NottsFox Posted 17 March 2013 Posted 17 March 2013 Sorry if the 'booing' topic is somewhere else but I couldn't find it and wanted to say this. Admittedly, along with many other people from what I could hear at the game at Derby yesterday and when I watched some of the recording at home, I booed. Indeed I booed at both half time and full time. Now, when I booed, a man on the row behind me shouted "Where is booing going to get you? Stop booing them!" in a very angry voice, probably indirectly at myself among the others. I agree that booing is not really helping and "we are in it together" but after what I saw yesterday, as well has having paid £32 ******* for the experience, I felt well entitled to boo at a team that, especially in the first half, lacked any sort of desire or real passion against a local team. I have tried to love players and treat them as my idols, but after yesterday I realised how fed up I was with watching players come in and put in little-no effort when each year thousands and thousands of us spend a lot of our money to support them. I will continue to travel to games, renew my season ticket and support the team, I don't boo at the odd defeat, but the last 9 games forced me to the point where yesterday I just couldn't keep it in any longer. PS: Don't sack Nige. Although can someone explain what "working hard" means in his dictionary and how that will work? Especially when one of our 'Internationals" (Sean St Ledger) can't even take a throw-in? Will Sean spend the remaing training sessions this season practicing that, or the more likely event of running it and out of poles on the training ground, driving his flash car and collecting his wages. I do however understand people's frustration when it looks like the team aren't putting in enough effort, that is the minimum they should be giving. I just don't really see what it achieves by booing to be honest. You seem like a balanced fan though and not one of those fans that is on the players back from the first minute so fair play to you

Frustrated or not it's only going to tell the owners one thing and if that's not even what you want then you're shooting yourself in the foot. Personally it's not so much that it doesn't help that bothers me, but I think it actively hinders a lot of the time and that's a problem. I know many will disagree, but I just think that the negative atmosphere it plays a part in creating very rarely causes a response from a football team and when you're being booed off as a player at a club that's achieving what most fans wanted at the start of the season, that's not going to get players to warm to a club and want to turn things around, even if they aren't doing well enough.

Whilst I agree with you and never boo at games the bit where you said you think it negatively impacts the players is the bit that concerns me. It suggests the players are mentally weak and unable to handle pressure. I think a good team is one that could get booed off at half time and come out and fight in the second half and turn games around

They should be concerned about results and whether they truly believe NFP can lead this team to promotion, imo he cannot do this because of his past record at this level and the style of play he adopts.

I would say the players would know that kind of display isn't acceptable, but their body language suggested they don't. I'm not saying Pearson can't take it, I just think there's a chance of it influencing the owners to make a decision that isn't necessarily sensible. Our fans boo all the while, if they sacked a manager because of booing we'd have a new manager every couple of months

cc_star Posted 17 March 2013 Posted 17 March 2013 Booing at half & fulltime is perfectly reasonable IMO. Booing prior to a game, or whilst players are warming up or whatever isn't. Personal abuse of players is out of order and extremely counter-productive, however I almost made an exception to that way of thinking for HOOFsky & SSL yesterday.

We were a poor club with our backs to the walls, a decade of underachievement and unfulfilled promises from Milan first and now KP have tainted our home support. Being under the employ of LCFC is now an utterly thankless task.

ian1984summer Posted 17 March 2013 Posted 17 March 2013 just a quick question, on what basis are you stating that SSL can't take a throwing? is it based on the 1 foul throw or the 100's of perfectly fine throws? i work in production for an engineering company and last week made 142 monoblocks for transformers, 139 passed electrical testing and 3 failed. does this suggest i am incapable of producing monoblocks?

I admit the St Ledger argument is a bit pathetic! But to be honest, for a PROFESSIONAL footballer, even one foul throw-in for a player on ££££££ a week is unacceptable to me. It just begs that question I ask, what DO they do all week? It's a bit like that question of how come players, often, don't get a cross past the first man? Unacceptable when it is their job. But yeah, the St Ledger argument is poor but I meant it in a general way, for example, they practice shooting but smash it over all game long, I'm sure if you had a record on one in 20 monoblocks passing the test then you would be in trouble. See what I mean?

It must hurt just as much to see your supporters streaming out of the ground. If they cant take the reactions of the fans then they in the wrong job.

When a player is in earshot and can hear, 'YOU'RE FVCKING SHIT', how will that help their already dwindling confidence? Please dont answer that with, 'if I got paid what they do, you can call me a c*nt all day long'. Basically one of the most stupid arguments out there. Liam Moore tweeted today the question of why you'd abuse a player from the team you support? This to me shows the players talk about it and are affected by it. It is becoming more and more difficult to support them unconditionally. We need to see something and wuick.
