They'll go down this season imo. How they treated Clarke, and Di Matteo before (well before Roy) him, wasn't fair.

Doesn't mean a lot anyway these days - he'll be in regular contact and probably be able to watch the game on a Sky feed like Paul Ince did.

Ok Pardew won't have the full picture for some games but in a way sitting up in the stands will help him keep clam.

Am I the only person who thinks the "headbutt" was a complete non-event and is just the media seizing upon a story due to lack of controversy recently. Seven games is just utter madness for what was no more than a slight push with his head. The constant harassment the fourth officials get is a bigger issue in my opinion, of which Pardew is also a criminal offender in fairness lol

It has been massively blown out of proportion.

Was speaking to a Norwich season ticket holder today who informed me that Ricky van Wolfswinkel is garbage!

I'm sure he said he's scored one goal all season and cost ten million quid!

So I rubbed it in a little about Vardy..

Yep. I am ashamed to admit was slagging Pardew off when I heard about it but I suppose it's a typical media meltdown. Shitstains on the sport.

That's a shame Dan. I thought you were spot on. I've never before seen what Pardew did. As a manager, it was pretty reprehensible and I thought the pundits were correct.. what message does it send out to his players and to football per se.

Pardew himself knew what he'd done and was immediately apologising profusely in front of the cameras.

A 7 match ban... he's got off very very lucky. In many professions, eg. The public sector, you'd be immediately suspended and likely sacked.

Stick to your guns buddy. IMO you were quite correct.

To be 'ashamed' for slagging him off? lol.. what's that about?

Because what he did, whilst I'm not condoning it, was nowhere near as bad as it's made out to be. I know he's in a bigger spotlight as a manager rather than one of the players, but the whole incident has been blown stupidly out of proportion. People are acting like Pardew battered him.

Should have been more than a 7 game ban.

For what reason? He barely touched him and I can't remember a player ever being banned for more than three games for a similar 'headbutt'.

He's a chav thug whose harassment of referees is an absolute embarrassment but I'd say his push on the linesman was worse for which he got a paltry 2-match ban. Whether that had an implication in this sentencing I don't know.

Does it matter if he full on "pearson Style" nutted him and left him for dead or, put his head in half arsed like the pussy he is?

The intent is the same! There was also no reason for him to react in that way. Yes Meyler gave him a little push but he was clearly going for the ball! If Pardew hadn't of let the ball role under his foot he wouldn't have been i the way in the first place! Not only that, but it is worse for a manger to be doing this, i don't care what sport you are in, for a manger to attack a player is completely out of order and should be severely punished!

Also, in all my years on this earth i have never ever, pushed anyone with my head! You just don't do it! The fact it was a shit headbutt is irrelevant!

I think Meyler should've rolled around and pretended he was hurt. We need more of that in the sport and we should encourage referees to be harder on players who've caused such reactions. After all Meyler had an excuse to go down and he's just doing what anyone else would do. Shame on Meyler.

Perhaps you are right that it shouldn't matter in sentencing. After all, I believe attempted murder can draw the same sentences as a successful one? However my point was that it's such a non-crime, blown all out of proportion, that a sentence of 7 games is more than enough. This is coming from someone who despises Pardew.

Is it worse? They are both grown men, acting in the same arena where passion and tensions run high. Fair enough it's lacking professionalism but so is any player doing the same. You wouldn't ban a 50 year old, let's say, Sales Manager, from a club for 7 years for headbutting a 28 year old Sales Assistant who would only get 3 years if he nutted a 18 year old Sales Assistant.

The ban and the fine was too heavy handed.

Age doesn't come into it for me! They may all have been in the same stadium but there is a difference between being on the pitch and being on the side of it. Players of any contact sport are always going to have little scraps now and then, heat of the moment stuff, which isn't right - i don't condone it but lets be honest it happens.

Being a manager stood on the touchline in a power of authority and reacting like Pardew though, there just isn't any need. They were comfortably winning at the time and it wasn't even a heated game at that point. I cannot fathom what he was thinking of. This is also the guy who pushed an official - again i'm asking why did he do that?

Pardew has accepted everything that he has been given which shows he knows he was in the wrong. Given some of Suarez's bans over the last few years i think 7 games is justifiable! In all my years of being a football fan i have never seen a manger do what Pardew did. It seems to some that its acceptable just because there was little contact. Not only that but i still do not buy the comparison to incidents on the pitch. i think it would have been blown out of proportion is the police had got involved on the grounds of assault as it clearly wasn't that. But from a football point of view it really was something that had to be punished!

Awful refereeing once again. Fvcked up the call and contributed to Kompany getting sent off then bottles a booking as well. Wonder what they see and what goes through their heads at times. Embarrassing.

Mason is an idiot. Soon as I saw him as ref, I knew something big would happen.
