indierich06 Posted 22 May 2013 Posted 22 May 2013 Stoke haven't finished top half since they were promoted. No-one fears them anymore. Completely and utterly found out. When your most lethal attacking option is a throw in, what does that say about the rest of your team? I'd hate us to be like them.
seenitall Posted 22 May 2013 Posted 22 May 2013 You never go to games then Explains alot. Explains nothing - I get to games when I can (usually midweek ones) and watch what I can on streams and Sky - guess I'm not allowed to be a City supporter unless I hold a season ticket and do away games too? How many fans have we got then - maybe 1,000? In seeing approximatey 15 games a season (more last year with the Thai stations showing home games) I am possibly not as well informed about the intricacies of each individual game as the great followers on here but I am not sure my opinion as a supporter is less valid than yours Oh great one. So back to my point - I'd love to see us back in the Premier League so that I can see every game and then I can be as brilliant a fan as you obviously are

Your entitiled to your opinion, the fact that you see less than 1/3 of our games just explains why it's utter drivel that's all.

ManorFox Posted 22 May 2013 Posted 22 May 2013 Stoke are going after a different football culture at their place. They asked TP to change his style and it had them dangling close to the drop zone in the latter stages. He will be the last of the 'older school' to succeed at the top level, but if anyone criticizes what he achieved, and they were tangible achievements in a FA Cup Final appearance, progression in the UEFA Cup, promotion and top flight stability, then the game is dead. I admire the fact he had a style that got under the skin of the trumped up self important media in the country who were to ignorant to understand what he was trying to do. I don't like his style of play but he can walk away head held high knowing he was successful.

Link me, please. No, you didn't do that, you have consistently supported the underachieving oaf to your credit. Of course it could be seen as failing in the play offs at the fourth attempt in as many years trying to get out of the division, but with your attendance all the games we play, you would know more about our league position than those who look at it in the paper.......

Brian Little failed twice in the play offs should we have sacked him at the time? Perhaps you could say who you would like as manager? seriously I'd like to know who you think would be the right person, not sitting on the fence just a name.

Brian Little restored pride to this club after the awful Pleat years.

Jesus keep up - I must have listed viable alternatives about ten times on here. Brian Little made it to Wembley each time he was in the play offs - should we have kept him? Of course, the team against Blackburn was robbed in the final as indeed was the team against Swindon. Also, Little achieved Wembley in his first season and with little investment. He also got us promoted and bought some quality players - in what way can he be compared to Nigel Pearson in any way at all (grey hair maybe??) We have missed out on so many quality managers by keeping Nige the list changes daily. Right now get Pulis in and I'll settle for four years in the Prem

With our current squad we couldn't play the way he would want to. We would need to sign at least 6 or 7 players. I'm not sure Pulis still has it. Stoke were starting to look pretty bad to be honest but if he's your choice then fine. Personally I'd need to relocate towards the back of the stand to have much chance of seeing the ball. It will be interesting to see how Stoke fare next season.
seenitall Posted 22 May 2013 Posted 22 May 2013 it just gets better, like he will guarantee us getting out of this league. And you can't compare Little to Pearson times has changed. I didn't - just responded. How exactly have times changed? Little had us playing with grit and determination which I think we would take right now - the league is still tough to get out of and requires exactly a character like Nigel Pearson to get out of it. It is he who has failed so many times, on paper he is the right man, but ability wise he is not.

seenitall Posted 22 May 2013 Posted 22 May 2013 The quality was in Div 2 - agree he struggled in the Prem but believe he wrote a list with ten players on it and got one, Draper (who was quality)
Guy Posted 22 May 2013 Posted 22 May 2013 The quality was in Div 2 - agree he struggled in the Prem but believe he wrote a list with ten players on it and got one, Draper (who was quality) Definitely was the case with Little, Mark Draper was the only 'quality' player he managed to attract to Filbert Street, pre our first 'Premiership' season in 1994. We needed about five similar additions as he but no more followed sadly, while we had second rate additions like Nicky Mohan to rely on instead, although subsequent signings made by successor Mark McGhee such as Garry Parker and Mark Robins would prove to be welcome additions in the longer term scheme of things of course! Meanwhile McGhee had "inherited" a side, after Little had defected to Villa that wasn't able to play the stylish, passing football that he so desired in time and which may've prevented us from relegation that season at a squeeze had he had more quality players at his disposal in that side. Still, it all lead to the Messiah coming along in the end, O'Neill and the rest, as they say is history!
Babylon Posted 22 May 2013 Posted 22 May 2013 No comparison Reynard. Brian Little restored pride to this club after the awful Pleat years. And Pearson didn't restore pride after relegation... something that never even happened during the Pleat shite.
seenitall Posted 22 May 2013 Posted 22 May 2013 Agree that he did - he's kicked the arse out of it now though - this will be season 5 coming up since his only achievement
MC Prussian Posted 22 May 2013 Posted 22 May 2013 Agree that he did - he's kicked the arse out of it now though - this will be season 5 coming up since his only achievement Minus 1 1/2 of which he's not responsible for or had any immediate impact.
l444ry Posted 22 May 2013 Posted 22 May 2013 And Pearson didn't restore pride after relegation... something that never even happened during the Pleat shite. Sorry Babylon. Brian Little was/is a far better manager than Pearson. That's my view so you'll just have to put up with it!
Babylon Posted 22 May 2013 Posted 22 May 2013 Agree that he did - he's kicked the arse out of it now though - this will be season 5 coming up since his only achievement Not with us it's not, if you don't think reaching the playoffs after promotion was an achievement then you won't be particularly glowing of Poyet and several others I presume? Since his last decent achievement he's been here part of a season and a full season.... not two, not three, not four. Sorry Babylon. Brian Little was/is a far better manager than Pearson. That's my view so you'll just have to put up with it! At the moment he is I agree, but that was not your point. You said he restored pride, well so did Pearson.
