isaidno Posted 27 August 2013 Posted 27 August 2013 Anyone been to the San Siro ? Me and my mate are staying in Milan next week for the Italian GP , and are looking at taking the stadium tour. We're quite unlucky as it's an international break next week and there's no match on.
Ashley Posted 27 August 2013 Posted 27 August 2013 My dad has been and he said to me, its lovely outside but inside the ground is old & untidy could do with work being done to 'freshen' the Stadium up. Ps; Its not the San Siro
whitlock Posted 27 August 2013 Posted 27 August 2013 I've only toured barca and Milan. Barca is far superior than Milan. San Siro is a bit of a dump IMO. Graffiti all over the place. I guess it's decent to say you've done it but yeah. Meh.
Mack Posted 27 August 2013 Posted 27 August 2013 I've been, and done the tour. Around the stadium (outside) it's a bit of a dive and on the inside it's an old stadium so don't expect state of the art facilities apart from in the dressing rooms (AC and Inter have separate personalized changing rooms) which are pretty smart. Huge panes of mega thick glass between ends and that famous roof and the towers that were installed for Italia 90, which if you are as old as me, still brings back very fond memories. The museum is interesting also, I seem to remember the tour included free entry to the museum, and as it's such an iconic stadium just to have been into the bowels gives a sense of the history.
Guesty Posted 28 August 2013 Posted 28 August 2013 It is surprising how different the stadium looks pre and post Italia 90.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 28 August 2013 Posted 28 August 2013 Ps; Its not the San Siro And Filbert Street wasn't Filbert Street, let's not be anal, mate!
Dan Posted 28 August 2013 Posted 28 August 2013 Would love to go there for a European game. The place is on a level of its own for how ballistic everyone goes at a goal
whitlock Posted 28 August 2013 Posted 28 August 2013 It is surprising how different the stadium looks pre and post Italia 90. It looks like some sort of energy power supplier. Horrible concrete jungle. A match day experience would be better money spent than the tour imo.

Ashley Posted 28 August 2013 Posted 28 August 2013 And Filbert Street wasn't Filbert Street, let's not be anal, mate! Go on the tour. The Stadium has and always will be called. Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. Lets not be anal.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 28 August 2013 Posted 28 August 2013 Go on the tour. The Stadium has and always will be called. Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. Lets not be anal. I know what it's called.
Jon the Hat Posted 28 August 2013 Posted 28 August 2013 Go on the tour. The Stadium has and always will be called. Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. Lets not be anal. Construction of the stadium commenced in 1925 in the district of Milan named San Siro, with the new stadium originally named "Nuovo Stadio Calcistico San Siro" (San Siro New Football Stadium).[ As it was built before Giuseppe Meazza played for Inter or Milan that seems a little unlikely.

Two years later, as on the tour. They refer to the ground always being called the Giuseppe Meazza. Only repating what tour guides have said. Also all road signs to the Stadium are Giuseppe Meazza & not the San Siro
Asha Posted 28 August 2013 Posted 28 August 2013 I'm assuming you always refer to Leicester's ground as the King Power Stadium then, Ashley?
isaidno Posted 28 August 2013 Author Posted 28 August 2013 I think the tour is 12 euro, worth going while I'm there. I did Camp Nou Barcelona last year and I've also done the MCG. Going to the olympiastadion in Berlin in October as well.
Ashley Posted 28 August 2013 Posted 28 August 2013 I'm assuming you always refer to Leicester's ground as the King Power Stadium then, Ashley? Walkers Bowl* & yep
potter3 Posted 29 August 2013 Posted 29 August 2013 It was called the San Siro for a fair bit before it was renamed after Giuseppe Meazza according to the official site.
Finnegan Posted 29 August 2013 Posted 29 August 2013 It's the San Siro, we all know it as the San Siro, the media, the fans, probably even the players here call it the San Siro. I don't give a **** what they call it on the official tour, I'm not a complete hipster. Upton Park is Upton Park, Filbo was Filbo, I can't spell Westfelenstadion but its definitely not Signal Park or whatever corporate shit it's meant to be. Fvck knows where you call home if you're a Betis fan because they seem to name that after a different local hero every week.

I've always liked the Boleyn Ground, miss the City Stadium and must visit Signal Iduna Park before I'm very much older.

Guest Bilo Posted 29 August 2013 Posted 29 August 2013 City BUSINESS Stadium, you fvcking pap. Forgot about that particular word!
Sharpe's Fox Posted 29 August 2013 Posted 29 August 2013 Can't believe these two massive clubs are still ground sharing! What is it like when they play each other? Do they split the fans 50/50 in both games or does a side has a majority of fans in one game, and the other has the majority in the corresponding fixture?
