I don't like option 3.

I happen to work in Highways for the County Council.

If we were split into a North and South, every function we perform (and many others, such as social care) would be split into two. It'd be really complicated and create a lot of duplication. It'd basically do the exact opposite of the intention of Local Government Reorganisation.

I'm sure this is a valid opinion, that most importantly rules out option 1?

Option 1 would also be problematic but has some merit. I do appreciate the City's argument for expanding the existing boundaries but not as far as they are suggesting. It's preferable to Option 3 for me which makes the least sense.

Option 2 makes the most sense to me (although I suppose I'm bound to say that). I do get the feeling the City will get what they want though.

Option 1 is the worst and will be the accepted one. It's probably the one with the lowest public support.

Leicester city centre is not safe.

Don't go anywhere near it.

Why has it gone downhill?

Heard a few people say this in recent times.

It's a common change in UK cities. People have increasingly shifted to buying things on line or at large supermarkets. Now, in many cities there is a decent indoor shopping centre together with a small area of independent shops but the rest is fast food places etc.

Leicester is one example. Others are Derby, Luton and Leeds.

I'd gladly walk around it with my infant daughter.

You'd have to be an absolute fanny to be scared walking around Leicester City centre.

Like most city centre’s you’ll have your rougher parts that you can just avoid, but to describe it as third world is absolutely laughable and pathetic. SAD

I moved out of Leicester to London when I was 20 so about 32 years ago now. I try to pop up to watch the odd game with my brother and catch up with school mates 2/3 times a year.

I am no expert but to me the place has changed a bit, but you can say most Towns and Citys up and down the country have deteriorated beyond recognition. I have never known so much mental health related issues in people down here in Hertfordshire and over the years in my job I have seen many places go down the absolute pan. I dont get the feeling that Leicester has gone "that bad" when comparing to London, Luton, Bournemouth which are three locations I used to go to for work that have completely changed or the worse.

In my experience albeit limited these days, Leicester wouldnt be anywhere near as bad as some shithouses around this country.

Not sure Leeds deserves to be mentioned amongst the other 3.

Leeds is the best of those cities. I was there last year and it´s the lack of greenery that made it a concrete jungle (like Birmingham). The indoor shopping centre, arcades and corn exchange are fine but the rest is a bit depressing.

The nicest big cities in the UK are London, Cardiff and Edinburgh (Bristol has some good parts too). In general, the smaller British cities are more pleasant: Cambridge, Oxford, Chester, Bath, Lincoln, Durham etc.

Finally a right winger apologising for the unprecedented increase in immigration that happened under the Conservatives! Kudos to you.

With added Oversimplified Cause Fallacy for good effect too.

We've got more logical fallacies than City red cards going on right now, it would appear.
