acooling08 Posted 21 February 2013 Posted 21 February 2013 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21538273 Hull City have signed Peterborough midfielder George Boyd on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent deal. The 27-year-old almost joined Nottingham Forest in January only for the deal to fall through after he failed an eye test. Boyd told BBC Radio Humberside: "This is a fantastic opportunity for me. "It is everyone's dream to play in the Premier League and I think I can do that here." He added: "I got the call on Wednesday and I have to thank the Peterborough chairman because he didn't want me to go but in the end he gave his consent. "They play football the right way here and they have a great chance of going up." Boyd made 297 appearances and scored 75 goals for Posh after joining from Stevenage in January 2007. He could make his Tigers debut in Saturday's trip to Bolton.
Harry - LCFC Posted 21 February 2013 Posted 21 February 2013 I know there's a lot of hype about him but I've never seen him play well. I haven't seen any real potential either. This signing doesn't really worry me. They've got several players who are better than him.
AKCJ Posted 21 February 2013 Posted 21 February 2013 Improves their squad but not really their first 11. I think Koren and Quinn are much better.
EastNeukFox Posted 21 February 2013 Posted 21 February 2013 .........he failed an eye test..... Didnt see that one coming Not you as well....?
Fox92 Posted 22 February 2013 Posted 22 February 2013 Always rated him, decent Championship player, technically gifted. Looked good on Tuesday night against Millwall. Flatmate supports Hull and he's happy (likes rubbing stuff in now they are second )
ruisliptiger Posted 22 February 2013 Posted 22 February 2013 To a man their(Peterborough's) Manager, back-room staff, chairman and fans are all gutted he's leaving. Sounds like a solid professional with no tendencies towards histrionics. He can also play on both wings, advanced midfield or second striker. Creates plenty of goals and scores as well, plus at 27 he's in his pomp. Can be a direct replacement for Elmohammady, Koren, Brady or Aluko. Considering Aluko is currently injured that just as well. Koren isn't getting any younger either.Even so, should he not make the first 11 you could ask for a more perfect sub. We now have Fathi who can play anywhere across the back plus defensive midfield. With Boyd who looks after most of the attacking positions. Many of the concerns I had before January about our strength in depth have been firmly put to rest by the player Bruce has brought in. Were going to have a jolly good crack at this Automatic Promotion malarkey. You're not going to go all Neil Danns on us are you Harry, ALCJ, Maybes?
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 22 February 2013 Posted 22 February 2013 Sort of player that will look better in a better side.
Super_horns Posted 22 February 2013 Posted 22 February 2013 TBF Hull have got a good deal. Palace will be a bit gutted because weren't they expecting to get Boyd?
AyewJoking Posted 22 February 2013 Posted 22 February 2013 Dont rate him much anyway however he does have an eye for goal.
Jaspa Posted 22 February 2013 Posted 22 February 2013 Dont rate him much anyway however he does have an eye for goal. Shame about that second Hull have picked up some v.decent players of late, Brady, the Egyptian lads and now Boyd
AyewJoking Posted 22 February 2013 Posted 22 February 2013 Lets face it. You dont want to be able to see properly if youre living in Hull.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 22 February 2013 Posted 22 February 2013 Hes no better than what we have honestly
Langston Posted 22 February 2013 Posted 22 February 2013 Always rated him, decent Championship player, technically gifted. Looked good on Tuesday night against Millwall. Flatmate supports Hull and he's happy (likes rubbing stuff in now they are second ) Give the **** a slap then you wet bugger.
Guest Col city fan Posted 23 February 2013 Posted 23 February 2013 Excellent signing for Dull. I wanted Boyd here at the start of the season.
Finnegan Posted 23 February 2013 Posted 23 February 2013 Excellent signing for Dull. I wanted Boyd here at the start of the season. Just in case anyone still wasn't convinced Boyd is ****ing terrible.
Tielemans63 Posted 23 February 2013 Posted 23 February 2013 A mate at work is a big posh fan and from what he says I think he's Peterborough's version of Andy King - someone who gets a decent number of goals but who can be anonymous for long periods yet somehow fans of other sides seem to think he's better than he really is.
Fox92 Posted 23 February 2013 Posted 23 February 2013 Give the **** a slap then you wet bugger. No, he's a good lad. Have a lot of banter with him, especially with Nigel Pearson being our manager again.
