Bert Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 I get the feeling people forgot his importance/impact during our patches of good form last season. Like many who hadn't experienced a full intense season he just suffered from burnout. Keeps us ticking Yup. Arguably our best player.
kingfox Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 he linked play alot today and always wants it back, its mo coincidence he was our best player last season when we were flying I have admitted that myself, in the past. But from January he has been shit, and on today's performance he doesn't look to be improving. Never rated him, just so negative it becomes so frustrating, you just want to bang your head against a wall. He turned on the ball so much today, passed it back and slows things down, he needs about 5 extra seconds to pick a pass. It's a real shame, because I started liking him at the start of last season, when as you say that was when he was playing well. Nowadays he makes me want to bring my victims list back.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 I actually thought Whitbread played semi-decent and anyone criticising him today for his apparent fondness of hoofball needs a rethink. Always looked to pass on the deck, resorted to pumping it if there was nothing on.
Leicesterpool Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Even though last season we moaned about problems in the midfield department and some on here suggested playing an extra man, we now found the problem of too many in midfield! Sounds like the midfield gets to confused so starting from Tuesday night, lets try just four in the midfield and maybe that extra attacker. Team ahead of Northampton- Logan (Needs some game time i think) St Ledger Morgan Moore De Laet Schlupp James King Marshall Wood Nugent (if fit) Bench: Smith, Whitbread, Konchesky, Bakayogo, Drinkwater, Danns, Waghorn, Gallagher, Dyer, Hopper, Futacs, Knockaert & Vardy.
GingerrrFox Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 How anyone can call Waghorn an embarrassment when Wood looked like a Leicester Tigers player had been shoved into a blue shirt is beyond me. The 3-5-2 showed more potential for me than the 4-5-1/4-4-2 in the 2nd half. I felt we lacked pace on the left compared to the right but that could be combated with Baka/Schlupp instead of Konch who I would like to have been tried at LCB. The 3 in midfield was wrong as there was no out and out creative player in there. Kingy seemed to go missing though and Knocky looked wasted out wide but did little in the game.
Leicester Lass Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Thought we were very disappointing to be honest. We're going to struggle for goals this season, not one of the strikers offered any kind of attacking threat.
artursteppe Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Danns and Knockaert were rubbish, King was poor.( edit) Dyer was rubbish as well, almost forgot he came on. Drinky, Whitbread, Marshall were quite good. Schlupp was crap at full back, but OK further forward. The rest were average.
Simo86 Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Always wanting the ball, are you serious. The guy is a puff, shield it and pass it back. Doing the simple thing is the best thing, you don't see James & King turning back on themselves and shielding it nearly every time. Him and Danns are fookin crap, if I had a car I would happily drive them all the way to Penzance and leave them there. KIng does pass the ball backwards a lot though
Happy Fox Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Clear as daylight we need another CB and central midfielder such a bleeding shame we cannot bring anyone in.
kingfox Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 KIng does bass the ball backwards a lot though He looks forward though as well, he has better understanding with James, he can make a good tackle nowadays, and he has a goal in him. Anyway, I'm having a break to wash my balls in the bath, before I get into trouble for wanting to headbutt Drinkwater.
Simo86 Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Clear as daylight we need another CB and central midfielder such a bleeding shame we cannot bring anyone in. Who says that we can't? Its more of a case of finding the right players to fit into our financial structure
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Just a friendly, dull game from our point of view but it was a training excercise
Babylon Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Does anyone remember that preseason when what happened in those games gave an accurate picture of the season ahead... no neither do I.
davieG Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Our biggest problems today if you ignore the 3 goals conceded against a obviously superior side were our final ball into the box and set pieces so many of which landed straight in the goal keeper's hands. The same problems we've had for some time.

The same problems we've had for some time. Davie, please don't bring up set pieces... It's so bloody depressing at both ends of the field. I honestly think with minor improvements at both ends in that area we would have been in quite a different place last year to the one we finished.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Why are we giving game time to players who will not be involved this season? Gallagher may as well pull his pants down and show the crowd his arse. Danns would have a better pass completion rate if he was made to play blindfolded. I doubt either will play once the season starts, so why waste valuable warm up games on them? I can see Danns as part of the match day squads. foxes4e4 Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 James and Pearson's interviews on RL sound really reasonable. I don't see how people are picking negatives, is it a case of Alan Young influencing people? He's been nothing but negative about that game, where he doesn't really need to be. Saturday, you cannot come soon enough! hear hear
AKCJ Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 I can see Danns as part of the match day squads. Some of the Leicester Tiger's players would have done a better job today. Yep, even though they're all at my local (it's been one of their wedding's today) I suspect they'd have been better.
Lionator Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 It took 2 minutes 12 seconds before the person in front of me moaned about the team.
Manwell Pablo Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Does anyone remember that preseason when what happened in those games gave an accurate picture of the season ahead... no neither do I. Actually after the Sociedad game I predicted they'd get relegated, and they did, horribly. When you get to this stage you should be playing something like the side you want to start on the first day to get it gelled. But we aren't doing that I admit. Unfortunately we've not played any where near the amount of friendlies I'd of liked to see and as a result we're chopping and changing far too much.
MC Prussian Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 We shall see how this season is coming along after the first ten, fifteen, twenty games. Up until then, I reserve judgement on a side that has yet to play a competitive game. Yes, we didn't play well going forward and too many attacks went missing, the midfield failed to link up with the strikers again, but on the whole, I think we played quite well, in particular in 3-5-2.

I'm with you, feels like there should be another three friendlies. I don't know if it has to do with the early start, us having extra games at the end of last year, or him thinking we burned out and trying to save us. I actually thought today was the last game and was massively pissed off with all the changes. I now know we have one more left but we should have at least been minimising the changes, especially when trying out a new formation. I would have been much happier sticking with the 352 second half and bringing on another few people to change it to a more attacking style than the defensive one we started with.
Guest Col city fan Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Apparently Knocky told his French friends that we were gonna win today. Knocky, I thought, was useless. He had no idea where he was playing and no-one saw the runs he was making. I finally have to concede.... Exactly what does Drinkwater bring to the team? He passes forward effectively sooooo infrequently. Work to do on this lot.
Leicesterpool Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Thought we were very disappointing to be honest. We're going to struggle for goals this season, not one of the strikers offered any kind of attacking threat. I agree we haven't got a goalscorer in the team, only creators. We are in need of a good striker, is there any chance of us signing Billy Sharp?
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 3-5-2 looks ok but alot of onus on the wing backs although granted we don't play Monaco every week. I still think 4-3-3 works well for us as I do like the 3 man midfield. It's good that we have more than 1 option this season, that will stand us in good stead. Anyone that went to Shrewsbury away last pre season will understand that today was actually ok . I actually feel very positive still, we have a lot of talented players and people forget that. I do hope marshall and knockaert find their best form again though
