SystonFox Posted 14 June 2013 Posted 14 June 2013 My garden shed is bigger than this I want to go home
Bayfox Posted 14 June 2013 Posted 14 June 2013 My garden shed is bigger than this I want to go home My garden shed is massive and a lot of the time i do wanna go home. Not really. Really wish this would stop. The moment has gone. As has the originality of it all. Que the name calling.
C-man Posted 14 June 2013 Posted 14 June 2013 Goalkeepers are over protected. Alf Ramsey was England's best ever manager.
Fox92 Posted 14 June 2013 Posted 14 June 2013 Alf Ramsey was England's best ever manager. Ohh, well considering he is the only manager to win us the World Cup... (Although he was then sacked).
C-man Posted 14 June 2013 Posted 14 June 2013 Ohh, well considering he is the only manager to win us the World Cup... (Although he was then sacked). He did but it was a home World Cup during which a lot of things went our way to even reach the final - i.e. the German ref who sent off Rattin in the Argentina game for allegedly saying 'I want a translator' (bet he regretted that a week or so later ). He left some of the most gifted players out - most notably Greaves in the final - throughout his tenure (Frankie Wortho, Hudson and Osgood of Chelsea, Rodney Marsh, Charlie George) and failed to qualify for 1974 despite having only Poland and Wales in our group!

Greaves was unfit and Hurst scored a fvcking hat trick! You know you're actually making a point for me that I've so often tried to make. That decision showed why Ramsey deserved the world cup. It would have been easy for him to play Greaves because he was the big name. But he didn't, he stuck with the player who had done a good job for him up until then, and was rewarded handsomely. If only modern England managers would do that, pick a player on form and actual quality rather than just a name, we might get somewhere. Ramsey was undoubtedly the best England manager. He may not have been the best manager out of those to manage England, but he was the best England manager. He won it, no one else has even come close. By the way, I've always thought Rattin was sent off for hacking people and then continually questionning every decision. You'd be sent off for that kind of thing these days, make no mistake. And as it happens, I don't agree with your other supposed myth either. You must be a goalkeeper to come out with that!

If you win the World Cup that's generally considered a success.

ealingfox Posted 15 June 2013 Posted 15 June 2013 Ohh, well considering he is the only manager to win us the World Cup... (Although he was then sacked). Didn't know Abramovich was head of the FA in the 60s...
Bayfox Posted 15 June 2013 Posted 15 June 2013 Didn't know Abramovich was head of the FA in the 60s... Was he also behind sacking sir bobby and terry venables?

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 15 June 2013 Posted 15 June 2013 Eriksson improved England's FIFA World Ranking from 17th place in January 2001 to 5th place in July 2006, reaching 4th during the 2006 World Cup, and was rated by the FA as England's second most successful manager after Alf Ramsey. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sven-G%C3%B6ran_Eriksson

One big myth is 'playing the West Ham way'. Thats all their fans go on about but in my life they have never played amazing football.
Fox92 Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 One big myth is 'playing the West Ham way'. Thats all their fans go on about but in my life they have never played amazing football. In my life, they haven't either. But I think it refers back to the 60s/70s (?) with the likes of Moore, Hurst, Peters etc. Would have been a great team to watch. I do like West Ham though, they have produced some great players in this Country.
