ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 This guy needs to be back in our XI ASAP imo! He was having a good stint before his injury and Keane has been dominated in 2, possibly 3, games we should of win and haven't Time is running out and things are getting serious, time for the more experienced lads to step up

Didn't win much in the air against Kermorgant, but dealt with him well for the most part. The first goal was a complete ****-up from Drinkwater, the second was an absolute thunderbolt. We were our own worst enemy last night, I don't think the defence was particularly bad.

Don't get me wrong it was a great finish by Haynes last night but I still think it could have been prevented. Between Koncheksy and Keane they should have dealt with him. Perhaps I am wrong, my judgement may be cloudy, due to the anger of such another crap midweek game!

Possibly, we're all frustrated to be fair! To be honest though, I don't think we'd have won if SSL was in the side last night either, because our defending wasn't really the problem - we were undone by a great goal and a complete joke of a backpass which was punished.

Yeah you are right, I don't think we'd have won either. I think it will take a while for SSL to get match fit again and I'm sure we don't want a repeat of his debut v Bristol City (perhaps not debut - you know the one im talking about) all over again, not at this stage of the season. As you say though, it wasn't really our defence....being able to break a team down is key!
Dickov22 Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 Good footballer that he is, one of SSL's weaknesses is winning balls in the air. He wouldn't have done any better than Keane did last night against Kermogant IMO
Fox92 Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 But remember that Kermorgrant is a dominant player in the air. I've seen highlights from Charlton games this season where most defenders have struggled to cope with him. Didn't he even bully Morgan off the ball prior to Charlton's goal at the Valley earlier in the season?
theessexfox Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 I think Whitbread would have been better than Keane last night, not slating the lad, but Whitbread is better in the air.
dannythefox Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 Keane is fine its Konch whats the problem he knows every week he will play if fit nobody is keeping him on his toes. Schulpp would of won them headers last night hes alot stronger than konch, hes looked really ropey for a while now.
Loggy98 Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 I think Sean is a great player but hard to put him back in with Morgan and keane doing well, apart from they gave too much room for Haynes to score
Loggy98 Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 True but you defend from the front, the whole team is responsible

This, sh*t happens!
Johnny Cash Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 I think Whitbread would have been better than Keane last night, not slating the lad, but Whitbread is better in the air. Get out!
theessexfox Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 Get out! Is he not better in the air than Keane?
Phil Bertstreet Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 I think Whitbread would have been better than Keane last night, not slating the lad, but Whitbread is better in the air. Agree 100%.
theessexfox Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 after a clean sheet ? oh my days ! This topic was made after Chalrton! Oh my days!
iamafox Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 We've won every game this season whenever St Ledger and Morgan have played, maybe we would still be top of the league had St Ledger not got injured.
sdb Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 SSL seems to spend the vast majority of his time at gigs and bars at the moment. Interested to see what shape and form he's in upon return.
