Bert Posted 17 September 2013 Posted 17 September 2013 Schmeichel 6 - Didn't have an awful lot to do. De Laet 6 - Won the penalty but didn't do too much else. Konch 7 - Been solid since he came back in. Great to see. Moore 6 - Did what he had to with minimal fuss. Morgan 7 - Rhodes still in his pocket. Slowly getting back to his usual self. Knocky 7 - Worked hard, finding his feet and will hopefully be back to his very best soon. Dyer 7 - Nice finish, pace troubled them a lot. Drinkwater 8 - Ran the game for us. Some really nice tidy play and kept the ball well. Silly foul for the penalty but was it more of a case of the ref evening it up? King 8 - With Drinkwater, he dominated the middle and got a nice little assist too. Vardy 9 - perhaps should've scored but that was perhaps one of the most selfless performances you will see. Gave absolutely everythjng. Great to see. Nuge 8 - Another goal and with Vardy worked in tandem to put their defence under massive pressure. Subs - Neither had much of a great impact again. Was a case of seeing the game out. The ref. shit for them first half, shit for us second. Ours wasn't a pen I don't think, he couldn't wait to even it up though. We should've had one second half but you can't ask for two in a night.
Stuliasz Posted 17 September 2013 Posted 17 September 2013 Schmeichel 6 De Laet 7 Morgan 8 Moore 8 Konchesky 7 Knockaert 7 Drinkwater 7.5 King 9 Dyer 7.5 Nugent 6 Vardy 9 Subs: Hammond 6 Wood 6 Thought King was absolutely immense tonight and Vardy put in a near-complete performance.
Finnegan Posted 17 September 2013 Posted 17 September 2013 More or less agree with Bert but I'd give Vardy a ten for quite possibly the most inhumanely energetic performance I've ever seen. He was absolutely everywhere and never in a negative sense, never looked a danger to his own side when tracking back. Absolute beast in terms of work rate. If we had ten of him in terms of athleticism and attitude we'd be world beaters. Alright he missed a one on one but I was so impressed with his all round play I'm not sure I could mark him down for it. Thought Knockaert deserved more than a seven, too. Only blip was perhaps the build up to their penalty but he was otherwise all over the place in a positive sense, bags of effort, much more sensible on the ball but still found time to entertain, a couple of cracking passes including a phenomenal set up for what should have been a Vardy goal. Really does bring a spark we've missed.
nlukka Posted 17 September 2013 Posted 17 September 2013 Kasper 6 - shame about the penalty because don't think he was tested much all night RDL 7 - got forward very well. Morgan 7 - kept Rhodes very quiet Moore 7 - steady performance Konchesky 7 - defensively sound and supported Dyer well Knocky 7.5 - used possession very well. Thought he looked good tonight. King 7.5 - continued from where he left off against Wigan Drinkwater 7.5 - same as King Dyer 7 - tidy finish for the opener Vardy 8 - top work rate, shame he didn't finish the one-on-one Nugent 7 - looked better tonight, and bagged another goal Subs 5 - helped see the game out. I wish Wood would jump a bit more for headers though!
