MC Prussian Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Pointless game, glad I saved the money and 2 hour round trip watching on sky. Concerned that we are a week away from the start of the season and both gallagher and danns are still getting pitch time.... Were you expecting us to win it convincingly against a top and star-studded Ligue 1 side? It could well be that both Gallagher and Danns were only placed on the pitch to either regain/gain fitness or to be presented on a platter in order to attract interest from other clubs.
NGoloMode Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Unbelievable movement off the ball. Now I see why he scores so many goals. This! He was so quick to get into dangerous positions.
5waller5 Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 I've been a big fan of Danns and wanted to see him during the bad run of last season as an attempt at something different. But my word he was poor today!!!
5waller5 Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 This! He was so quick to get into dangerous positions. He is used to being tracked ..... I bet he couldn't believe the defending at times today!
Socrates Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 On a positive.... We bossed the first five minutes!!!! Was good football when they were getting it out to De Laet!

This close to the season, should gallagher and danns be playing to regain fitness or attract interest from others, or should the starting 11 be playing together to get used to the system we will use next week. After viewing today's game and leamingtons it just feels like Pearson and the players are just going through the motions. We need to hit the ground running next week with 3pts on the board, not just accept a 2-1 defeat which I feel may be the case...
5waller5 Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Was good football when they were getting it out to De Laet! Yeah it was..... And de laet looked impressive with the ball .... One of the big positives from the game.

I've got to say, hopefully without drawing lots of NP defensiveness, that he looked and sounded like he was going through the motions..... I couldn't believe just how mundane the sky interview was ..... Does he not look forward to anything or get excited by anything??? It's hardly inspirational.
Dan Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 The predictable over-reactions in here as usual. Some of our fans are absolutely embarrassing with the way they nitpick every single thing that could possibly be a negative in our side and use it against Pearson. It was a friendly against a team that have spent more this summer than we have in the past 15 years, if not more. Started well but got worse the longer it went on. Definitely looked better in the first half. How anyone can slam 3-5-2 yet praise 4-4-2/4-5-1 based on todays game baffles me.

Have a read of what I wrote... http://wp.me/p3F22g-7 I thought the 3-5-2 looked way better than the 4-4-1-1.
Dan Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Am I the only one who thought we played 451 second half? It was 4-5-1 until Bakayogo came on. Takes a special forward to play that role effectively - we had Waghorn.
milnerfc Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Vardy and Waghorn are not up to scratch you can try and paint them like Picasso it aint going to f**king work need a 3rd choice striker or if not possible promote a striker from the Under 21s. Waghorn brought the ball down well was strong, held the ball up and kept possession and had one of our only shots of the second half, other than that he had no service?? How can people say anything about his performance today???

What over reaction do you find embarrassing???

How can people say anything about his performance today??? Waghorn was decent but had terrible passes played up to him. Vardy's first touch is a joke even though his movement is decent.

GingerrrFox Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Waghorn is the scapegoat for so many people. He's easily a better all round forward than Wood. Wood is the better finisher but Waghorn is the more complete footballer. For me Waghorn needs to be combined with Wood or Nugent in the 3-5-2 formation that is our best chance for success.
Babylon Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Really? Him and Vardy worry me. They all worry me if nobody is going to support them. We might as well not play with forwards and have two extra men in midfield.

Agree...Waghorn and Nugent could work. Would like to see Knockeart in a central role off Nugent tried as well. 3-5-2 was way better than the 4-4-1-1 today.
milnerfc Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Really? Him and Vardy worry me. Waghorn hardly put a foot wrong with the service and more importantly support from the midfield he received!! I'm not a massive waghorn fan but I don't see how he can be slated as some have for his performance today.
I blame Wellens Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 A good training exercise for Monaco. A predictable performance by us. The players like Danns, Waggy, Vardy and Gally showed what they did last season. Kasper and Wes as always did themselves justice. Marshall proved once again he can't cross a bridge. James a little touch of class in the middle. Konch 'new hair' same player. Knocky tries hard. And Pearson - no comment. Shirts looked nice:-)
Wherethefoxhat? Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Ermmmm......might it be the midfield do you think ? You know it's not anywhere good enough .....I know it's not good enough ......Uncle Tom Cobley (& his mates ) know it's not good enough .......so why doesn't our manager & his now Director Of Football......not to mention the owners, who watch the same games as us know it's just not good enough ????? FFS !!! Sort it asap I say or it's goodnight nurse !!!
Dickov22 Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 I thought first half decent performances were: Morgan De Laet James Drinkwater We CANNOT play 3-5-2 with SSL and Whitbread making up 2 of the 3. Too many gaps, poor distribution and a lack of pace. It suits De Laet, but not Konchesky. Second half was dreadful. Waghorn will NEVER be good enough. It really depresses me that 3 years on, we still have a player so poor at the club. It shows we've really not moved on much. I thought Marshall had a good half, that's about it. Danns showed us why NP doesn't rate him. There's no chance he will be a starter this season. Let's hope we get an offer for him. Pointless pre season friendly really- players involved who won't be this season- Gally, Danns, for example. Can't have done the players confidence much good either. Only thing it helped is fitness. Encouraging thing is we have some real quality- James, Morgan, Knockaert, Marshall (I think). I don't think NP knows his best 11. We need a centre half as well. Desperately.
I blame Wellens Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Would love a striker we could believe in. Just for a few games. If we had that all the other failings would be forgotten and I would be well up for it. Come on Nigel! I would even start believing in you again.
