Dan Posted 2 July 2013 Posted 2 July 2013 http://www.afcb.co.uk/news/article/2013-07-02-cherries-to-host-real-madrid-890863.aspx Absolutely shameful stuff. To have the cheek to claim it's a "treat for the fans" too. No doubt it still sells out though.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 2 July 2013 Posted 2 July 2013 Just been on SSN, 55 quid to Watch a friendly !!! How much did we charge ? Can't remember it being over 30 quid.
Stuliasz Posted 2 July 2013 Posted 2 July 2013 "We see the fixture as a well earned gift to our fans for their unwavering dedication to AFC Bournemouth" They obviously don't understand the definition of the word 'gift'.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 2 July 2013 Posted 2 July 2013 Their chairman on SSN came across as a right twat. Ohhh I expect people to pay 60 quid. When I got Real Madrid coming over. I would never pay 60 quid for a friendly. Our owners got it right tbf. Ours was a treat.
Dan Posted 2 July 2013 Author Posted 2 July 2013 All of a sudden dreading what they'll lump us with when we go there... It's a shame really. Would've been a genuinely good event for the club and its reputation but all they've done is come out looking greedy twats - for the sake of a bit more money. Modern football for you though. Their chairman on SSN came across as a right twat. Ohhh I expect people to pay 60 quid. When I got Real Madrid coming over.I would never pay 60 quid for a friendly. Our owners got it right tbf. Ours was a treat. Ours wasn't overly cheap but it wasn't bad. Excellent compared to this. I agree ours was definitely more of a treat.
Guest MattP Posted 2 July 2013 Posted 2 July 2013 Why not? People will pay it. Disgraceful but I expect nothing less. If ever a game need boycotting that's it but people will be so desperate to see Ronaldo etc they will turn up. If the Season Ticket holders don't bother will be a few glory hunters or tourists ready to take their place, club don't care.
Kitchandro Posted 2 July 2013 Posted 2 July 2013 Even £30 is over the top. I only went because I managed to get a cheeky concession.
ousefox Posted 2 July 2013 Posted 2 July 2013 Can probably get a flight to Madrid for that! Wouldn't even pay half that myself for a totally pointless game.
Fox92 Posted 2 July 2013 Posted 2 July 2013 The thing here is I image a lot of fans will pay it, because they are going to see the mighty Real Madrid. Not that I agree with it, I don't, but you'll always get the people that pay it - just like with Leeds away etc - and £60 for a friendly is ridiculous imo, regardless of opposition. I'd much rather pay less and attend a league match that will mean something.
21st Century Fox Posted 2 July 2013 Posted 2 July 2013 You'd assume Real are charging a fair whack to play and as they only hold about 11,000 they've got to cover the cost. Ridiculous though.
Dan Posted 2 July 2013 Author Posted 2 July 2013 Best not give our owners any ideas Give them an idea - make it cheap for Monaco and make Bournemouth look like even bigger twats.
Libertine Dream Posted 2 July 2013 Posted 2 July 2013 I wonder how much it cost to get them to play the friendly, it was a million when they came here, wasn't it? They've got a smaller ground, less merchandising opportunity and probably less chance of selling rights to the game so their only option to make it financially viable is to charge obscene prices.
Webbo Posted 2 July 2013 Posted 2 July 2013 Tbf Bournemouth have probably had to pay Real a lot of money to secure this match (wasn't it reported we paid £1million?) They have to get their money back somehow.
Dan Posted 2 July 2013 Author Posted 2 July 2013 You'd assume Real are charging a fair whack to play and as they only hold about 11,000 they've got to cover the cost. Ridiculous though. Fair point but that's part of the package of being a smaller club.
Libertine Dream Posted 2 July 2013 Posted 2 July 2013 Talking of the Monaco game, it's now just over 3 weeks away and still no word from the club about it?
Hugo Sanchez Posted 2 July 2013 Posted 2 July 2013 I think our glamour game over the years haven't been badly price. We're had Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and even Brazil playing at our stadium. Monaco too add to the collection. The club have been quite good to us over the years in getting teams you wouldn't dream off seeing in Leicester.
purpleronnie Posted 2 July 2013 Posted 2 July 2013 Business is business, if they knew people wouldn't pay it they wouldn't charge that or maybe wouldn't even try and get those hig profile fixtures, there's very little heart left within football clubs thesedays, sod those that turn out every week push them aside so we can fleece as many as possible. The club can't lose.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 2 July 2013 Posted 2 July 2013 Purpleronnie, How much do MLS side charge when they play the big European sides ?
Super_horns Posted 2 July 2013 Posted 2 July 2013 People will pay it of course so the clubs will think its fine - I guess its to cover the costs for having Madrid over. Even just having a Reserve side would cost loads. Read elsewhere RM are playing Galatasaray the following day....so wouldn't expect the top stars to turn up.

You have to wonder what Kaka, Ronaldo etc think when instead of preparing properly for a season there are flying over to play Bournemouth. Well paid whores footballers these days.