Father Ted Posted 17 September 2013 Posted 17 September 2013 Schmeichel 7 - Don't think he had one meaningful save to make. De Laet 6 - A bit hit and miss today, some parts were top quality but caught out a couple of other times. Moore 7 - Won almost everything and looked more comfortable with the ball at his feet. Morgan 7 - Solid Wes Konchesky 6 - Poor first half, got done 3 times and lucky to escape but second half was decent enough. Knockaert 8 - Closed down very well, worked hard for the team and used the ball very well. Best performance so far this season. King 7 - Tidy, couple of clever passes leading to both goals. Drinkwater 7 - As King, tidy. Dyer 6 - Scored but did very little else, however ball retention was good. Nugent 5 - Am I missing something here. Thought he was woeful again, wasteful in front of goal again and looked shattered. Vardy 9 - Worked endlessly for the team. Made some excellent runs with the ball at his feet. Won numerous headers. Hammond 6 - Couple of clever touches and got stuck in at times. Wood N/A
shilton_fox Posted 17 September 2013 Posted 17 September 2013 Schmeicel 6 - nothing to do De laet 7 - good run for the peno Konchesky7- solid Moore 8 - put his body on the line again.. Shows the club means alot to him Morgan 7 - did what was needed Knockeart 7 - looked better today Dyer 8 - good finish and used pace well King 7 - typical kings performance Drink water 8- seemed to be everywhere today Vardy 9 - brilliant workrate.. Completely different player to last year Nugent 7 - well taken penalty Overall very good team performance
Saxondale Posted 17 September 2013 Posted 17 September 2013 Schmeichel - 7 De Laet - 7 Morgan - 7 Moore - 8 Konchesky - 7 Knockaert - 8 King - 8 Drinkwater - 7 Dyer - 7 Nugent - 6 Vardy - 9 Hammond - 5 Wood - 5 (and he only gets a 5 for netting the goal that was ruled offside)
Dickov22 Posted 17 September 2013 Posted 17 September 2013 Kasper 6. Not a lot to do, but that was a brilliant kick to Nugent in the first half and he should have done better I felt De Laet 7. Stopped pretty much everything coming into our box from his side of the pitch. Couple of good runs too Morgan 7. Standard Wes. Brick wall Moore 7. Proving me wrong, I didn't think he was strong enough to play centre half but he had another good game Konch 7. Experienced solid performance Knockaert 7. Glad to see him back in the side. Thought he played well particularly first half Drinkwater 7.5 Drove us on, battled well. Would have given him higher but his challenge for the pen was naive. Just needless King 8. His best game of the season for me. Dyer 8.5. Been such a good player for us over the years. Constant threat tonight with his pace Nugent 7. Still not at his best but linked up well with Vardy Vardy 10. Pace, willing, work rate, good in the air, battles for EVERYTHING, annoys the hell out of the opposition defenders. Can't even fault him for the one on one as it was a good save. I bloody love the bloke. Bit worried about how he flew into a couple of challenges though- could get in trouble if he mistimes one in the future Hammond 6. Couple of misplaced passes Wood 5. Lump who cannot jump (good finish for that 'offside goal' though. I thought he looked on side)
kingfox Posted 17 September 2013 Posted 17 September 2013 Schmeichel 6 - Did what needed to be done De Laet 6 - Mixed bag, beaten defensively a few time Morgan 7 - Back to his solid self Moore 7 - Another solid performance, putting his body on the line Konchesky 7 - Solid also, consistent performance Knockaert 8 - This is the Knocky I like to see, worked hard tonight, dangerous on the ball King 7 - Hard working display, similar performance to the weekend Drinkwater 7 - Excellent first half, sluggish in the second Dyer 7 - Good goal, when released he did ok Nugent 6 - Despite the penalty, still something not quite right Vardy 9 - Absolute mental
Guest ttfn Posted 17 September 2013 Posted 17 September 2013 Schmeichel 6 - Can't really give him more or less than that really based on his minimal involvement. One excellent goal kick put Nugent in. De Laet 7 - Pretty steady in defence and attack. Won the penalty (albeit it should never have been given). Moore 8 - Very good, again. Morgan 7.5 - Solid. Konchesky 7 - Did fine. I'm still freaked out by the haircut. Knockaert 7.5 - Created a few decent openings, notably the one-on-one for Vardy. Drinkwater 7.5 - Much more like his old self over the last couple of games. Played a few lovely passes and got stuck in. Very clumsy for the penalty. King 8 - Created the first goal with a great pass for Dyer and then played in De Laet for the penalty. Could have had a couple himself, but was thwarted by last-ditch defending and goalkeeping. Dyer 7 - Not as effective as he might have been against what was not a particularly convincing Blackburn defence. Nicely taken goal. Nugent 7 - Huffed, puffed, scored a penalty. Vardy 8 - Still has a heavy touch with his back to goal, but he is making the most of his undoubted positive attributes for the side at the moment. Made intelligent runs into space, got into great positions and worked his nuts off with Nugent in closing down the defenders. Never allowed Blackburn a moment's peace. A real lesson in defending from the front. subs: Hammond 6 - No idea what to make of this character yet. Wood 5 - Please jump. I know it's not your game, but please, for the love of God, just try.
