Yeah, nice food festival, decent car show every year. The amount of detritus left behind after the food festival was sad to see. Loads of extra bins but still people just drop their waste where they stand

 

Don't get me started on the amount of dog sh1t left on the pavements near me. 

 

And Burbage common. It's a minefield of poop. I don't walk my dog there anymore.

The other thing that has seemingly disappeared especially on beaches, parks and open spaces no one takes their rubbish home which is weird considering the vast majority probably come with carrier bags and turn up in cars so it would be no big deal to just chuck it in the bag and take it home with them to put in their own bin.

Laziness, mainly. There really is no excuse for any of this.

 

I was in a McDonalds car park some time back and a big 4x4 driven by quite young individuals who just threw their waste out of the window onto the floor. 

 

They were all girls, all overly made up, huge eyelashes, deep fake tan, trout pout lips... you know where I'm going with this...

 

I challenged them. I was given a load of abuse in a certain accent.

Bournemouth near the pier is absolutely awful for this. London day-trippers mainly. I've seen dirty nappies just left in the sand.

Unforgivable loutish behaviour.  Also that people travel to beautiful places presumably to enjoy then trash the place. The lack of decency is staggering.

Not being from Leicester, I wouldn't say Leicester is dump. In fact I rate as one of top ten in the UK, maybe biased. I feel it's city that has adapted to the times well rather than the other city on other end of M69 which is too stuck in the 1970s.

It's equally sad but also very disappointing.

 

Great weather and beaches etc shouldn't be taken for granted in life.

 

There are many volunteers who have to regularly face cleaning up others' mess in such places to do their bit for the environment.

 

Am a big supporter of supporting the idea of punishing those who negative affect the environment by making them do community service via the way of cleaning rubbish up etc.

It's always awful - I live near it and walk the route regularly. There are families taking their kids to and from school that way, too. Absolutely hideous.

Yep, never pleasant, but today is the worst I’ve seen it. The mattress was further down Raymond Road squeezed into a doorway, that must have took some navigating  🤦‍♂️

I passed one of those charity clothes donation 'bins' the other day, which obviously hadn't been emptied in a while as there were several bags of clothes on the pavement around it.

A Muslim woman was opening all the bags, rummaging through the clothes and putting to one side items which she obviously fancied. She hung them on top of an adjacent fence.

It was like she was checking what to buy in the sales or something.

Anyway, I passed by the next day and noticed the bags had been left open and even a couple of items she must has changed her mind about, we're still draped over the fence.

It's like the 3rd world around Leicester sometimes.

Calls for "vital" clean up action have been made by residents across Leicester regarding the "pitiful" state of the River Soar.

Clean River Action (CRA) launched a public letter voicing their concerns regarding the state of the River Soar, on Monday, September 7 and within days, more than 600 people have signed the document.

According to the environmental campaign group, residents now view the River Soar as "unsafe, polluted, and poorly protected."

 

'Message is clear' say opponents in bid to block major Leicester boundary change

 

Across hundreds of submissions to CRA, people independently reported the same issues of sewage debris, sanitary waste, foul smells, dead fish, overgrown pennywort, and visible pollution after rainfall.

One resident wrote: "After a bit of rain the river smells and you can see wet wipes, panty liners and all sorts of rubbish in the branches."

Another said: "I used to paddleboard on this river but I can no longer access the water for fear of how filthy it is."

Wildlife impacts are also a major concern, as many reported dead fish and threats to kingfishers, otters, amphibians, and other species that rely on clean water.
