Credit where it is due, Andy King's 50 goals

Recommended Posts

so according to the OS it's 250 games and 52 goals,  which is it?

How hard can it be to get simple stats like this correct?

So many good memories from those goals there

One of my favourites, while not a spectacular goal, was the third vs forest the year we beat them 3-0 after they'd beaten us 5-1 at their place! Mental 10 mins when the goals went in.

Also, best goal I have seen him score live was definitely the volley vs Leeds, what a goal!

Forgotten how good a goalscorer he is in recent times

So are we saying he has or has not made 250 appearances?

It's got me beat and the number of goals seems to be disputed.

I'll be honest I didn't think he was on 250 when they said so on the radio (nor did King either). I'd always relied on wiki for appearances and that had him around 247. I think someone has dropped a bollock somewhere

Soccerbase has him on 250 appearances in all competitions and they're normally bang on the money in terms of reliability.

No they're not.

Soccerbase cites him as having played 9 "other" games (I.e. Games other than league appearances, FA Cup or League Cup games) and I can't see where they have come from. He played 3 Johnstone's Paint Trophy matches and 4 play-off matches but I don't see where his other 2 "other" appearances come from?

The only thing I can think of is it counted our friendlies against Thailand and Malaysia, given that international friendlies bizarrely count towards caps, but they should never be considered competitive appearances and add to his appearance tally when friendlies against Monaco and Real Madrid don't.

He's definitely on 249 apps.
