flowwolf Posted 2 March 2013 Posted 2 March 2013 Jesus Christ. It's a strip of advertisement boardings, that's it. It brings in money for the club, puts us on a par with the sort of clubs we aspire towards and brings the KP up-to-date. Personally I can deal with a bit of extra light if it means the increased revenue helps to put the club on a sound financial footing. Also with the frankly incredible work the owners are doing right now, they could use the boards to project Piers Morgan's face around the ground and I wouldn't give two hoots. They are good for the club so yes, get used to it if you want to see the club keep up with our rivals. We will be lucky to even keep up with the playoff spots never mind our rivals. And it's not just a strip of advertising boards they are electronic they flash and they move around right in front of your eyes , they can';t be avoided because they are in your face getting in the way of watching a game of football that I have paid good money to see , not to have fvcking pucker pies flashed at me. Get it ?

Get it ? I'm afraid I don't, no. The fact that people have tried to loosely attach the risk of epilepsy and such-like to them just in order to forge a case is surely proof enough that there's no real point to what you're saying. The issue of brightness is a valid one but if fans all over the world can deal with it, including all of them in the Premier League, then why can't us precious Leicester fans do the same?

chrishlcfc Posted 2 March 2013 Posted 2 March 2013 There are absolutely no grounds for complaint on any health and safety issue. They are completely safe and every Premier League club uses them every week without a fuss. Get used to them. There was against charlton some bloke who looked about 90 using a walking stick tripped over the wire that was attached to the electronic board walking out of the family stand
marbelladave Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 If we ever needed proof that people get more stupid with the passage of each year then this thread is that proof. In what conceivable way do these signs enhance the football experience? Tell me ....... It is just another way to make money at the expense of people who actually want to support their local team and go and watch a game of football, all part of the rubbish modern football experience. Frankly if they appear at the king power on a regular basis then I shall stop going and let the ground fill up with the brain dead individuals who seem to suck up all this crap. You pay your money and take your choice, and I know what my choice is going to be.......
Jimmy Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 If you stop going over advertising boards you are an idiot, should we get promoted you will miss out as they'll be there every week
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 There was against charlton some bloke who looked about 90 using a walking stick tripped over the wire that was attached to the electronic board walking out of the family stand I tripped on the stairs once - let's get rid of all the steps in the stadium too. Oh and I saw someone spill their drink - ban all liquids in the ground. And I definitely saw a ball hit someone in the crowd; shall we stop the use of footballs in the stadium?

You pay your money and take your choice, and I know what my choice is going to be....... Totally agree. Lets put it this way if you paid to go to the cinema to watch a film and all around the screen was a constant barrage of flashing moving advertisments what would you do,( A) walk out and demand your money back as you could not concentrait on the film or ( B) sit back say nothing even though the film is now unwatchable due to the apalling distractions , shrug your shoulders and say " it's all part of the film going experience " ? I too like marbelle dave will part company with the club over this piss taking. The people on here defending this blatent agressive advertising have no backbone and will accept anything and deserve all they get . Modern football ? shove it.
davieG Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 Logic tells us that if they're advertising boards and they obviously are then they are there to get our attention otherwise they are not working and a waste of money. So they need to be 'attractive' to perform their intended function.

So they need to be 'attractive' to perform their intended function. So logic dictates that if they are successful in gaining my attention then I am not able to watch the game of football that I have paid to see. If on the other hand they are no bother and I am able to completly ignore them and not let them spoil my view of the game they are not fit for purpose and therefore not worth the advertisers paying for them. I love logic .

flowwolf Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 I believe that's what I said and it to be true. Indeed you did , and somewhat better than me .
marbelladave Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 If you stop going over advertising boards you are an idiot, should we get promoted you will miss out as they'll be there every week My money, (it costs me £100 per home game) my time, (pretty much the whole matchday) and my choice. The live football experience has been massively degraded in recent years and this may well be the final straw, for me anyway. This is precisely the point...... To be effective the boards have to distract you from the game that you have paid good money to see. To my mind that is indefensible, simple as that......
BrummieFOX Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 If a strip of advertising boards running along the side of the stand, 2-3 metres from the pitch make you 'unable' to watch the game then I'd suggest you've got a bit of a problem. How do ANY of the Premier League Clubs' fans cope?
Raj Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 Is this still going on?? They have toned it down. They are here to stay..Its called INCOME. Aint peeps seen our latest £££ figures? We need cash..If they could have advertsing on the pitch they would. Get over it.

We need cash..If they could have advertsing on the pitch they would. Get over it. Up to you Raj.... To me it is quite simple, Do the boards detract from my enjoyment of the game? For me the answer is a resounding yes. Perhaps no more than another straw on the camels back, but when taken alongside all the other 'straws' (Seating, stewarding, music, chav fans etc, etc) I am getting very close to the point that the live football experience is no longer worth the effort.........
Raj Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 Im afraid this is how modern football is. Its not the case of paying £7 on a saturday, get ther fro 2 and stand and have a laugh, this is the £££££ world of footy. On a personal note this will be my last season as a ST after about 20ysr only cos i've fallen out of love with the whole football shite...Is it really as important to me as it was??? No....seems like we may both be disillusioned but for different reasons...but dont think all the corporate shite is going away...it will only get worse...
whitlock Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 I think there is more pressing issues in the world than electronic advertising boards.

No....seems like we may both be disillusioned but for different reasons...but dont think all the corporate shite is going away...it will only get worse... Never thought otherwise Raj...... I had a period in the late seventies and eighties where I totally gave up football, the hooligan thing, the whole work thing (I was away on tour a lot), simply could not find the time for it. From the late eighties until a few years ago (the League 1 season) I lived mostly overseas, but sincereturning to the UK I have had the time to really follow City, but this season, despite our relatively good form and for no obvious reason, I have not enjoyed it so much..... Strange given that we still have a decent chance of promotion, but thats the way it is. The boards are just on more thing that seems to be getting between me and the team and game that I love, shame.........
marbelladave Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 I think there is more pressing issues in the world than electronic advertising boards. We're not talking about the world FFS...... We're talking about going to the KP to watch and enjoy a game of football, thats all. For me there is too much getting between me and the football, as I said above, that's it, simple.
whitlock Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 13 pages long about advertising boards is quite extensive. The boards have been toned down now, and essentially they are the same as our previous advertising boards, but they move
marbelladave Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 13 pages long about advertising boards is quite extensive. The boards have been toned down now, and essentially they are the same as our previous advertising boards, but they move I find them distracting and an affront to the game, you can, of course please, yourself whether you put up with it or not...... From a practical viewpoint I am sitting in the west stand on Tuesday, maybe that will make a difference...... Night game though, that is when I find them most annoying......

You pay your money and take your choice, and I know what my choice is going to be....... I think it would be beneficial if neither of you went down and watched us play at the KP. You probably sit near me as there are always people moaning about this that and the other. Feel sorry for you, I'd imagine it is your outlook in life to nit pick at everything then fail to enjoy life, then 20 years have passed and you turn into grumpy old men like the above posts. If you don't like it, don't come. Didn't realise you had to or have been forced to come? Stay away IMO as personally we dont need negative people like you at our club
