soulsister Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 if sky choose a match to be moved clubs/football league have no say in the matter and your proof of this fact is where ?????
promised land Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 The most important factor with this decision is....What about the Birch run?? It will still happen, it did last season and I'm certain that game was shifted for Sky.
Fox42 Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 It will still happen, it did last season and I'm certain that game was shifted for Sky. It was and it did. I remember seeing Marshall as well in the background wearing a white shore running around the pitch whilst Beagrie was waffling about our expenditure that season.
Dan Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 I genuinely would party if $ky went bust. I fvcking am well and truly sick of this, how can this be allowed to happen?
ozleicester Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 Can appreciate, and feel for ST holders, quite simply the club should take the extra tv income and take it directly off the cost of next years ST for all of this years ST holders. On a purely selfish side... WOOOHOOOOOOO another game on telly...and a Friday night ( = saturday morning here) is almost puuurrrfect. COYB Edit - if the suggested $80,000 income from each sky game is correct, then... $80,000 x 7 games = $560,000 $560,000 divided by 13,000 ST holders = $43 reduction on ST cost for 2014?
Dan Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 I've just realised how this places can erupt over anything. Game moved. It's on sky. Get over it. And this, everyone, is exactly why this shit goes on. Get over it my arse. This is football diminishing and it's indefensible. I could 'get over it' if it was the odd game moved, but I'm sorry, this is absolutely appalling and everything football shouldn't be. If I could turn the clock back 5 years I'd seriously wonder if I'd bothered getting so into football because it's frankly becoming a joke. It isn't about the normal fan anymore, and will I get over that? Will I fvck, it's plain wrong.
iancognito Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 If it's a genuine pain in the arse to get to and from games - I know people in places like Lincoln that used to have STs that would be livid about it - then I can understand that. But if it's just a case of it not being 3pm on a Saturday then I can't really go with the rage on this. Saturday 3pm is just a traditional time - pre-tv - that most games were scheduled for, to allow your average Mon-Fri working class man to go to games. These days, it's a 24/7 world, people work different hours, different days and personally I work every Saturday, like a lot of other people. Any games that get shifted to Sunday/Friday/midweek are a lifesaver because I can actually go to games. Controversial as it sounds, I'd be quite happy for the fixture list to shift to Sundays like a few other European leagues do. Far more people have Sunday off work than Saturdays and the attendances would probably get a lift if more people were able to go.
J.Lisemore Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 Cheers LCFC + SKY for making my head clearer, good to know that if we're still in the Championship next season, I won't be getting a season ticket.
Weller in Tights Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 Two words DOOR MAT. They will walk all over the likes of you because your spineless. ? Who the Feck are you Flowwolf to call someone spineless? Time you gave in really, your often obnoxious on here and you appear to think being insulting is in some way hilarious. The 'Jack Dee' style humour is long dead, get a new name and try to re-invent yourself, you may then learn to enjoy life,.

I would say £560,000 / (Avg Season TIcket of £450) = Over 1,200 STH the club would have to lose before giving a shit
Dan Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 The club are in a serious mess as far as renewals go IMO. If we don't go up they're gonna lose a silly number of renewals unless they lower the prices, and I'm not sure they'd do that. To be honest though it's all they deserve.
Babylon Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 and your proof of this fact is where ????? In the statement the club released and the contract they all signed.
Jfox Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 Cheers LCFC + SKY for making my head clearer, good to know that if we're still in the Championship next season, I won't be getting a season ticket. So you wont get a season ticket because we might have to play a few friday night games if we stay in the champpionship, but you will get one if we go up, when we could and will be moved to Sunday and Monday nights? Personally I'd prefer Firday night games to Sunday and Monday
5waller5 Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 And this, everyone, is exactly why this shit goes on. Get over it my arse. This is football diminishing and it's indefensible. It isn't about the normal fan anymore, and will I get over that? Will I fvck, it's plain wrong. The game of football is a joke because it's not at 3pm on a saturday all the time?? Jeez ..... lighten up .... It's entertainment and it's following the market for entertainment - Ie, at times when it can be televised. Personally I'm not a creature of habit so i don't have to have a hissy fit because the time of a kick off is moved .... don't get why it's such a big deal.
5waller5 Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 My only worry with ST renewals is that the issue of time and price cloud the real reason they'll fall ..... But i can't be arsed with the tirade of NP loving so won't go there. In the statement the club released and the contract they all signed. Apart from that??
Babylon Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 But i can't be arsed with the tirade of NP loving so won't go there. More like you can't back up a point that is utter crud. As pointed out the other day to you, NP had bigger crowds last time he was here than Sven ever did after spending £30m. Lets not make drops down to be about anything other than the real reason, price. A few nobodies not wanting to go because we have a manager in charge that has actually managed to improve our league standing every season he has been here are a drop in the ocean.

As I'd already pointed out - your stats were completely wrong. This season against Sven's season showed a 10% drop in attendances. But you choose to look at NP's Last tenure not this for some reason????
