Happy Fox Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Wood was worse than Waghorn today and that is not even debatable. Really? at least he hit the target.
GingerrrFox Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Really? at least he hit the target. He can't control the ball. Waghorn is our best forward for linking the play, holding the ball up and bridging the gap between midfield and attack. Give Wood the ball to finish and he does it but in open play he looks like a rugby player who's been given the wrong shaped ball to play with.
dannythefox Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Nothings changed from last season apart from we've signed a left back. If we don't get a midfielder that doesn't take any shit and a new striker we wont do any better than last season and thats a fact.
Grewks Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Today we played against a top side....which took it really seriously. The way their players approached the game, and the way ranieri was on the touchline barking orders all game suggested to me that an un-knowledgeable person could have guessed monaco thought it was a competitive fixture.
kingfox Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 We can debate all day but he actually played a fair few forward passes today and constantly played the ball to the wide players or often looked wide for options. That's not my opinion chaps, that actually happened today. He was better than king or Danns IMO. Plus he is allowed to go back you know, it's called ball retention. It's better than pumping it constantly and handing possession back to the opposition The problem like I said mate, is he does it too often. James doesn't continue to do this, King doesn't continue to do this. Everyone played a forward pass at least once today, but with Drinkwater he often looks back instead of forward, how is the team going to get any urgency, if he looks back all the time. He turns on the ball, shields it and passes it back, it's too easy, it's too negative. He plays like he is scared, he hardly puts his foot in either when going for tackles, he just isn't brave enough. And when he turns on the ball, and passes it back, it allows the opposition to get back, defend and get into shape, which then becomes harder for us to break the opposition down, because Drinkwater takes too long on the ball, far too often. James and King look to get it out there feet, they look to play it forward, Drinkwater takes too long on the ball, he needs about five extra seconds to pick a pass, like he doesn't have a clue what to do with it, so he turns and passes it back. It's frustrating Chris, and very annoying.
5waller5 Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Davie, please don't bring up set pieces... It's so bloody depressing at both ends of the field. I honestly think with minor improvements at both ends in that area we would have been in quite a different place last year to the one we finished. I'd agree with that entirely..... Especially corners, we look like we'll concede from every one and yet never score from one of ours. I was going to ask do we not practise them - but by practising against our toothless attack we think we're good enough defending them!!
5waller5 Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 On a positive.... We bossed the first five minutes!!!!

A team shit at attacking corners practising with a team shit at defending them is hardly a recipe for improvement!!!
MC Prussian Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 How was Falcao? Who scored for them? Kurzawa, Falcao and Tisserand.

MC Prussian Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Thought we were very disappointing to be honest. We're going to struggle for goals this season, not one of the strikers offered any kind of attacking threat. There were a few chances, I think Wood, James and Waghorn (with that cheeky attempt at a side-lob) came very close.
Babylon Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Anyone catch what the Thais were saying on SKY? Something about blaming Wellens.
kingfox Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Anyone catch what the Thais were saying on SKY? They were saying, why is that Happy Fox never happy.
Happy Fox Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 They were saying, why is that Happy Fox never happy. True that bro, after watching Drinkwater play it isn't half depressing, Knockaert should of started the game, I wish NP had foresight, one day maybe.
phillo Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Were not gonna meet a team as good as that in the championship are we Were not gonna meet a team as good as that in the championship are we
Smudge Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Apparently Knocky told his French friends that we were gonna win today. Knocky, I thought, was useless. He had no idea where he was playing and no-one saw the runs he was making. I finally have to concede.... Exactly what does Drinkwater bring to the team? He passes forward effectively sooooo infrequently. Work to do on this lot. I think that boat has sailed.
Socrates Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Hi Foxes, Just wrote a tactical review of the game based on the two different tactics Pearson played in this match. Have a read and tell me what you think. http://wp.me/p3F22g-7 If you like it, or think other Foxes would like to read it, just follow me on twitter and retweet it. Twitter name is @Socrates_Footy
Socrates Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 How was Falcao? Who scored for them? Unbelievable movement off the ball. Now I see why he scores so many goals.
alanf0x Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Pointless game, glad I saved the money and 2 hour round trip watching on sky. Concerned that we are a week away from the start of the season and both gallagher and danns are still getting pitch time....
Foxhateram Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 Outclassed by a higher class. We held them better second half but had nothing to hit them with. Some positive bits of play along with some good runs and fitness levels looking ok. Lots of positives to take. Now just to work on a few things and kick start the season. Today was all about fitness and gathering some gate money and publicity money. Onwards and upwards.
