z-layrex Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Not sure if someone else has posted this yet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4WacfEEd9g One comment from Marshall stood out for me, "They are a team that can get broken down" ...bit of a jeer at the defence? Or just saying what the BB fans want to hear ? What's he supposed to say? Got to say something positive like that.
Filbert_Ross Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 That 15 minutes spell at the start of the second half was amazing. How we didn't score in that period ill never know.
Leicester_Numan Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Just read on blackburn site that venkys are ploughing 2.5 million pounds a month into rovers. How does that fit with ffp? They're still getting parachute payments so it's ok at the moment. If they don't go back up and continue with that sort of expenditure till their payments stop though, they'll be in deep doodoo.I would imagine they'll give it till the end of the season and reorganise over the following season like we had to
Vlad the Fox Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 If they're getting parachute payments and they're still dropping that much money into the club they are in big trouble.
Guest Col city fan Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Well! We are playing some great football at present and are sitting top of the league! Hats off to em all.... The surprising thing for me is that I've not yet seen any team that particularly frightens me. I still think QPR will win it.. Quality in depth usually comes through in the end. But both Wigan and Blackburn were surprisingly poor? Either that or we just made them look poor. The difference this season IMO is this: we go away to Blackpool on Saturday thinking we can certainly win the game. Last season, away from home, I wouldn't have necessarily said that.
marbelladave Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Interesting. City go top of the table and it's all quiet on here........ Talk about managing expectations, NFP downplaying everything to the extent that hardly anyone is interested. Top of the table? So what. Going saturday? Nah, too expensive. Playing well? Not bad but our strikers still can't score in a brothel. Normally I would be all over this, back to back wins, some decent play, but it's hard to get excited. Sign an experienced international defender and hardly anyone notices........strange.

Surprising how quiet it is here when were doing well. Can just imagine all these people standing by there keyboards waiting for the next defeat(or draw).
Alf Bentley Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 From that interview, I notice that Marshall couldn't be bothered taking out the bit of gum or mint or whatever he was chewing/sucking. Judging from his performance last night, he didn't bother taking it out while he was playing either.
Guest Col city fan Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Pearson out!! Surprising how quiet it is here when were doing well. Can just imagine all these people standing by there keyboards waiting for the next defeat(or draw). I do know what you mean mate and I was guilty of that, to some extent at least, last season. Don't forget we did go on our longest unwinning run ever, I think? This season, as I said, I'm taking it game by game and not getting carried-away too quickly, either by wins or losses. Being a City fan, it seems the sensible option.
marbelladave Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Pearson out!! Surprising how quiet it is here when were doing well. Can just imagine all these people standing by there keyboards waiting for the next defeat(or draw). That's part of it Poaky. The other part is the lack of any real excitement or positivity coming out of the club, no positive reaction from the players or management, seemingly just a grim determination to 'work hard' and 'do better'. I'm not suggesting that we go over the top, we have all seen that of course, but really, do we have to be quite this grim?
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 All I am going to say is 442 top of the leauge !!!! :

Sign an experienced international defender and hardly anyone notices........strange. It's only seven games, that's why. We're top on goal difference with much of the season left to go, it isn't anything to shout about IMO. I'm sure people will have more to say if we're still in the top two after fifteen games having shown this isn't just a short term thing.

I'm not suggesting that we go over the top, we have all seen that of course, but really, do we have to be quite this grim? I personally think the 'grim determination' is absolutely what we should be doing Dave. We've had too much expectation, elation, disappointment. This season seems calmer and a more sensible and pragmatic approach to games. And it's paying off, thus far.
foxfanazer Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 6 points from those 2 games is a great effort. I have to admit with our lack of activity in the transfer window I was concerned we'd be short of quality but so far that's not been the case. i still worry we're a bit short on numbers if we get a few injuries and would like to see us add a couple of loan players (left back and winger). Before Wigan we were grinding out results and at times it wasn't pretty but it showed the team had character and mental strength, now it looks like we are starting to play. We need to make the KP a fortress this season and be positive away from home. Also its great to see players like Vardy and Drinkwater playing so well, Vardy in particular. Nobody would have predicted him performing how he has so far. Massive game saturday now and I can't wait! COYB!!
Dan Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Interesting about Marshall. So many people seemed to back him to score that I'm not surprised he didn't. You'd have thought he'd be giving it everything to prove Pearson made a mistake but to be honest, he was shite. Hardly involved (as usual) and you only had to see one little incident where he was tackled in the box, he could've certainly won it back if he'd tried to but he didn't look interested. Then you compare that to the work rate of Vardy, Nugent, Knockaert & King, it's quite refreshing really, knowing we sold this lad for more than the four players we've brought in combined.
BrummieFOX Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Great team performance last night with exciting attacking play with SO much pace and solid defending throughout. I can't believe the change in Vardy, what a shift he's put in over the last 2 games! Part of me hopes QPR get a result tonight so we've got them to chase away at Blackpool on Saturday, rather than defending our position at the top. More than happy to be top though Cannot wait for Blackpool now!

It's just that going top, even at this stage of the season should generate some excitement, some pleasure, but it's not........ There is still a feeling that we will be 'mid table by Christmas' about it all......
Dan Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 To be honest I do think there's an element of knowing we'll most likely drop to 2nd tonight I know what you mean though. I think there are some real similarities to last year and I can see why that scares our fans. But you'd like to hope if anything, knowing how they've fvcked up from top before, that they'd have learned something from it all.
NewburyFox Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Although it wasn't the 90 minute performance which we put in against Wigan, it's great to see that we're finally clicking into gear. In the 15 minutes after half time we were absolutely rampant, and in future situations we really need to put the game to bed as on another day, Blackburn could've scraped a barely deserved equaliser. It was nice to see us close the game out professionally too, too many times last season we had all of our players in the penalty box in the last few minutes to defend a one goal lead. Seeing Vardy take it in to the corner rather than risk losing the ball was good, as it shows his football brain has improved from last year. It will be interesting to see how we line up on Saturday, as we struggled playing 4-4-2 away from home last season. It would be harsh to drop either Knockaert (who seems to be regaining his form) or Dyer though, so what Nigel will do I'm not sure. Onwards and upwards!
JonnyBoy Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Convincing win tonight but let's be honest they are a very poor side who on that performance will struggle in this division. Vardy was MOTM, just hope he doesn't get drug tested because I'm sure he must be on some sort of amphetamines! he takes Craze pre workout before games, getting all kiiiiiinds if gains. Nomsayin
Danno Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 I swear Marshall only touched the ball once last night, when he tried to cross it and fell over
lgfualol Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 I would have been absolutely gutted if we drew last night, really deserved the win. We should definitely put away the chances, like the 1 on 1s and stuff but I'm sure we will. Blackpool will be interesting, I'd be happy for a point though.
MrSpaM Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 I swear Marshall only touched the ball once last night, when he tried to cross it and fell over This, he was completely anonymous. I barely even noticed he was on the pitch other than that awful cross. I'm glad he got an ok reception from our fans, but seeing him playing for another team without your blue tinted glasses on, he looks worse than average.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 I think it's fair to say we did not expect to go top last night even if we won, yes it might not last long, but hay ho who knows. So come on let's all give the squad a slap on the back, day well done and let's enjoy the ride