TrentFox Posted 17 September 2013 Posted 17 September 2013 7's and 8's across the board. 9's for Vardy, (despite that miss), and DD, (despite that penalty). Both were outstanding tonight.
Callabinho Posted 17 September 2013 Posted 17 September 2013 Kasper 6 RDL 4 Moore 7 Morgan 7 Konch 7 Drinky 7 King 6 Dyer 6 Knocky 8 Vardy 8 Nugent 6 Hammond 5 Wood -6
Mack Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Few points. Dyer was fantastic once again, quite why some here still dont get him and mark him down is beyond me. Vardy was an absolute monster. If you want to show kids and example of commitment, work, desire and how to defend from the front a video of that performance would be ideal. Finally I think we may have finally found a very useful & settled back 4 unit. Exiting times for us ahead.

Today wasn't a great performance, though, even the goal came after King recovered a situation Dyer had messed up. Heavy touch, some poor passes and - worst of all - he just isn't attacking people at the minute. He was okay, a solid six or so, did enough. But that wasn't a great Dyer performance.

Whilst it wasn't his absolute best it was a typical Dyer performance. And that's why I don't get some of the comments. If the odd touch / cross didn't go awry he'd be playing for one of the top 5 or 6 clubs in the country. Lloyd never leaves anything in the dressing room, and he scares the life out of defences with his pace and drive. Some of the interplay between Dyer, Konchesky, Drinkwater and at times Knockaert was fantastic. People should appreciate him just as he is rather than expecting him to do everything absolutely perfectly. He is a massive asset to our side.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Thought dyer was amazing tonight, his link up play and crosses was much better than usual.

He had a very good game for us last night and over a number of years his contribution has been huge.

Calm down he isn't that good, if it was just the odd touch that went awry he'd be playing in the premier. He's just a very fast person who can play a bit of football.
Alf Bentley Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Schmeichel 6.5 Little to do De Laet 6.5 OK Moore 7 Solid Morgan 7.5 Even solider Konch 7 Good form last 2 games; no pace to recover when beaten, but rarely is Knocky 8.5. MoM Much better ball retention recently (even wins it back), clever passes, flair with a purpose Drinky 8 Controlled thing nicely & more positive in his first-time passing King 8 Great ball distribution & fluidity of movement Dyer 7 Good passing; caused them problems Nuge 5.5 Still off form, especially in front of goal, but will work his way back Vardy 8 Monstrous effort/team contribution; a goal or two soon would further boost his renewed confidence Hammond 6 Not quite match fit yet; nice touches, but misplaced passes Wood 5.5 Still off-colour, though nice finish for the disallowed goal (was him, wasn't it?)
Tommy G Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Vardy - 10. Mainly for that slide tackle near the Kop on the second half where he ran at their defender at about 70mph then went spinning round like a looney He played the whole game like he was on drugs
artursteppe Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Dyer and Knocky. Both are now doing the jobs they should have been doing last season, which is the main reason why our 4-4-2 is working ok now compared with last year. Last season, notwithstanding his pace Dyer, and Knocky were next to useless. They put too much pressure on our two central midfield players because they did not help defensively. We lost matches, too many in the second half of the season to get promoted. This season, Drinkwater and King have been immense. Furthermore Dyer and Knocky are both putting in a full shift with everybody else. Defensively they are now doing their jobs. Last season they didn't. I still prefer 4-3-3 or 3-5-2, but whilst 4-4-2 is now working, for the genuine reasons as indicated, I am very excited now about our ability to change formations which will give us a tremendous advantage going forward.