Danno Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 Don't know why people are moaning really, the club can't do anything about it.
Babylon Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 As I'd already pointed out - your stats were completely wrong. This season against Sven's season showed a 10% drop in attendances. But you choose to look at NP's Last tenure not this for some reason???? And why would you not compare Svens to Pearsons previous one? You are stating that the decline is solely down to Pearson, the fact he had better attendances previously disproves that as he has been able to pull in good attendances before. You then stated that the difference was caused by an increase in prices... well my Season ticket increased in price this year, have you not thought that again the drop is down to price? I appreciate you do not like Pearson, but this constant grasping at stuff to slam him with does you no favours at all.
1964FOX Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 Don't know why people are moaning really, the club can't do anything about it. Not this season but they could go to the football league either alone or with other clubs and ask for a limit to be put on home games at 3pm being moved. It's a contract they have with Sky and contracts can be varied. I accept it would take several clubs to moan to achieve anything but I'm sure it could be done.
Alf Bentley Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 Don't know why people are moaning really, the club can't do anything about it. I thought that at least some people were saying that, although the club was contractually obliged (via the Football League) to accept at least 1 match per season being moved for television, it then had the option to accept/refuse offers for any further matches to be moved and televised.... I've no idea whether or not that's true. Does anyone have any reliable info? It does seem strange that we've been televised quite so often this season - it's not as if we're Man Utd or someone with major national appeal. Anyone have any stats as to how we compare with other Championship clubs when it comes to having matches moved for TV? Seems to me there would be very few Championship clubs that have been televised so often... Of course, from a commercial perspective, there are good reasons why our owners might be only too willing to agree to kick-off changes for TV (and I'm not talking about the alleged £80,000 payment, though I'm sure that helps): their commercial motive in buying the club seems to be to use it as a vehicle to promote the King Power corporation....I'm sure they'd be only too delighted to have every single match moved, if it meant that they'd hear the TV announcer saying "Now it's over to the KING POWER stadium..." followed by 90 minutes of footballers running around in shirts emblazoned with "KING POWER".... I'm sure they could bear the moral torment they'd feel about a few hundred/thousand football fans being prevented from seeing "their" team! Not that I'm not furious, mind you. I'm lucky in that I can still make Friday evening matches, but I'd planned to attend the Watford match with a mate and our respective daughters (primary school age). My daughter was really looking forward to it, as was I. Now, it looks like I'll be going on my own, as usual. Maybe, I should get my daughter interested in cricket instead, seeing as the club apparently isn't bothered about nurturing the interest of the fans of the future....understandably, as LCFC is only useful to them while it is promoting the King Power brand on TV!
Babylon Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 I thought that at least some people were saying that, although the club was contractually obliged (via the Football League) to accept at least 1 match per season being moved for television, it then had the option to accept/refuse offers for any further matches to be moved and televised.... I've no idea whether or not that's true. Does anyone have any reliable info? The club statement about the Watford game said the only people who can stop a game being moved is the Safety Advisory Group. http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/120313-friday-switch-for-watford-clash-709656.aspx
1964FOX Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 Surely the fact that for most of the season we have been clear promotion contenders who have scored freely plus the Leicester tradition to have extreme dodgy ref decisions, all of which makes great telly for neutrals is the reason Sky love us and let's not forget most important e are the one and only Leicester City. I suppose we only have ourselves to blame for being such a great club.
Alf Bentley Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 The club statement about the Watford game said the only people who can stop a game being moved is the Safety Advisory Group. http://www.lcfc.com/...ash-709656.aspx I remember the "Safety Advisory Group" being wheeled out as the reason why we only got a limited number of tickets for the Norwich FA Cup match last season....maybe I'm being unduly cynical, but it seems like a convenient equivalent of "computer says no!" or "more than my job's worth, mate!" Perhaps we should threaten a riot if a match is moved, so that the Safety Advisory Group insists that it is not moved! The relevant section of the club statement reads: "If a Leicester City fixture is selected for live coverage, the Club is obliged to play the game at the rescheduled time unless the Safety Advisory Group determines that there are justifiable safety reasons for objection". Does "a Leicester City fixture" really mean "any and every fixture", or could that be weasel words for the "1 match only" commitment that some have referred to? I'm sorry, but I don't trust anyone with an axe to grind, including LCFC. If they really are contractually obliged to move any match on demand, let's hope there isn't a big upsurge of interest in football in the USA - we could presumably end up playing all our matches at 2am to suit an American TV audience. As for the club's offer of extra free tickets to the Friday matches for season-ticket holders, that suits me quite nicely, because I'll be able to attend anyway....not sure what it does to help people who are unable to attend the last 4 matches of the season!! ....and why, in God's name, do Sky think that the whole nation wants to watch Leicester's last 4 home matches on live TV?!
Leicesterpool Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 I'm not happy its a friday but we should still lure a big crowd because it's the last game of the season plus a promotion push fixture, going into the final fixtures I think we'll probably get over 21,000 expect for the Millwall game. Sky must like travelling to Leicester!
