paddy Agyemang Posted 10 May 2013 Posted 10 May 2013 Probably agree but if he gets torn up by Anya then bring Schlupp on
Callabinho Posted 10 May 2013 Posted 10 May 2013 Not sure, Schlupp handled Anya very well last night, a few scares with lack of defensive knowledge, but on the whole he did well! Keep him in!
Guest Col city fan Posted 10 May 2013 Posted 10 May 2013 I think I'd keep Schlupp actually. He looked ridiculously nervy at times but I still like his ability to get forward. He poses an attacking threat, alongside Lloyd, that Konchesky doesn't. I also agree with Callabinho. Anja is a tricky, dangerous little player. I think Schlupp handled him well (apart from the one obvious mare) because he's as quick as Anja.
indierich06 Posted 10 May 2013 Posted 10 May 2013 Not sure, Schlupp handled Anya very well last night, a few scares with lack of defensive knowledge, but on the whole he did well! Keep him in! I thought Schlupp had an asbolute mare last night, so defensively naive and made at least two slip ups which could have lead to Watford goals. He's just not a defensive player really.
Babylon Posted 10 May 2013 Posted 10 May 2013 Be honest, if Konch made the errors Schlupp did last night people would be calling for Schlupp to play ahead of him.
muzzyisalegend Posted 10 May 2013 Posted 10 May 2013 Jeff's first mistake made him incredibly edgy, but whatever Nige said to him at half time seemed to settle him, I say keep him in, Konch has been dreadful this season.
Guest NGoloMode Posted 10 May 2013 Posted 10 May 2013 You can bet Zola will target Schlupp if he plays on Sunday.. I'd have Konch over Schlupp anyway but especially on Sunday.
Fox92 Posted 10 May 2013 Posted 10 May 2013 I'd stick with Schlupp. He made that dodgy backpass, but overall, did match Anya imo. Wasn't beaten for pace and was just as strong.
leicesterlad1989 Posted 10 May 2013 Posted 10 May 2013 I think De Laet, Konchesky and Schlupp are all poor at times defensively and all make mistakes but with De Laet and Schlupp they have pace and strength to recover, which sadly Konchesky doesn't have. I used to think Konchesky was mr constitant (last season) but this season his legs seem to have gone. Would not be surprised to see him back though..
foxer Posted 10 May 2013 Posted 10 May 2013 Almost every time Konch has been given the ball this season by one of our own players my heart has been in my mouth. He's an absolute liability. He should bring stability with his experience etc but he simply doesn't anymore. He's not even half the player he used to be or even half the player he was last season. Shame. Keep young Jeff at left back is my vote although if Konch wasn't as dodgy as he is I'd chuck Jeff on upfront for a half to hopefully offer more than Wood and Nuge (goal apart) did last night.
cc_star Posted 10 May 2013 Posted 10 May 2013 there was a miskick which can happen to anyone There was 2 instances of really bad positioning that could have cost us dreadfully. If Konch did that I'd be forming a lynch mob At both end of the pitch Schlupp has showed us just how much more development he still has to do... Up front against Watford a fortnight ago he was like a rabbit in the headlights and was rightfully subbed. and at the back last night his inexperience could have been disastrous, both in conceding chances or even a second yellow The problem is Anja will eat Konchesky for breakfast - He will be skinned time & time again. Whoever we play there is a going to be a problem for us & they will especially target that flank, but through being as fast as Anja Schlupp also offers us the solution. Not to mention the problems he caused at the other end & how well he plays with Dyer where if Wood was gambling in the 6 yard box rather than being wherever he was... we could have scored on a couple of occasions. On balance, I'd say Schlupp

Nuge was the frontline of our defence... He took one for the team (as usual) playing out of his position for the good of everyone else. Exceptional performance even without the matchwinner
phillo Posted 10 May 2013 Posted 10 May 2013 His mistake nearly cost us a goal we might not be so lucky next time
foxer Posted 10 May 2013 Posted 10 May 2013 Nuge was the frontline of our defence... He took one for the team (as usual) playing out of his position for the good of everyone else. Exceptional performance even without the matchwinner Fair enough but he offered very little up front probably due to the fact he was back defending where as Jeff is pretty good at holding the ball up, making a pass and stretching defences a bit which is something we didn't do last night.
Walshy5 Posted 11 May 2013 Posted 11 May 2013 Id rather play a 1 armed chimp called daisy than konchesky!
glenelgfox Posted 11 May 2013 Posted 11 May 2013 Konchesky reads the play well but gets caught with pace at time and seems like he takes an eternity to make basic clearances and then when rushed because of his failure to use his first option or instinct and then he turns it over time after time.
deejdeej Posted 11 May 2013 Posted 11 May 2013 Watford will be breaking at pace tomorrow, more so than thursday. If konch is still attacking when we lose the ball Anya will destroy us, at least Schlupp will have a chance of catching him. Big Jeff for me.
Oxshottfox Posted 11 May 2013 Posted 11 May 2013 Is this post by Zola trying ruin our game plan? Play an old and slow defender against one of the fastest counter attacking teams in the league? Are you mad?
sphericalfox Posted 11 May 2013 Posted 11 May 2013 the errors that Schlupp made onThursday, were ectified on numerous occasions when he matched the attack in pace. The problem with Konch when he's dealing with pace is he fouls that player probably 3 out of 4 times. We cannot afford to risk him being sent off tomorrow against an out and out attacking side or drag Wes/Keane out of position to deal with this. Wes got sent off for this scenario because Konch was up the pitch and couldn't get back in time. Schlupp mau be nervous and inexperienced, but I'd take that risk, but at least leave us with pace on the pitch.
fleckneymike Posted 11 May 2013 Posted 11 May 2013 Anyone who saw Watford play us in the league at home will know why Konchesky cannot come back in.
Fox92 Posted 11 May 2013 Posted 11 May 2013 Anyone who saw Watford play us in the league at home will know why Konchesky cannot come back in. Exactly this. I said on page one, I'd stick with Schlupp... He did make a dodgy pass and two dodgy clearences, however, he matched Anya for pace and strength. In the league game, Anya totally dominated Konchesky and was probably Watford's best player. Also, with Schlupp in, our left side is better going forward, and Dyer often steps in for Schlupp. Schlupp just needs an arm around him sometimes, and to calm down, and Morgan will do that (or needs too).
sdb Posted 11 May 2013 Posted 11 May 2013 Really tough call. Schlupp a better player now imo. Konch more experienced. Shlupp better with Dyer, and going forward, but Watford will target him after Thurs night. I'm not sure.
