SOCCERROO FOX Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 what's the deal with Perth? It's almost taken as read we will lose there as the surface and playing conditions are so alien to players from the Northern Hemisphere but why? Even really good England sides have lost to putrid Australian ones there in the past. there must be an argument that since the game is supposed to be a battle between sides on an equal footing that we should not agree to play at a venue so manifestly favouring one side . (Not sure how that argument can be extended to India of course) . Perhaps we need to play all 5 matches in the next home series at Chester-le street with Onions selected on this occasion! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/cricket/article-2506893/THE-ASHES-2013-Australian-cricket-chief-James-Sutherland-begun-war-words-doctored-pitches.html
Uncle Albert Posted 12 December 2013 Posted 12 December 2013 Cook Carberry Root Pietersen Bell Prior Stokes Bresnan Broad Swann Anderson That would be my eleven, don't expect it to be that but that's what I would like to see. 4 seemers in 5-6 spells, cause uncertainty, don't let Clarke and co get comfortable facing 8/10 Anderson overs and then bring Swann in to the attack, we've become all to predictable with our bowling this tour. The eleven I've picked also lets us potentially bat all the way down to number 9.
Matt Posted 12 December 2013 Posted 12 December 2013 Time for England to wake up, up their game, sort it out, give us half a chance.

Guest MattP Posted 12 December 2013 Posted 12 December 2013 Not a bad side that Albert but I'd still think Finn should be coming in here, if w aren't going play him in Perth then I don't see why he was on the plane.
Alexikokopops Posted 12 December 2013 Posted 12 December 2013 Popped out with the Barmy Army last night. Hanging today. A local refused to believe I was supporting England because, and I quote, "you're a Paki". WELCOME TO OZ

WELCOME TO OZ You better get some decent drinking in to you so you last a full day on the piss with me and the boys. Would of expected those sort of comments in North Queensland.

Didn't they expect Finn to start instead of Tremlett in the Brisbane Test but his form wasn't great? Also something about his run up.. God knows, he should be playing when on song and if he was trusted and in form to play I would be dropping Anderson. Michael Vaughan has tweeted he thinks Tremlett is going to start this Test, so him in for Panesar/Swann and maybe Bresnan in for Stokes.

Yeah he got spanked around by a second rate village side in a warm up, not good. Bresnan out on the pitch bowling so looks like he is in. Tremlett not a bad shout, took a few here last time.
leicsmac Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 Lost the toss, batting second again. Perfect.
Guest MattP Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 Not as quick as a usual Perth track but plenty in it.
Guest MattP Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 Huge wicket for Swann just before lunch. Evenly poised.
Alexikokopops Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 It's so damn hot. We've had to come back to my cousin's for a dip in the pool. Massive wicket for Swan at the end there. Is that a humblebrag or just a brag? Sorry FT Yeah you'll get that over there. What's the Barmy Army pub in Perth, lucky shag again? The weird thing about it all is that I have a Scottish great great uncle but that's as exotic as my family gets You better get some decent drinking in to you so you last a full day on the piss with me and the boys. Would of expected those sort of comments in North Queensland. You're going to break me aren't you?
Guest MattP Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 I know you're not Asian, I got called it as well in Sydney when I said I was from Leicester by someone. P.S Its 40 mins everywhere!
Guest MattP Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 Good toss to lose this, have to capitalise now.
leicsmac Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 After losing the toss this is great - still need to get Haddin and Johnson both quickly, though. Really want a lead of 100+ because chasing a fourth innings total of 250+ on this pitch on Day 4/5 would be very, very tough.
Super_horns Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 Good solid start - decent bowling by Swann.Of course can we actually put an inning together when it comes to our go.

I didn't even mention Leicester I had in my head that it lunch was an hour! I have no idea where that came from I watch enough cricket to know better. I blame this infernal heat. 37 degrees! I'm on my second t-shirt
Matt Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 Not doing bad, but need to kill the innings off now because I this is now beginning to run away from us, slowly, nothing to worry about just yet but need to get to work and get the out, certainly holt their run rate.
Guest MattP Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 Doing well but I can't even begin to imagine how tired the bowlers must be feeling in this heat. Manage to get out of this with 7 down and we've had a good day.
Matt Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 I agree with Strauss and Warne it is pretty even, however I think it is slightly edging Australia's way now, we'll be able to make more of an assessment at the close I guess. An interesting couple of hours left ahead.
The People's Hero Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 That is a glorious cover drive from smith coming down the pitch. He's a joy to watch then he's in.
