Recommended Posts

Reading it on Coventry forum now.

Does that mean they arn't a club anymore? Not very good on all this business stuff.

Sad news.

Confirmed by the Beeb.

I'm not sure they'll have a football club next season for long. I doubt they'll be able to guarantee they can fulfil all 46 fixtures when the company is in liquidation, they're playing 34 miles from the city that is supposedly represented by the club and they've only managed to shift 200-300 season tickets.

At best, it'll be a Luton Town situation for them with a 20-30 point deduction from the start of the season. At worst, it's AFC Coventry City playing at the rugby ground in the Midland Alliance.

Sad day for football. Hopefully they somehow recover. This happens a lot, and Coventry are a fairly big club.

Should never have moved from Highfield Road. That was 100x better than the dull Richo.

It's happened a lot to non-league clubs.

Chester, Halifax, King's Lynn and Darlington to name but a few.

They'll start the season, but they'll do well to last till Christmas with everything against them.

They was saying on Talk-sport yesterday that the owners of the ground had agreed to let them use the Ricoh and they will receive a revenue of between 150k - 400k depending on division, the decision had to be made today obviously they have turned it down and now gone into liquidation.

Very sad news... I really feel for their fans, I certainly hope they can recover from this. I wish them all the best

Sad to see, rivals or not. Happy for them to be shit and drop through the leagues but I don't want them to go bust.

However I bet on them to be relegated this season so that's looking good, as long as they survive.

At the moment it's just one of the companies that own the club that is being liquidated. The club still exists at the moment and will start the season with between 10-30 points deducted.

All club rivalry aside, this is another sad day for football

Just spoke to my mate about it who supports them and judging by what he's heard the end is nigh for them. There in that much s h i t the only way out of it is going bust and starting again in non league!

I feel for the fans who go but those who don't haven't helped, they got 31k for a Paint Pot cup game, if two thirds of those had been there most weeks the situation might've been easier.

It must be the end of the current Coventry City as a true club.

Not at all surprised, their fans gave up on supporting the club a long time ago and the club have been on a downward spiral ever since.

I couldn't care less if they celebrated when we got relegated etc, this is different. Getting relegated, or even going into administration 10/11years ago is different to this situation. Even though there's only about 10,000 left, not having a football club in a city of that size is ridiculous, a team of that size should never end up in this state.

Nightmare situation. They must be wondering how it ever got like this. I have to say I didn't envisage things getting this bad for them.

If they were still in Coventry they might have some hope, but they're probably finished now.

L O L.

Look, football can't be stopped. If the people of a town want a football club they're always going to have one. Occasionally a club rises higher than it should and the world brings them to earth with a crash.

Cov aren't big enough for the Ricoh and the Championship these days. It'll burn up and rise again and find its proper place just as Wimbledon has.

Have nothing but sympathy for the genuine Cov fans which form the vast majority, less so for the chavvy ones who took so much pleasure in our demise a decade or so ago. Terrible that any club let alone such a big one that represents a City should be allowed to fall into such a state, particularly at a time when other clubs are quibbling over whether to spend/sell a single player for £85m or £105m. Hope they somehow recover from this but its looking bleak.

I'm sorry but I have no sympathy for them. After years of grief from their fans it looks like they're finally finished.

Surely that's a good thing? They're the only team who take our rivalry seriously. Forest is boring as there response is always "we only hate Derby" and whereas Derby take it more seriously we're considered minor rivals compared to Forest.

It seems our rivalry was beginning to grow before the season they got relegated. It's a shame how far this is gone and I hope Leicester give them some form of assistance if we can.

When Cov are sent to non-league, I propose that the Thais buy Cov and use them for us to get around FFP whilst making sure to kill of Cov properly.
