DennisNedry Posted 28 May 2013 Posted 28 May 2013 OLD NEW Wow, they've ruined it! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-22696130
Guest Posted 28 May 2013 Posted 28 May 2013 Haven't they just said something about ditching that plan? Edit: not ditching it but consulting with fans or something
Guest Bilo Posted 28 May 2013 Posted 28 May 2013 Looks terrible, the 'old' badge has more class and is traditional looking. Ironically though, the tower on the new badge looks much more like the actual Prince Rupert's Tower.
Harry - LCFC Posted 28 May 2013 Posted 28 May 2013 I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as people are making out. There are far worse out there. None the less I do prefer the original.

ScouseFox Posted 28 May 2013 Posted 28 May 2013 New one is shite. They've released an apology saying they will revert back to their proper badge in 2014/15 after protests from fans. Fair enough I guess.
Danizen Posted 28 May 2013 Posted 28 May 2013 The old badge definitely needs cleaning up a bit but the new one just looks shit.
Kitchandro Posted 28 May 2013 Posted 28 May 2013 The new one just looks so amateurish and pathetic. When I look at the old one I see a proud old club. When I look at the new one I see Blue Square North.

Fair enough I guess. Why are they waiting a year? It's only been out a week, surely nows the time to cut their loses and revert back before rolling out a bunch of products with the new badge on.

I bet their kits are already being/been produced.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 28 May 2013 Posted 28 May 2013 Call it nostalgia, but I always liked the cleaner 90s version, I'm guessing they won't go back to this because it doesn't have the "brand" name in big, bold letters.
Jimothy Posted 29 May 2013 Posted 29 May 2013 They've probably already done them. I bet their kits are already being/been produced. Just seems more sensible to go to Nike and say sorry we messed up in the badge can we scrap those kits you've made. To change for a one year means they'll have change lots if things. If the have a badge in the ground, that'll have to go. Remember when there was talk of city going back to Fosse. How much would it have cost to change that giant glass badge? And then revert it back after a year! Then there's all the merchandise in the club shop they'll have to get produced with the new badge on like mugs, bottles, footballs, teddy bears, pens, anything even up to cufflinks and car mats, all of which judging by the fans reaction, won't sell well because they all hate the badge and will all be out dated within a year anyway. Just seems more sensible to stop it now and cut their loses on anything they've had made with the new badge on.
indierich06 Posted 29 May 2013 Posted 29 May 2013 I can see what they wanted to do, to simplify it a little bit, but that effort is terrible.

purpleronnie Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 Funny how clubs listen to fans when their revenue could be reduced. Crappy badge = less shirt sales.
Jordan Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 Not that the controversial new badge was a masterpiece or anything, but there was nothing wrong with it whatsoever.
Kitchandro Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 Not that the controversial new badge was a masterpiece or anything, but there was nothing wrong with it whatsoever. Well it looked absolute shit and obviously omitted things that were important to Everton fans. All this badge changing is rubbish anyway. We had to change ours from the one we had in the 80s because it was terrible but the changes we've made to the current one were unnecessary and made it worse. I really hope we don't change it completely again.
Zingari Posted 4 October 2013 Posted 4 October 2013 I can't see why they'd want an old drunk tank as the centrepiece of the badge in the first place ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Rupert's_Tower
