013 Author Share Posted 29 January 2013 Not the best year, i hate the #1 song. Also don't think any of the 10 songs i voted for made the top 100 which makes it annoying. But saying the i would of seen about 15 of those bands bands live this year. Also any 'Top' list with M*se in it is automatically tainted

Muse does down grade it but when you have 1.5mil votes there is bound to be some flogs with poor music taste. Mystery Jets, Foals, Yesyou, Strange Talk, The Maccabees, Jinja Safari, Art of Sleeping, Jarkarta Criers. Miike Snow, Cast of Cheers, Reptar and Rufus.
